Chapter 27
Sabrina's bedroom
_ Sabrina rushed around her bedroom trying to find the perfect
outfit. She found it hard to look sexy when everything in her closet was either
maternity fitted clothes or her usual clothes were too small for her new thick figure.
“Thank you, Jordan...” Sabrina teased her newborn son as he sat in a small baby lounge chair on her bed. “Mommy can’t find anything to wear…”
Sabrina continued to search for something to wear as she tossed clothes over her shoulder once realizing the item was too small. She tried on different tops but didn’t like it. She felt it showed what she thought was her flabby tummy. Her jeans were too tight on her waist giving what she thought was a 'muffin top' figure. She tried on a few dresses however she just didn’t feel sexy enough in it. Sabrina looked at the time and realized Nick would be there in any minute.
“Crap!” Sabrina shouted out loud to herself as she dived into her closet of clothes once again. Jordan only made his quiet baby noises and squirmed a bit in his chair in response.
After a few more minutes pass, Sabrina picked a pair of jeans and a semi sheer top and threw a scarf around her neck that draped low to her waist. She figured it would hide any flab she felt she had. She brushed and flipped her hair and quickly applied her makeup.
Just as she applied mascara to her lashes, she heard a knock on her door. Sabrina gasped and turned to look at Jordan still sitting on her bed. “Who is that? Is that daddy?” Sabrina smiled. She quickly looked back in the mirror over her dresser to finish her eye makeup. She fluffed her hair and popped her lips to blend her strawberry lip gloss shine. She quickly grabbed Jordan while sitting in his bouncy lounge chair and carried him into the living room. Sabrina heard another knock on her door while she walked into the living room.
“Coming!” Sabrina yelled for the person on the other side of the door to hear.
She gently placed Jordan on the sofa and placed a pacifier into his mouth. Once she saw he was okay, she rushed toward her door fluffing her hair once again before opening the door.

_ She smiled as she yanked her door open to see Nick. “Hi!”
Sabrina said with a smile.
Nick’s hands were stuffed in his shorts pocket as he turned his head from looking out in the parking lot toward Sabrina. His eyes swept up and down her body and finally landed on her eyes. He furrowed his brows a bit as he stared at her.
Sabrina’s file slowly faded when she saw Nick’s expression. He didn’t appear to be happy to be there. He wore a blue sweatshirt, shorts, and sneakers as if he were going for a run.
“What’s up.” Nick said flatly.
Sabrina slowly backed away to open the door wider for him to come inside. Keeping his hands in his pockets, Nick walked in. His eyes immediately drew to Jordan in his chair on the sofa. Nick smiled when he saw Jordan.
“Hey…what’s up man?” Nick said joyfully as he went to pick him up and lay him against his chest.
Sabrina closed the door shut and smiled lightly when she saw how happy Nick was to see Jordan. She tucked a few strands of her hair behind her ear and folded her arms across her chest, walking slowly up to him.
Nick looked around for Jordan’s baby bag so he could take Jordan with him. Nick looked at Sabrina. “Where’s his bag? Did you pack his bag?” Nick asked slightly upset.
“No. I was hoping—“
“Oh, right, I know. I’ll sign it. Where are the papers?” Nick said adjusting Jordan in his arms.
Sabrina frowned slightly realizing that he was speaking of the divorce papers.
“What? No…uh…actually…I was hoping we could talk, first.”
Nick rolled his eyes in annoyance. “Geez…Brin…just let me sign the fucking papers and let me spend time with my son, already.”
Sabrina frowned. “What is your problem?”
“Oh my God…” Nick mumbled in frustration.
He took a seat on her sofa as he lowered Jordan to sit on his lap.
Sabrina watched him. “Nick…I think we should talk. Why is it so hard for you to express your feelings?”
Nick looked up at her with a puzzled expression raising one brow. “Excuse me? What are you talking about?”
Sabrina lowered her hands down to her side as she stared back at him. “Let’s just talk. Tell each other how we feel…you know? Let’s talk.”
Nick lowered his eyes down to Jordan and took a deep breath. He then responded as he raised his eyes up to Sabrina. “Alright, fine. Why did you push the time back for me to come here to get my son, when you don’t even have his bag packed? Were you too busy with Kevin or something? Babying him? Having sex with him? Making out with him? What’s the deal?”
Sabrina furrowed her brows. “What? No. I—“
“Wait, you know what?” Nick said interrupting her as he gently laid Jordan in his bouncy lounge chair. “I don’t care. Just give me a pen so I can sign the papers and go.” Nick sprung up on his feet and walked toward her dining room table where he saw the divorce papers.
Sabrina grabbed Nick’s arm to stop him just as he passed her. “Nick, stop. Chill out. I just want to talk to you. We need to talk.”
“What, Brin.” Nick said annoyed.
“Can you just…sit down? Please?” Sabrina slightly pouted as she looked up at him.
Nick pulled out a chair from the dining room table and sat down. “Talk.” Nick said flatly as he looked up at her.
Sabrina looked back at Jordan who sat quietly in his chair. She then sat down at the table across from Nick. Sabrina noticed Nick clenching his jaw muscles as he intertwined his fingers together on top of the table.
“Why are you so upset?” Sabrina asked softly.
Nick raised his brows in disbelief of her question. “Are you serious?” he looked down at the divorce papers on the table and picked it up gesturing to it.
“I understand that—“
“Is your boyfriend okay? Im sorry I punched him in the nose.” Nick said interrupting her as he dropped the papers on the table.
“First of all, he’s not boyfriend—“
“Really? What, is he your fiancé or something? Is that the reason for the rush with the divorce?” Nick interrupted her once again.
“Will you stop interrupting me!” Sabrina raised her voice getting annoyed with him.
“Alright, fine…talk.”
“Stop telling me to talk. I would if you let me, and stop interrupting me!”
Nick sat there in silence as he looked down at his hands while he continued to clench his jaw muscles.
Before Sabrina could get another word out, there was a knock at her door. Sabrina’s heart started to race. She immediately thought of Kevin. She sat there thinking and praying it wasn’t Kevin. Now was not a good time. She then heard a female’s voice.
“Open up mama, it’s me, Raven!” Raven shouted on the other side of the door as she continued to knock.
Sabrina hopped up from the table and answered the door.
“Hola chica!” Raven shouted with joy as she made her way inside Sabrina’s apartment. “Where’s my baby boy?” Raven then looked to her right and saw Nick sitting at the dining room table with a stoned expression. “Oh!” Raven looked back at Sabrina.
Sabrina closed the door and stared back at Raven.
Nick’s hands were stuffed in his shorts pocket as he turned his head from looking out in the parking lot toward Sabrina. His eyes swept up and down her body and finally landed on her eyes. He furrowed his brows a bit as he stared at her.

Sabrina closed the door and stared back at Raven.
_ Raven drew her attention to Nick once again. “Hello.”
“Hey, Raven.” Nick said as he nodded his head to her.
Raven backed into Sabrina and spoke quietly. “Why didn’t you tell me Nick was here?”
“Raven…what are you doing here?” Sabrina asked her quietly.
Raven looked disappointed. “Did you forget? We were supposed to go out to Piedmont Park and go for a walk. My mom was going to watch Jordan…remember?”
Sabrina had totally forgotten when there was so much that was going on.
“Oh my God, Raven…I totally forgot. Im so sorry.” Sabrina sadly admitted.
Nick stood up from the table saying, “Why don’t you ladies go ahead. I’ll take Jordan with me for the day. Go have your girls day out... or whatever.”
Sabrina looked at Nick with disappointment. She couldn’t understand why he didn’t want to talk to her.
“My bad…did I just interrupt something?” Raven said feeling awful for her bad timing.
“Well, actually I—“
“Nope.” Nick interrupted Sabrina speaking to Raven. Nick turned his attention back to Sabrina saying, “I would greatly appreciate it if you would just get his bag ready so I can take him. Can I please just get some time with my son? That’s all that I ask.” Nick glared at Sabrina.
Raven could feel the tension in the air as she saw the transaction happening between Nick and Sabrina. “Listen, I will just come back later. Okay, Brin?”
“No, stay. Im leaving…with Jordan.” Nick said bring his attention back to Raven. “Seriously. Stay.” Nick gave Raven a light smile and walked over toward Jordan who had dozed off to sleep.
Raven looked at Sabrina wondering what she wanted her to do.
Sabrina glanced at Raven and then back at Nick. She walked toward Nick and spoke quietly, “Can I just talk to you for a second, in my room?”
“Nah. Im good. I’ll wait here until you have his bag ready.” Nick said coldly as he glared at her.
Sabrina felt her herself becoming slightly emotional as her heart raced. Why was he being so mean to her?
“Im gonna go. Brin, call me later.” Raven said as she reached for the doorknob.
“No, stay!” Both Sabrina and Nick yelled in unison.
Raven quickly drew her hand back to hear them both tell her to stay. “Okay…okay.” Raven said as she jumped around.
Sabrina quickly turned to walk toward her bedroom to get Jordan’s bag together.
Raven felt so bad for interrupting whatever was happening between the two. Sabrina moved about from the kitchen to her bedroom as she prepared Jordan’s baby bag together. Nick placed Jordan into the car seat as he began to whine.
A few minutes later, Sabrina approached Nick giving him Jordan’s baby bag. Nick quietly placed the strap of the bag over his shoulder. Sabrina leaned down to the car seat and kissed Jordan. She then stood up and looked up at Nick.
“When are you bringing him back?”
“Some time tonight.” Nick said flatly without looking at her.
“Maybe we can finish talking when you come back…?” Sabrina said as she looked up at him. Nick grabbed the handle to Jordan’s car seat saying, “I doubt it.”
He began walking toward the door. Raven was standing by the door. She politely opened the door to help Nick out. He faintly smiled at Raven saying, “Thanks. See you later.”
“Bye, Nick.” Raven said softly.
Raven looked at Sabrina who appeared to look like she wanted to cry. Sabrina snapped out of her thoughts and followed Nick out to his car. Raven stayed in the apartment so they could have their moment alone.
“You are coming back tonight, right?” Sabrina said with concern.
Nick didn’t respond.
Sabrina watched him as he opened his car door. “Nick?”
“What, you think im kidnapping my son or something? Of course Im coming back.” Nick replied without looking at her.
“Nick, Im not with Kevin, alright? If that’s what you’re upset about. He’s not my boyfriend, and he’s not my fiancé…he’s nothing to me.” Sabrina said tucking her hair behind her ear as she watched him put Jordan into the backseat of his car.
Nick didn’t respond.
“He was never anything to me. I don’t like him…I don’t love him…” Sabrina added.
Nick shut the back door to his car and glanced at Sabrina as if he didn’t believe her.
“I love you, Nick. I always will. I just—“
“…Want to get a divorce. Yeah, that makes perfect sense.” Nick interrupted her once again as he opened his car door to get in. “I’ll text you before I bring him back.” Nick added before shutting his door and starting the car.
Sabrina frowned feeling frustrated with him. She stood there and watched him drive away.
Sabrina slowly walked back into her apartment as Raven stared at her waiting for an update to what had just happened.
“Ok…what the heck did I just walk into? Brin, why didn’t you tell me you wanted to cancel our plans?” Raven said apologetic.
“I forgot. I totally forgot.” Sabrina said softly as she closed the door and took a seat at the dining room table.
“What was up with Nick? Why was he acting like he was on his period?”
At that moment, Sabrina filled Raven in on what happened last night with Nick punching Kevin. She also played the songs that Nick had written and sung for her. Raven swayed to the first song played about giving love another try. She then looked somber and pouted as she heard the second song playing about it being critical for him.
Raven pouted her lips as she looked at Sabrina when the songs were over. “Girrrlll…” Raven said as she kept her eyes on Sabrina who’s eyes were now watery. “Girl, that man loves you. I mean…seriously…he loves you.”
Sabrina sniffed as she brought her legs underneath her while sitting on her sofa. “Then why does he act the way he acts? You saw how he was acting towards me.”
“Brin, honey, he is upset. You filed for a divorce and you keep having Kevin around. Nick drove 5 hours up the road last night to see his son, and he doesn’t see him because Kevin was here and then he punched his lights out! What did you do after Nick punched the hell out of Kevin last night? You catered to Kevin…how do you think that makes him feel?”
“Raven, Kevin was hurt. Kevin didn’t do anything to him—“
“Brin, it doesn’t matter. Nick had probably been wanting to punch Kevin. He just saw his chance last night. You let Kevin hold the baby before Nick couldn’t even see his own son…that must have been heart breaking for Nick.”
Sabrina smacked her teeth. “Raven, who’s side are you on?”
“Im just saying. Im trying to look at it from his point of view. I mean…don’t get me wrong, I think Nick is a hot head. His temper is off the rockers, but knowing his past with head injuries from playing ball back in his college days and then his addiction to drugs…I feel sorry for the guy.”
Sabrina only looked down at her hands feeling sad.
“And then he’s obviously hopelessly in love with you. Damn…wish I had somebody that in love with me who can sing his ass off like Nick. Girl, his voice is absolutely beautiful.”
“I know…”
“Girl, if you don’t get your man…someone else will. He’ll be singing someone else’s panties off before you know it.” Raven said as she crossed her leg over the other as she sat in Sabrina’s chair next to the sofa.
“What do I do? He won’t talk to me, or even listen to me.” Sabrina said feeling defeated.
Raven stared at her friend as if trying to read her mind. “Let me ask you something. Do you trust him?”
Sabrina stared back at her friend with hesitation. “He’s lied to me so many times, Raven. He manipulated me into marrying him…it’s hard to just say I 100% trust him right now.”
“Right now? Brin, if you can’t trust him or get over the lies he told you in the past…then get a divorce. Allow it to go thru. But if you can trust him and you can get over the lies he told you, then you need to get your man by any means necessary.” Raven said with a sincere tone. “You can’t have a relationship without trust.”
Sabrina sighed as she ran her fingers thru her hair. She then looked down at the divorce papers she had placed on the end table beside her sofa. She picked it up and looked at each page noticing her and Nick’s signature. She then saw the page that used to be blank from Nick’s signature. She now realized that while she was talking to Raven upon her arrival, Nick must have signed that one page. Now every page was signed by Nick and her.
Sabrina raised her eyes up to Raven. “What if he has come to the fact that he wants to divorce me and can’t forget me about hanging around Kevin? He signed every page.”
“I don’t think he initially missed that page accidentally. Maybe he was having regrets and found another reason to come around you once more before signing every page.” Raven said thinking out loud. “Either way, Brin…you don’t have to submit that to the lawyer. You can rip it if you want. That is…if you can trust Nick again and move on from the past.”
Sabrina remained silent in deep thoughts. Raven smiled and hopped up from the chair.
“I have an idea. Let’s go shopping!”
Sabrina looked up at her friend. “Shopping?”
“Yeah girl! You said you couldn’t find anything in your closet. So let’s go shopping! Maybe, find something that will keep Nick’s attention on you, and cant help but listen to you.” Raven walked over to the dining table and grabbed her coach purse from the chair.
“Raven, I don’t have a job. I can’t afford to go shopping with you. You like those high end stores.” “Girl puh-lease! You have money, don’t trip! But if you’re that worried…it’s my treat. Let’s go find something to make you feel sexy.”
Raven rushed over toward Sabrina and pulled on her arm forcing her to get up from the sofa.
“Alright fine!” Sabrina laughed. “But I have to get something for my boys, Jordan and Cody. I miss Jordan so much right now. This is the longest I will have been away from him since he was born.” “And you don’t want to keep going thru that do you? So, let’s get your man, Nick, back with a killer outfit! Oh…and let’s bring his songs with us to the car, for that motivation! I love his song about give love a try…its beautiful…” Raven said as she continued to talk a mile a minute.
Sabrina laughed at her friend as she grabbed her purse.
“Hey, Raven.” Nick said as he nodded his head to her.
Raven backed into Sabrina and spoke quietly. “Why didn’t you tell me Nick was here?”
“Raven…what are you doing here?” Sabrina asked her quietly.

Lenox Mall
_
Moments later, Sabrina found herself at Lenox Mall in the
Macy’s store, searching thru the clothes rack.
“No…put that one back.” Raven said when she saw Sabrina picking out a top.
“Why not? I like it!” Sabrina laughed.
“No…we’re going for sexy, not granny.”
Sabrina giggled. “And how sexy are we talking? Have you forgotten that I not too long ago had a baby?”
“Exactly! You have to show off your curvy hips, and your voluptuous breasts. Girl, my man Jordan hooked you up!” Raven laughed thinking about baby Jordan.
Sabrina joined in Raven’s laughter. “Whatever.”
At that moment, Sabrina’s cell phone rang. Deep down inside she hoped it was Nick. However, she was proven wrong when her caller id read: Kevin.
Sabrina answered saying, “Hey Kevin.”
Raven immediately darted her eyes over at Sabrina. She did not approve of the fact that Kevin was calling her.
Raven then heard Sabrina say, “You’re where?” She paused as her and Raven exchanged glances. “Oh…okay…see you in a bit.” Raven heard her friend say into the phone.
Raven placed her hand on her hips as she stared at Sabrina. “You’ll see who in a bit?”
“That was Kevin. He said he thought he saw us come in here. He wanted to say hi.”
“Are you fuc—“
“Here he is…be nice.” Sabrina said as she plastered a fake smile on her face when she saw Kevin approaching them.
Raven turned around to follow Sabrina’s gaze. There he was walking toward them flashing his dimples and wearing a nose bandage. Raven silently giggled at the sight. Kevin walked right up to Sabrina and gave her a hug and attempted to kiss her cheek. Sabrina barely hugged him and leaned back to avoid him when she noticed that he was trying to kiss her.
“Hello ladies! How are you on this glorious day?” Kevin asked as he looked at both Sabrina and Raven.
“We’re great. What are you doing here? I thought you were going home.” Sabrina asked.
Raven never responded, she continued to look thru the clothes rack.
“I couldn’t leave without seeing or talking to you again. I just didn’t feel like I left on good terms this morning.” Kevin smiled as he rubbed her arm.
Sabrina slightly moved away and folded her arms. “Well…I thought we were fine. We were on good terms.” Sabrina reminded him.
“Oh…well I was hoping I could make up for what happened last night. How about dinner this evening?”
“Nope, sorry. It’s a girls day and night out. No men allowed.” Raven quickly chimed in as she kept looking at different clothing.
Kevin looked at Raven and then turned his attention back to Sabrina as if to confirm Raven’s statement.
Sabrina nodded her head. “Yeah…sorry. I have plans already.” Sabrina knew Raven wasn’t telling the truth about it being a girls night out, but she decided to go along with it, because truth be told, she didn’t want to spend any time with him. She’d rather be with Nick.
“Bummer. I guess that explains the missing baby. Where’s Jordan?” Kevin asked.
Sabrina hesitated before answering because she felt like it wasn’t any of his business. “He is with his father, Nick.”
“Oh…so, he is still here?”
Sabrina glanced at Raven and noticed the weird expression on her face.
“Yeah…when are you leaving to go back home?” Sabrina asked.
“Whenever I can take you out. I refuse to go home until we spend a few more hours together. So…are you free tomorrow?”
Raven looked at Sabrina curious as to what her answer would be.
“Uh…I don’t know. I was just hoping for a day with me and Jordan. You know, like a mother-son day.” Sabrina said tucking a few strands behind her ear.
“I would love to join you guys. Just a few hours? May one hour? C’mon…at least before I go back home. Please?” Kevin begged looking slightly sad.
“We’ll see…but I seriously doubt it.”
“Ahh…but there is a ‘maybe’, right? I’ll take it. I’ll call you tomorrow.” Kevin smiled. He then started to walk away. “You ladies behave tonight. Have a great time and don’t do anything I wouldn’t do! Wait…actually, you should probably do everything I would do…you’ll stay out of trouble.” Kevin laughed and walked away.
Raven turned and looked at Sabrina. “What the hell? What is up with that?”
Sabrina shrugged. “I don’t know. But he’s really sweet. He only means well.”
“Would you rather have Kevin around or Nick?”
“Nick…duh.” Sabrina responded playfully shoving Raven’s arm.
“Then show it. Now c’mon let’s try these dresses out. You’re still a size 2, right?”
“Oh my gosh, I wish! Have you seen my ass?” Sabrina teased Raven.
Raven turned Sabrina around so she could see her butt. “You’re right…you’re like a size 10 now.”
Sabrina gasped and playfully hit Raven in shock that she was calling her out to be bigger than she was. “Girl, im playing with you. You’re still super small, so don’t worry about it. Let’s try this pink dress out. It’s soooo pretty!”

Sabrina's Apartment
_ Sabrina looked at the time and saw that it read 10:05pm. She
kept reminding herself that Raven told her not to call Nick and allow him to
have his time alone with Jordan. But it was getting late, and Sabrina was
really missing her baby boy. So she decided to call Cody who was still with his
father Josh.
“Hey sweetie!”
“Hey ma! Whatcha doing?”
“Nothing much. Was thinking about you. Having fun?”
“Yeah…we are about to watch a movie. Are you okay?”
Sabrina smiled. “Yeah…I just miss my Cody.”
“I miss you too!”
Sabrina could tell he was having fun and was ready to go watch the movie with his father.
“Okay, well, I will let you go. I will see you on Monday, right?”
“Yep!”
“Okay…I love you, sweetie.”
“I love you more!” Cody said and ended the call.
Sabrina dug her fingers thru her hair out of frustration. She wanted her boys with her. She was bored out of her mind. She wished Raven had stayed longer, but she had other plans. Her aunt Kelly was having date night with her husband. Sabrina was so bored she started to call her old friend Taylor from high school. However, she would need to search for her phone number.
Sabrina walked into her bedroom and searched for her address book. She then heard a knock at her door. Sabrina dropped what she was doing and rushed to the door with the hopes of it being Nick.
She opened the door and saw Nick carrying Jordan in his car seat. Sabrina eyes immediately dropped down to Jordan. She smiled in happiness to see her baby.
“Hey my baby! Oh my gosh I miss you so much!” Sabrina said as she grabbed Jordan’s car seat from Nick.
She carried him over to the sofa to quickly get him out of the car seat. Nick quietly stepped into her apartment and stood close to the dining table.
Sabrina finally unbuckled Jordan from his car seat and held him up kissing his cheeks.
“Hi my sweetie! Oh, I missed you so much! Yes I did!” Sabrina spoke in a baby tone as she bounced Jordan in her arms.
Nick only stared at her as she had yet to acknowledge him.
As if reading his mind, Sabrina finally turned to look at him. Nick held up a medium sized package of new pampers. “I bought a new pack for you.” Nick stated.
“Thank you. I have plenty though.” Sabrina added as she slowly walked toward him.
“Well…now you have more.” Nick stated as he kept his eyes on her.
“Thanks.” Sabrina said as she looked up at him while still bouncing Jordan in her arms.
“Alright, well…Im gonna go.” Nick said placing the pampers on the chair at the dining room table. “Well, hey…uh…when are you going back home?”
“Tomorrow.” Nick replied looking at Jordan as he laid against Sabrina’s chest.
Nick grinned as he saw the funny face Jordan was making. He couldn’t help but reach out to him and fix the shirt Jordan was wearing.
“What time tomorrow? Because I was hoping we could try and talk. Maybe start fresh…?”
“For what? I already signed the papers. Didn't you see it?”
“Yeah…but that’s not what I wanted to talk about.”
“Did you mean what you said earlier?” Nick asked as if he had totally ignored her last statement. “What? What did I say?” Sabrina asked with uncertainty.
“That you would always love me. Did you mean that as in a friendship thing or what?” Nick said stuffing his hands into his shorts pockets.
“I meant that as a friend and more.”
Nick furrowed his brow not sure he was really understanding her.
“I told you, I think we should talk.” Sabrina added.
“Well…I can’t right now. Little man kind of wore me out today, so I think I should get some rest before hitting the road tomorrow.” Nick said rubbing the back of his neck.
“Oh…okay. Well…what hotel are you staying at?”
“The Hilton downtown.” Nick responded looking at Jordan once again.
“Oh…okay. Well, what if I came to you, instead of you having to drive all the way over here from downtown.”
“Tomorrow?” Nick asked confused.
“Yes.” Sabrina smiled.
Nick smirked not sure what she was up to you. “What’s with you?”
Sabrina giggled. “Nothing. I just want to talk to you before you go home. I can get Raven to watch Jordan, and you and I can have a date…or whatever…so we can talk.”
“A date?” Nick asked with a confused expression.
“Yes…I mean…if that is okay with you.”
“Uuuuhm…okay.”
“Yeah?” Sabrina smiled in shock.
Nick smirked. “Yeah.”
Sabrina smiled and bit her lower lip. She was happy to hear that he was willing to talk. 'Operation get my husband back' was in effect, Sabrina thought to herself.
“I’ll call you tomorrow.” Nick said to her.
He then looked at Jordan laying against her chest. He stepped up close to Sabrina. Sabrina looked up at him and almost stopped breathing when Nick was standing so close to her. Nick leaned down. Sabrina immediately dropped her eyes down to his full lips. Was he about to kiss her?
A second later, she got her answer. Nick leaned down and kissed Jordan’s head and gently rubbed his barely there hair. He glanced at Sabrina who was staring intently up at him.
Nick slowly backed away. He opened the door saying, “See you tomorrow.”
Sabrina stepped forward to close the door behind him. She smiled saying, “It’s a date.”
Nick smiled and walked out.
“Hey sweetie!”
“Hey ma! Whatcha doing?”

Part 2
_ Sabrina had just finished applying her makeup when she heard
Jordan crying. She tightened her towel around her naked body and peeked her
head out of her bedroom into the living room. She saw Raven pacing the floor as
she held Jordan in her arms.
“Is he okay?” Sabrina asked.
“He’s fine. He just didn’t like I had to change his diapers. Girl I got him, finish getting dressed.” Raven said with a smile. “Okay!” Sabrina said as she closed her bedroom door to finish getting dressed.
She laid out her new pink dress she had bought with Raven at the mall. She put on her new pink lace bra and matching bikini style underwear to match with a laced trim.
When she put her pink dress on, she felt like she had swollen over night. Sabrina struggled with the zipper in the back and became frustrated.
“Raven!” Sabrina shouted for her best friend.
“What’s wrong, girl?” Raven said coming into Sabrina’s room.
Sabrina looked as if she were going to cry. “It doesn’t fit! The dress doesn’t fit! I told you we should have gotten a larger size!”
“Girl, stop trippin!” Raven said with a slight giggle.
She gently laid Jordan down in his crib against Sabrina's bedroom wall. She then came over toward Sabrina to help with her dress. She began tugging on the zipper.
“Girl, if we had gotten a larger size, it would be too big. And a smaller size would have been too tight—“
“Yeah but for this size, the damn zipper won’t even zip up, so now what?” Sabrina panicked interrupting Raven.
“Chill out.” Raven laughed.
Raven looked at Sabrina’s swollen breasts popping out of the dress. “Did your boobs grow overnight or something? What the hell?”
“I know! I don’t know what’s going on.” Sabrina pouted as she looked in the mirror.
“Okay…suck it in girl!”
Sabrina inhaled deeply, holding her breath. At that, Raven was able to zip her dress up in the back.
“Got it!” Raven proclaimed.
Sabrina exhaled holding her stomach.
“How does that feel?” Raven asked.
“It feels a little tight in the upper rib area but other than that…it’s okay. I feel like my boobs are spilling out of the dress. I think it’s my bra.”
“Well girl that’s a damn good bra! Your boobs look great. Nick will love it!” Raven teased Sabrina.
Sabrina laughed and playfully shoved Raven away. Raven laughed and walked back over to Jordan who was making fussy noises. Sabrina turned to look at Jordan and walked up to the crib as well. She picked him up and laid him over her shoulder.
“No, ma’am..give him to me! It’s your day off! You need to be heading out of the door, like now!” Sabrina reluctantly handed Jordan back over to Raven.
Sabrina quickly put her nude colored sandals on, and brushed her long dark hair over her shoulders. Raven saw Sabrina staring at herself in the mirror.
“Brin…you look beautiful. Don’t worry about it.”
Sabrina smoothed her hands down her sides over the dress. “Are you sure? Im so nervous. What if we end up arguing or something?” Sabrina said with a concerned expression.
“You won’t. Just remain calm. You love him, right?”
Sabrina looked at her friend and slowly smiled. “Yes.”
“He’s your husband. Just bring him home.” Raven smiled as she cradled Jordan in her arms.
Sabrina smiled at her friend. She gave her a hug and gave Jordan many kisses before she left out of the door. She put on her white cardigan sweater and walked to her car.
It was two in the afternoon, and Sabrina was on her way to meet Nick at a restaurant called Copelands.
“Is he okay?” Sabrina asked.
“He’s fine. He just didn’t like I had to change his diapers. Girl I got him, finish getting dressed.” Raven said with a smile. “Okay!” Sabrina said as she closed her bedroom door to finish getting dressed.

It was two in the afternoon, and Sabrina was on her way to meet Nick at a restaurant called Copelands.
_ Sabrina parked her car and walked into the breezy sunny day.
Sabrina’s hair flapped in the wind as she walked to the front entrance looking
for Nick.
She walked into the restaurant and looked around. The hostess of the restaurant walked up to Sabrina with a smile. “Hi. Table for one or…”
Sabrina pulled out her cell phone getting ready to text Nick’s cell phone. “I am looking for someone, I don’t know if he’s here yet. Nicholas Lancaster?”
“Oh, are you…Sharina?”
“Sabrina…” Sabrina corrected the woman.
The woman smiled, “Yes, my apologies. He said he would be expecting you. You can follow me.”
Sabrina faintly smiled as she followed the woman holding her cardigan sweater closed across her chest. As she followed the woman, Sabrina spotted Nick sitting at the table looking out the window he sat next to. He then turned his head and made eye contact with Sabrina. He smirked when he saw Sabrina. Sabrina smiled.
She thought he looked so handsome. His diamond earrings he wore in his ears were sparkling from the glare of the window he sat next to. He wore a thin caramel v-neck sweater rolled up his forearms exposing his silver rolex watch on one wrist and a silver chain link bracelet around his other wrist. Sabrina really liked what she saw.
The hostess escorted Sabrina to the booth Nick sat in and handed Sabrina a menu as she slid into the booth. “I’ll get your waitress right over to take your drink order.” The hostess said with a smile.
“Thanks.” Sabrina smiled at the woman. She then turned her attention to her estranged husband sitting across from her. “Hi.” Sabrina said with a smile.
“Hey. You look... nice.”
Sabrina slightly blushed and thanked him.
“How’s Jordan?” Nick asked as he kept his eyes on her.
Sabrina smiled thinking about him. “He’s good. Still making bubbles with his mouth…you know the usual.” Sabrina laughed.
Nick chuckled thinking about his son.
At that moment, a waitress approached their table and asked Sabrina what she wanted to drink. Sabrina hesitated while looking at the drink menu. “Can I have a raspberry martini?”
“Coming right up.” The waitress said and walked away.
Nick smiled at her. “Is this your first alcoholic drink since you had the baby?”
“Yes. As a matter of fact it is.” Sabrina giggled lightly. “Oh my gosh I can’t wait to have the sweet taste of alcohol on my lips.” Sabrina said thinking out loud.
Nick smiled admiring the smile on her face that he missed so much.
Sabrina looked down at his drink. “What are you drinking? Sprite?”
“Water.”
“Really? No Corona or anything?”
Nick shook his head as he looked down at his water. “Nope. Just something I’ve changed about myself. Along the lines of being sober.” Nick finished as he slowly raised his eyes back up to Sabrina.
“That’s awesome.” Sabrina said pleasantly. “I don’t think you realize how proud I am of you for getting help. I really am, Nick.”
“Thanks.”
Sabrina propped her forearms on top the wooden table they sat at. She flipped her hair over to the side with her fingers and continued, “I am so sorry, that I wasn’t there for you like I should have.”
Nick only gazed across the table at her. Why did she have to look so beautiful? He wondered in his head. He then looked down at his ice water and began swirling the straw stuck in his glass between the ice chunks.
“It’s okay. Things happen. Maybe you would have been there if I was there for you like you wanted me to be. Maybe I wouldn’t have pushed you into the arms of another guy.”
“You didn’t push me into the arms of another guy, Nick. I mean, I was lonely…and I was in a city full of people who hated me. And adding to the fact that I was having a tough pregnancy didn’t exactly help anything either.”
“Well…that was all of my fault, right? I was stressing you out.”
Sabrina took a deep breath before responding. However, before she could say anything else the waitress came back with Sabrina’s raspberry martini. “Are you two ready to order?”
Nick looked at Sabrina to see how she was going to respond.
“Oh, I haven’t even looked at the menu yet.” Sabrina responded.
“I can give you more time, no problem. In the mean time, I will bring out some biscuits for you guys.” The waitress said exchanging glances with both Sabrina and Nick.
They both agreed and thanked her.
During that little time, Sabrina’s cell phone had rang. She thought it would be Raven calling in case something was wrong with Jordan, but instead it was Kevin calling her. Sabrina slightly rolled her eyes and ignored his call by pressing the 'ignore button'.
Nick noticed her expression when she looked down at her phone sitting on the table and saw that she ignored the call. However, he remained silent. He didn’t ask any questions.
Sabrina took off her cardigan sweater and placed it beside her. Nick’s eyes were drawn to Sabrina’s swollen breasts practically jumping out at him. He felt his mouth begin to water at her sexiness. Nick couldn’t keep his eyes off of her. It was clear that her having Jordan had made her more voluptuous. He liked it.
Sabrina noticed Nick staring at her chest and not her face. She looked down and noticed her boobs were hanging out of her dress. She attempted to adjust them so they wouldn’t be hanging out so much. She raised her eyes back up to Nick to see if he were still staring. Sure enough he was.
“It’s not nice to stare.” Sabrina teased him.
Nick chuckled and finally raised his eyes up to her eyes. “Nice dress.” Nick grinned.
“Believe it or not, Raven picked this dress out. It’s a little tight. I haven’t quite gotten used to this body that Jordan has given me. I’ve been working out trying to lose this weight but—“
“Don’t.” Nick simply stated interrupting her.
Sabrina only looked at him silence slightly shocked by his response.
“I mean…if you want, you can..but I think you look….” Nick paused. He wanted to say she looked sexy, but he felt maybe he should keep his thoughts in his head. “…you look nice.” Nick finally finished his statement.
Sabrina smiled. “Thank you.”
The waitress came back to their table and placed a basket full of biscuits and butter on their table. “Ready to order?” She asked.
“You know what…I don’t think Im really hungry. Can I just get a cesar salad?” Sabrina responded and then took a sip of her raspberry martini.
“No problem. And you sir?” she looked over at Nick.
“I’ll have the same.”
“Okay, will be back shortly.” The waitress walked away.
“Since when do you eat salads?” Sabrina asked taking another sip of her raspberry martini.
“Well, I would hate to eat a steak in front of you when you just said you wanted to lose weight…even though I don’t think you need too. But hey…if that’s what Kevin wants you to do..then so be it.”
Sabrina rolled her eyes and ran her fingers thru her hair. “Do you not remember anything I said to you yesterday?”
“Which part? To sign the divorce papers or that you wanted to talk?” Nick asked and took a sip of his iced water.
Sabrina cocked her head to the side in disbelief. “Nick, Kevin doesn’t have any say in anything about my life. He’s not relevant. We’re not a couple.”
Nick quickly lowered his eyes down to her breasts and then back up to her eyes. “Then why is he always around? Is he supporting you or something? Giving you money?”
At that moment, her cell phone rang again. It was Kevin once again. Sabrina pressed the ignore button on her phone once again. She wanted to turn her phone off but she needed to be by her phone in case Raven called about Jordan.
Nick noticed her expression appear to be the same as before when she obviously pressed the ignore button. “You know you can answer that, right?” Nick told her.
“I know, but I don’t want to right now. Im talking to you. And like I said, Kevin means nothing to me, alright? The only reason he was around was because I looked at him as a friend—“
“Please…” Nick interrupted her as he sat back resting his back against the booth backrest. “…spare me the details. I know all about the friend thing. He was a friend who kissed you whenever he wanted, and wherever he wanted. He didn’t care if I was around or your family or my son. He’s a self absorbed prick…who was a really good friend of yours... I understand.” Nick stated sarcastically.
Sabrina frowned. “That self absorbed prick was going to press charges against you for breaking his nose, Nick.” Sabrina raised her voice slightly.
“So, what did you do to stop him? Have a huge make out session? You fuck him? I mean…what?”
Sabrina picked up a biscuit from the basket in front of them and threw it at him hitting him in his chest.
Nick calmly wiped the crumbs off of his caramel sweater.
“How dare you, Nick!” Sabrina argued at him speaking in a harsh quiet tone. “You know what? I am so sick of everyone thinking Im a whore! I never slept with him, alright? Never! You are the last asshole I have slept with, alright? I don’t want to sleep with anyone else! You’re the one who’s busy sleeping around having babies and shit… you’re the whore around here, not me!” Sabrina said with a frown and roughly sat back away from the table as she folded her arms across her chest pushing her swollen breasts closer together unintentionally pushing them out.
Nick glared at her. Of course his eyes lowered down to her chest and lingered there before glaring back up into her eyes.
The waitress came back to their table giving them their salads. She then poured Nick more water into his glass. “Is there anything else I can get you two?”
“Another martini, please.” Sabrina said with a slight frown.
Nick didn’t want her to drink too much since she had to drive back home. He thought she should level off her drinking with water.
“And another glass of water for her.” Nick added.
“No, I don’t need any water, thank you.” Sabrina quickly protested.
“Yes she does. Can you please bring her one?” Nick asked the waitress once again.
“No, I don’t!” Sabrina spoke thru her teeth.
“How about if I just bring an extra glass for either one of you guys, and anyone can drink it at any time they like…? How does that sound?” The waitress stated trying to defuse the situation.
“Yeah, that’s fine.” Nick responded.
The waitress smiled and walked away.
“Don’t start trying to tell me what I can and can’t do, Nick.” Nick looked down at his salad and began picking over it with his fork.
“If I had that power, you wouldn’t be with a slime ball like Kevin.” Nick said in a low tone.
Sabrina leaned forward and spoke in a low harsh tone. “Im not with him, Nick! How many times do I have to tell you.”
“It’s hard to tell when all you two do is kiss. Regardless if im in front you or not.”
“Im sorry, alright? I am. But those kisses meant nothing to me. I just…I don’t know…maybe I hoped it would make you jealous.” Sabrina said starting to calm down as she now looking down at her salad.
“Well congrats. Goal accomplished.” Nick stated flatly.
Sabrina raised her eyes back up to Nick’s face giving him an apologetic stare. “Nick…I was hurt. I felt like you were there for baby Nicky more than you were there for me when I was pregnant with your son too. When I found out that Joanna was able to name her son first after you, when clearly that’s what I wanted to be able to name your son..that hurt too. I felt like you didn’t fight hard enough for me to allow to have your name for our son. It hurt me. And when Jordan came, the fact that you were nowhere to be found…it hurt me. I didn’t know you were at the rehab treatment center at the time.”
“There’s a lot of things you don’t know.” Nick said calmly still looking down at his salad and taking a bite.
At that moment, the waitress came back with another martini for Sabrina and another glass of water. “Everything okay?” The waitress asked with a smile as she looked at both Sabrina and Nick.
Sabrina faintly smiled and nodded yes to the waitress. “Yes. Thank you.”
Nick responded yes with his mouth full.
The waitress smiled and walked away.
Sabrina took a sip from her martini glass feeling somber as she only stared down at the salad siting in front of her. She slowly raised her eyes up to Nick. “There’s something you don’t know too.”
Nick immediately raised his eyes up to her.
“Jordan’s middle name is Nicholas. So…even though he couldn’t be a junior…he still has your name as his middle name.” Sabrina paused waiting for his response.
Nick took a sip of his iced water. Once he swallowed down the food in his mouth and the water, he stated softly, “Thank you. I appreciate that.”
Sabrina took a deep breath as she stared across the table into his eyes. She gave him a small smile and glanced back down at her salad. She began picking over her salad with the fork.
Silence fell between them.
Sabrina looked up at Nick when she felt his eyes burning into her. Sure enough he was staring at her. He then asked, “Do you love him?”
“Kevin?”
Nick quickly nodded his head yes in response.
“No. I told you that I don’t.”
“Have you ever?”
“No. Never.”
“If you weren’t pregnant, would you have ever had sex with him?”
Sabrina hesitated. “No.”
Nick continued to stare at her not believing her answer due to her hesitation.
“Where are these line of questions coming from?” Sabrina asked curiously.
Nick looked down at his salad preparing to take another bite. “That’s not what I heard.”
Sabrina furrowed her brows at him. “What do you mean? What did you hear?”
Nick took a forkful of green lettuce into his mouth. He stared at Sabrina as he chewed his food before responding. “I heard that you were in love with him and he’s deeply in love with you.”
“That’s not true.” Sabrina quickly responded. “I never loved him. Where did you hear that from?”
“Does it matter?” Nick asked nonchalantly.
“Yeah it does. I want to know who’s lying on me.”
“Well…whatever feelings you had for him or whatever way he made you feel…it was all a plan.” Nick said calmly.
Sabrina felt herself getting upset. He knew something and she felt like he was dangling it over her head.
“Spit it out, Nick. What do you know?”
Nick calmly took another sip from his iced water. He then filled her in on everything Ariana had told him about the plan Joanna had to break them apart. Sabrina couldn’t believe it. Joanna, Ariana and Kevin were all crazy. She was most upset about Kevin. She thought he was genuine, but clearly he had a motive as well. Sabrina found herself gulping down her second martini glass after hearing the news.
However, Nick didn't tell her everything yet. He didn't tell her about Joanna and Ariana fighting and how he found out that Nicky wasn’t his child.
Sabrina looked down at her salad that she had not yet eaten. The waitress stopped by their table to check on them. “Is something wrong with your salad?” she asked Sabrina.
“No. It’s fine.” Sabrina said in deep thoughts thinking about what Nick had just told her about Joanna’s plan.
The waitress looked down at Nick’s plate and saw he was almost done. “Would you like for me to take that away from you, sir?”
“Yes, please. Thanks.”
The waitress took his plate and asked, “Can I get you anything else? Ma’am, do you want me to get you anything else?”
“No. Im fine.” Sabrina responded.
“Can you bring us the check please?” Nick replied.
“No dessert?”
“No, thanks.” Nick replied.
“Okay. I’ll be right back.” The waitress said and walked away.
Sabrina looked over at Nick across from her. “I guess her plan worked. It got us away from each other.”
Nick sat back and propped his arm up on the backrest of the booth. “Yeah…I guess.”
Sabrina began slowly picking over her salad.
Silence fell between them once again.
Nick finally spoke, “So…if you never loved him…why did you file for divorce? Im just curious.” Nick said as his eyes wondered down to her chest once again.
Sabrina slowly raised her eyes back up to Nick and ran her fingers thru her hair. “I thought you didn’t want me anymore. You didn’t show how much you cared for me. You weren’t there for me. I wasn’t happy. I felt like I just needed to get away.”
The waitress came back to the table to drop off the check for their meal. Sabrina stopped the waitress. “Here, you can take this. I’ve lost my appetite.”
“Oh..okay…would you like for me to take it off your ticket?”
Nick dug into his pocket pulling out his wallet. “Nah, don’t worry about it. Here’s my card.” Nick said handing over his credit card to pay for their meal.
“Okay.” The waitress said with a pleasant smile and walked away.
Nick watched Sabrina as she grabbed the extra glass of water on the table and drunk from it. “So…the fact that when you found out that baby Nicky was my child didn’t put you over the edge as in the final decision to just leave me?” Nick asked calmly.
Sabrina flipped her hair over to the side with her fingers and responded, “Yeah. That had something to do with it.”
“Right, I figured that much.” Nick said with disappointment.
“Do you care about me, Nick?” Sabrina asked as if she were afraid to hear his answer.
Nick stared at her for a moment before responding. “Does it matter anymore? Your mind is already made up to get away from me, right?”
“Why do you always have to answer a question with a question? If you ask me, I answer it. That’s the problem with you, Nick. You never tell me how you really feel about me.” Sabrina said thinking about the songs he had sung and written about her.
“Are you kidding me? I’ve always told you how I feel about you…that shit doesn’t work. So I have given up. Im tired of chasing after you. I can’t help how you no longer feel about me. If I have to move on, then I will. But im not chasing after you anymore. Im done with that shit.” Nick said upset as he adjusted himself in his seat.
It was clear he was ready to leave.
“Im not asking you to chase after me—“
“Why are we here, right now? What did you want me to say? Huh?” Nick interrupted her as he frowned and spoke in a harsh low tone to not cause any eruption in the restaurant.
“I wanted you tell me that you care. Why can’t you express yourself like you do in your songs! If I knew that’s how you felt, maybe I would feel differently, Nick!” Sabrina said angrily.
“My songs?” Nick asked with a puzzled expression.
Sabrina sighed realizing she had said too much. Brandon didn’t want her to tell Nick that she had heard his songs.
At that moment, the waitress came back with their ticket. “I went ahead and took that salad off for you. Thank you both for coming. You lovely couple have a great rest of the day!” The waitress said with a broad smile and walked away.
Sabrina grabbed her cardigan sweater and stood up. Nick watched her as she moved about. “What do you mean about my songs? What are you talking about, Brin?”
Sabrina put on her sweater and grabbed her purse. “Nevermind. Thanks for the drinks. Have a safe trip back home.” Sabrina said and quickly walked away.
“Wait…” Nick said in frustration.
He quickly signed the ticket for their meal, and grabbed his card placing it back into his wallet. He stood up and rushed after Sabrina out of the restaurant.
He saw her walking in the parking lot as her hair flapped behind her in the wind. Nick jogged up to her and grabbed her arm turning her around.
“See! Im doing it again. Im chasing after your ass!” Nick raised his voice in anger
Sabrina snatched her arm away from him. “Trust me, I didn’t want you to.”
“Well ...I wanted to, dammit!” Nick said angrily and then slowly tried to calm down.
Sabrina stopped and looked up at him as a few hair strands blew into her face.
Nick mumbled a curse and took a deep breath. He lightly raised one brow and stated calmly, “Look…I love you, alright? Is that what you want me to say?”
“No, don’t say it if you don’t mean it—“
“Well, I do. It hurts the hell out of me to see another man all over you. Especially when you were pregnant with my child. I hurt too, you know, Brin? I’ve been thru some shit these last couple of weeks. Hell, over the last few months I’ve been thru some shit. I quit my job to go to rehab. I’ve been living with my dad in D.C. and then I’ve been living with my mom in Florida. I feel like shit! I needed you too! But you weren’t there for me because you were around that fucking asshole, Kevin! How do you think that made me feel? I hate that dude…and this guy is around my son, more than me! And then I have Joanna and Ariana plotting against me because they’re both crazy as hell. That bitch put me in jail, Brin. I was in jail for two days because that bitch, Joanna, wants to get into a fight with Ariana jeopardizing my kids to be taken away by the state! And then I found out that Nicky is not even mine.”
“What?” Sabrina said in shock.
“Yeah, the bitch lied to me…” Nick said calming down from his rant. “Her and Ariana made up the DNA results copying the format from when I received Josslyn’s results from the paternity test.” Nick paused to take a deep breath as he looked down to the ground.
Sabrina raised her hand up to her lips in disbelief. She had no idea Nick had been going thru so much. “Nick…I am so sorry…” Sabrina said softly as she stepped up close to him hoping to bring his eyes up to hers. Sabrina reached out to him and placed her hand on his arm.
Nick stepped away moving away from her touch without looking at her. “You know what…I need to gas up before I leave to hit the road. So…Im just gonna go.” Nick said sadly and walked away from her.
Sabrina moved forward and this time grabbed his arm to stop him. “Wait, Nick. I don’t want you to leave yet. I mean…what is the rush to get back home? You said you’re not working, right? So…why the rush?”
Nick gazed into her eyes as hair strands blew into her face. The sun light bounced off her face giving her a radiant gorgeous look.
“I don’t want you to go. I want to be there for you. I think you need to talk about what’s going on with you. Clearly you’re hurt and Im sorry that I have added to your pain. That’s not what I want to happen. I love you too, Nick. Let’s just talk about this. Please?” Sabrina pouted.
Nick looked away from her and took a deep breath.
Sabrina added with a smile thinking about the song he wrote after they reunited at their class reunion, “Let’s give love a try one more time.”
Nick looked down at her with a suspicious look.
Sabrina giggled, “C’mon…follow me home.”
Nick watched her take a few steps away to walk toward her car.
“Im gonna get some gas first and I’ll meet you at your apartment.”
“Okay.” Sabrina smiled.
As Sabrina drove to her apartment, she noticed that Kevin had called her once again. Sabrina rolled her eyes. She definitely felt different about him now. She now realized that he was in on the plan to get her away from Nick the whole time just like Ariana. She hated him for that. She thought he was truly genuine with his actions as a friend. However, she was proven wrong.
TO BE CONTINUED ...

Chapter 28
Sabrina's Home & Jordan
_ While Raven collected her things together so she could leave, Sabrina changed
Jordan’s diaper before Nick arrived.
“What’s taking him so long? He should be here already, right?” Raven asked as she applied her lip gloss.
“I don’t know what’s taking him so long.” Sabrina said as she lifted Jordan up to her shoulder.
“Damn, I wish you guys would have stayed out longer. I enjoyed my time with my sweet nephew, Jordan.” Raven said rubbing Jordan’s back.
“I know he is a sweetie isn’t he? But I know Nick wants to see Jordan before leaving town so…”
“Girl I completely understand.” Raven said as she thought about everything Sabrina had quickly told her about Nick's drama he had went thru with his crazy baby momma, Joanna. “Alright, well Im gonna get out of your hair. If you need me to babysit my nephew again, just give me a holler girlfriend!” Raven said picking up her purse.
“I will. Thank you Raven. I love you.”
“I love you too mamá.” Raven said giving Sabrina a hug. She then looked at Sabrina in her pink dress. “I told you that dress was killer!” she teased her as she laughed.
Sabrina joined in her laughter as she escorted Raven out the door.
As Sabrina and Raven looked outside, she saw Nick’s car pulling up into the parking lot.
“Oh, there his fine singing ass is. I want details later.” Raven said quietly as she walked away. Sabrina smiled at her friend.
As Nick climbed out of his car, Raven walked by him and winked with a smile.
“Hey there handsome! Have a safe trip home!” Raven continued to walk to her car.
Nick smiled at Raven. “Thanks.”
Sabrina lightly giggled at her friend as she held Jordan tightly.
She watched Nick approach her and for some reason she melted inside. Sabrina felt that by just watching the confidence in his stride made him look so sexy.
Nick grinned when he saw Jordan. “Is he sleep?”
“No, not yet.”
Nick reached for him.
Sabrina happily handed Jordan over to Nick. They both walked into her apartment.
Sabrina rushed into her kitchen while Nick walked into her living room to have a seat on her sofa. Nick laid back on the sofa inhaling the sweet powdery scent of his baby boy that he loved so much. Just as Nick was about to close his eyes and enjoy the moment, he saw Sabrina walk into the living room with her hands behind her back. His eyes slowly swept over her body in the pink designed dress she wore. His eyes lingered over her breasts and then moved up to see her beautifully smile. Nick couldn’t help but smile.
“I have something for you.” Sabrina stated happily.
“What?”
Sabrina gradually pulled a beautiful bouquet of yellow daisies from around her back and held them out for him to see.
Nick chuckled.
“They’re for you.” Sabrina added with a smile.
“Really?”
Sabrina giggled. “Yes. Really. I stopped off at the local floral shop around the corner and picked them up…for you. I figured it was my turn to give you flowers this time. Although…I probably could have given you one of my drawings like I did when we were little…but I thought I would step it up a little.” Sabrina smiled as she sat down beside him on the sofa.
Nick laughed. “That’s right…I do remember you giving me one of your drawings when we were little. It was my first time giving you a flower.”
Sabrina smiled and nodded in agreement.
Nick took the flowers from Sabrina and raised them up to his nose inhaling the faint scent. “I love it. Thank you.” Nick said as he looked at her.
“You’re welcome.” Sabrina said noticing Jordan had dozed off. “Here, let me put him in his crib. Raven said he’s been awake this whole time so I think he’s ready for his long nap.” Sabrina said standing up and taking Jordan from Nick’s grasp.
Nick watched her walk away.
He sat forward resting his elbows on his knees as he fumbled with the flowers she had given him. He then looked up at her stereo and remembered what she said about ‘his songs’. Sabrina happily walked back into the living room adjusting her dress trying to cover her swollen breasts the best way that she could.
“Hey…what did you mean when you said you wish I would express myself like I do in my songs? What did that mean?” Nick asked curiously.
Sabrina smiled. “Don’t be mad, okay?”
Nick only looked up at her waiting for her to continue.
“And definitely don’t be mad with Brandon.” Sabrina said walking over to her stereo.
Nick dropped his head down and smirked thinking about his buddy, Brandon. “What did that asshole do?” Nick continued to smirk.
Sabrina giggled. She began playing the songs Nick had written and played on the cds Brandon had sent her.
As soon as Nick heard the 1st cd start to play where he could hear his and Brandon’s voice teasing each other, Nick stood up feeling completely embarrassed. He covered his face in embarrassment and wanted to hit stop as soon as he heard himself singing. “Oh noooo!”
Sabrina laughed and blocked him from trying to hit stop. “Nooo! Stop! Let it play. I love it.”
“Oh my God…I am going to kill Brandon! I can’t believe he sent this to you!”
Sabrina laughed and giggled at Nick’s cuteness. His cheeks were turning tomato red with embarrassment. In that moment, Sabrina felt all of her love for Nick rush over her body with a strong conviction. It was clear to her that she wanted no one else in her life but him. She laughed noticing how he paced the floor saying, ‘no, no, noooo’.
“Nick, you are so cute. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you so embarrassed before. It’s okay! Nick, you sound ah-mazing!”
“Geez…u were not supposed to hear this. Brandon... Im gonna kill him, I swear!” Nick shamefully smiled thinking about Brandon.
Sabrina laughed and walked up to Nick forcing him to stand in one place. “Nick, I love it. You’re so talented and I had no idea. I mean, I knew you were talented when you first took me to the studio with you, but I had never heard you sing or play, and you are so awesome at it. And the fact these masterpieces were in reference to me...?…Im glad Brandon sent this to me. It really opened my eyes to realize how much you really care about me. And it wasn’t just a sex thing with you either. That was nice to know.”
Nick stared at her as the 2nd song began to play about him speaking of how things were critical. Nick’s expression immediately turned into a stoned expression. Sabrina noticed he began to clench his jaw muscles as he listened to the words he sang while gazing into her eyes. Sabrina felt goose bumps all over her body as her heart began to race. The way he looked at her, did something to her. Nick slowly raised his hand up to her face and caressed her face with the back of his hand. Sabrina’s eyes dropped down from his eyes to stare at his full lips. She so badly wanted to feel his lips against hers.
Their trance was broken when Sabrina’s cell phone rang. Nick slowly backed away from her allowing her to get the phone. Sabrina looked at her cell phone on the coffee table in front of her sofa and saw that it was Kevin on the caller id.
Nick saw her expression. “Answer it.” Nick softly demanded.
Sabrina shook her head 'no'. “I don’t want to. It’s not important.”
“No, I think you should answer it. So, answer it.”
Sabrina saw him clench his jaw muscles once again. She didn’t move. She really didn’t want Kevin to spoil the moment. Before Sabrina knew it, Nick quickly picked her cell phone up and answered it.
“No, Nick! Stop!” Sabrina said attempting to stop him.
Nick raised his arm up slightly pushing her away. “Hello?” Nick answered the phone in a huff. Sabrina immediately backed away not sure what words were going to be exchanged.
“Uh…I am trying to reach Sabrina. I think I have the wrong number.” Kevin said on the other end of the phone.
“No asshole, you called the right number. What do you want?” Nick responded.
Kevin hesitated. “I would like to talk to her please.”
“NO. How about you stop calling my wife before I kick your ass.”
“Or, I could just press charges against you. Would you like that?” Kevin said in a threatening tone. “Press charges on me mother fucker, I don’t give a fuck!” Nick responded angrily.
Sabrina jumped slightly getting worried that Kevin would really press charges against Nick. Sabrina walked up to Nick trying to grab the phone away from him.
Nick lightly pushed her away from him so he could continue talking to Kevin.
“Alright! Fine! We’ll see about that tough guy.” Kevin said angrily into the phone.
“Okay, well bring it. Come say that shit in my face. You just stay the fuck away from my wife if you know what’s good for you.” Nick said in a harsh tone with confidence.
Nick suddenly heard the dial tone indicating that Kevin had hung up in his face.
Nick lowered Sabrina’s cell phone and smirked while mumbling a curse. He tossed Sabrina her cell phone toward her.
Sabrina flinched and quickly caught her phone as she glared at Nick. “Are you crazy? Why would you tell him to press charges?”
“So let him! I will just kick his ass, simple as that.” Nick stated nonchalantly.
“No! Nick! See, that is what im talking about! Your temper. Something needs to be done about that. You can’t just go around fighting people!” Sabrina yelled at him.
“How long were you going to have this guy calling you and coming around?” Nick asked angrily.
“I was going to tell him!”
“When?!”
“In my own time, on my own terms!” Sabrina argued.
“That’s not good enough for me.” Nick said lowering his voice.
“So you rather go to jail over some stupid shit like that?”
“Do you want him or me? Because right now, I can’t tell.” Nick said angrily.
“I want you, asshole!” Sabrina pushed him as she walked over toward her dining table.
She picked up the divorce papers and walked back over to Nick as he stood in the living room. She held up the divorce papers in his face and ripped the papers into pieces.
“You see! I want you! I love you! I don’t want to lose you over some dumb shit!” Sabrina spoke loudly throwing the pieces of the papers up into the air allowing them to scatter onto the floor.
Nick stared at her as he saw her eyes begin to tear up.
“I love you, Nick. I do.” Sabrina said softly. I just—“
Sabrina was cut off when Nick smoothly and swiftly stepped up to her, cradling her face with his hands, and planted a kiss on her lips. Sabrina was caught by surprise for a second but quickly settled into the touch of his full lips on hers. He slowly deepened the kiss as Sabrina kissed him back allowing a small moan to escape from within. She had missed his lips so much. She raised her hands up, lightly gripping his wrists as she continued to kiss him.
Sabrina could feel herself getting lost in his kisses. It had been so long since she had felt his lips against hers. She dropped her hands down to his torso and tightly fist his sweater into her palms pulling him closer to her as she began to hungrily kiss him.
Nick moaned with delight when he felt how passionate Sabrina became. He quickly returned the hunger in her kiss as he dug his fingers into her hair. Sabrina began sliding her fingers underneath his sweater tightly gripping his toned sides and around his back while Nick slowly backed her into a wall.
Sabrina suddenly felt a weird self conscious when she felt Nick grabbing and squeezing her hips down to her butt. The thought of her not being in shape and him grabbing what she felt was fat was starting to get to her as she lightly attempted to push his hands away.
Nick lowered his kisses down to her neck while moving one hand to squeeze her swollen breast thru her dress. Sabrina breathlessly gasped at his touch while feeling a pleasurable pain from him squeezing her tender breast.
Nick pulled her inches away from the wall and searched the back of her dress for her zipper. Nick tugged on her zipper almost ripping it from trying to quickly undress her. Sabrina began to breathe heavy with passion as she ran her fingers thru his hair. He quickly brought his lips back up to hers. Their tongues continued to dance in a heated battle while Nick attempted to pull her dress off from around her shoulders. Sabrina quickly pulled her arms out from the sleeves of her dress. She continued to passionately kiss Nick’s lips exposing her laced pink bra with her dress snug around her waist.
Nick pulled away from her kiss and quickly took his sweater off over his head. Sabrina could see the sexual lust in his eyes as he quickly attached his lips back on hers.
He swiftly picked her up wrapping her legs around his waist. Nick carried her into her bedroom as he gently laid her down on her bed. He climbed on top of her allowing his tongue to trace down her neck. Sabrina could feel Nick tugging at her dress to pull it down from around her hips. Sabrina’s self conscious was starting to get in the way once again as the light in her bedroom and the sunlight from outside shined brightly into her room. She thought it was too bright in her room and he would be able to see how clearly she was now out of shape.
“Nick….wait…wait.” Sabrina said breathlessly.
“What’s wrong?” Nick whispered as he looked down at her with concern.
Sabrina attempted to pull her dress back up to her chest. “I can’t…we can’t…” Sabrina said searching for the right thing to say as she lightly pushed him further away from her.
Nick halfway moved off of her as he watched her pull her dress back up and slide her arms back thru the sleeves. Nick gave her a confused expression. “Why? What’s wrong?”
Sabrina looked up at him with apologetic eyes. “Doctor’s orders. No sex for 6 weeks.”
Nick looked down at her body with complete and utter disappointment. He mumbled a curse as he flopped down on top of her resting his face in the nook of her neck.
“Im sorry.” Sabrina said wrapping her arms around his muscular shoulders.
Nick lightly kissed her neck. “It’s okay. I’ve waited this long…I can wait a few more weeks.” Nick chuckled.
Sabrina giggled. “I love you.”
Nick raised his head to look down at her. “I love you too, baby. I’ve missed you so much.” He then looked down at her body. “But why are you trying to cover your body?”
Sabrina rolled her eyes. “Im not.”
Nick smiled. “Yes you are. Baby, you’re beautiful.” Nick lowered his hands and sexually squeezed her hips down to her thighs pulling her leg up around his waist. “I think you are sexy as hell.” Sabrina blushed. “Stop it. I know you don’t mean it. Im going to lose weight, don’t worry.”
“I wish you wouldn’t.” Nick said softly as he brushed his lips over her lips.
They began tenderly kissing each other’s lips.
Nick slowly pulled away from the kiss and gazed into her eyes as he lightly moved a strand of her hair away from face.
“Don’t go home. Stay here. Please?” Sabrina softly begged Nick.
“I don’t know. I have to get back to check on the custody battle im trying to win for Joss.”
“So leave in the morning. I want you to tell me all about this custody battle thing. I want to be there for you in any way possible. It’s my turn to be there for you.” Sabrina said as she caressed his jaw line up into his hair.
“Yeah?”
“Yeah…” Sabrina smiled.
Nick leaned down and kissed her once again. “Under one condition.” Nick said lightly brushing his lips across her lips.
“Anything.” Sabrina replied softly.
“Will you re-marry me?” Nick smiled.
Sabrina pushed him away slightly to view his facial expression. “What?”
“Let’s renew our vows. Let’s do the whole wedding thing you’ve always wanted. Let’s do it the right way. Let’s set a date, go on a honeymoon…you know, the whole nine yards.”
“Are you serious?” Sabrina smiled.
“Yeah…why not? Let’s just start over. Let’s go on dates and all that stuff.”
“But Nick, I don’t have a job…you don’t have a job either. How will we be able to afford a wedding and a honeymoon?”
“You, my dear…are worried about the wrong thing.” Nick said leaning down nibbling on her neck. Sabrina giggled.
Nick smiled against her neck. “Is that a yes?”
“Yes.” Sabrina smiled.
“Yes?”
Sabrina giggled, “Yes!”
Nick chuckled and began kissing her lips.
At that moment, Jordan began making fussy noises that turned into a cry.
“I think Jordan is saying yes too.” Sabrina smiled.
Nick chuckled. “I got him.” He slowly moved off of her and got up to check on Jordan.
Sabrina sat up as she flipped her hair to the side with her fingers. She admired Nick’s muscular physique as he walked away toward Jordan’s crib. She felt that while she gained weight, he looked like he had become more toned and fit.
She slowly climbed out of bed holding her dress up against her chest since the zipper was still down in the back. She walked over to her jewelry box sitting on her dresser. She took out her wedding ring and smiled. She walked over to Nick who was still standing near Jordan’s crib with his back to her. Sabrina walked up closely behind Nick wrapping her arms around his bare torso.
“Can you do something for me?” Sabrina asked softly with a smile.
Nick turned around to face her while holding Jordan in his arms awaiting her to continue.
“Can you put this back on my finger?” Sabrina asked speaking of her wedding ring.
Nick grinned and took the ring from her. Sabrina held out her left hand while Nick slowly slid her wedding ring down her ring finger. Sabrina smiled as she looked up at him.
“Im never taking it off again.” Sabrina spoke quietly.
“I love you.” Nick smiled and gently placed his hand behind her head to pull her in close as he leaned into her for a kiss on her lips.
“I love you more.” Sabrina said when they finally pulled away from their kiss.
“I have an idea.” Nick said with a smile as he bounced Jordan in his arms.
Sabrina rolled her eyes and giggled. “Uh-oh…and what is that?”
“I want to show you how much my love for you is not a ‘sex thing’. True, the doctor said no sex for 6 weeks…well forget that. Let’s not do it until after we renew our vows. After we have our wedding ceremony. I want you to pick the date and everything as if we never got married.”
“Are you serious?”
“Yeah, why not?”
Sabrina laughed. “Are you sure? What if we can’t renew our vows until like…6 months down the line.”
“Ouch…” Nick said giving her a shocked expression.
Sabrina laughed.
Nick joined in her laughter and commented, “Well…if that’s how long we have to wait…then, so be it.”
“Well, what if I don’t want to wait that long.”
“Then be prepared to be turned down.”
Sabrina laughed in shock. “Are you serious?! You would really turn me down for sex?”
“Yes…I would.” Nick smirked and walked away from Sabrina over toward her bed.
“You are so lying…” Sabrina accused him playfully.
“Okay, so I am, but it sounded good, right?” Nick laughed. He then became serious as he looked up at her. “But seriously, I’d wait for you. I don’t want you to feel like our relationship is just based on sex like before. Things will be different this time around. I promise.”
Sabrina faintly smiled at him. She then walked towards him and sat on her bed sitting beside him. She looked down at Jordan in his arms and then looked up at Nick. “Yeah, but, I don’t want you to stop trying to have sex with me. I need to know you still want me sexually. Besides…its fun to turn you down.” Sabrina teased him.
Nick chuckled. “Ohhh, so you like turning me down! I get it now!” Nick teased her as he laughed.
Sabrina wrapped her arm around his neck pulling him towards her so she could kiss his lips once again. “You’re so cute.” Sabrina said pecking his lips several times.
Nick ended up spending the night with Sabrina. They talked and filled each other in on all of the details since they had been apart. Nick even told her about the girl he met in D.C. named Diana. Sabrina gave Nick the details about her and Kevin. She admitted she was wrong and apologized thru out their conversation.
They spoke about getting custody of Jossyln and how Sabrina would feel about it. Even though Sabrina felt like her and Josslyn hadn’t quite bonded yet, she vowed to Nick that she would love Josslyn just as her own child.
Nick became worried about how Cody would perceive him since the big fight that happened months ago. Sabrina told Nick that he would just have to talk to Cody. She was sure that as long as she was happy with Nick, Cody would be happy as well. Nick agreed. He wanted to have that talk with Cody.
Sabrina told Nick what Josh had said about her when he picked up Cody. She couldn’t believe he mentioned Zack’s name and called her a whore. Nick didn’t like what she was saying. He felt it was time that he and Josh had a talk. Sabrina agreed. She was willing to stand by whatever decision Nick felt needed to be done.
It felt good to know that they had each other’s back after all was said and done. The way best friends should be. The way a married couple should be.
------------------------
“What’s taking him so long? He should be here already, right?” Raven asked as she applied her lip gloss.
“I don’t know what’s taking him so long.” Sabrina said as she lifted Jordan up to her shoulder.
“Damn, I wish you guys would have stayed out longer. I enjoyed my time with my sweet nephew, Jordan.” Raven said rubbing Jordan’s back.

Sabrina joined in her laughter as she escorted Raven out the door.

Sabrina's Bedroom
_ Sabrina woke up the next morning to the sound of Jordan
crying in his crib. Sabrina was resting her head on Nick’s bare chest when she
looked at the time. It was 7:40am. “Like clockwork.” Sabrina said quietly to
herself thinking of Jordan and his sleeping schedule.
She looked at Nick’s handsome face who was slowly waking up when he felt her move. Sabrina smiled and moved over him in the process to get out of bed to check on Jordan. Sabrina flipped her hair to the side and leaned down to lightly peck Nick on the lips.
“Mmm…good morning.” Nick said in a groggy voice. Nick adjusted himself by raising his pelvis up against her.
“Good morn—whoa, Nick…” Sabrina said and looked down at him.
She had felt the hardness of his male member press up against her. She snickered and continued to move across him to get Jordan.
“Really, Nick?” she smiled as she walked toward Jordan.
Nick stretched with a smile on his face. “Sorry. It’s called morning wood. That’s what happens when I don’t have sex for several months.”
Sabrina giggled as she picked up Jordan. “Uhh, that’s a lie. I can recall a few morning woods from you a night right after sex.” Sabrina then turned her attention to Jordan saying, “Hey mommy’s big boy. You slept good last night. Im so proud of you!” Sabrina said cutely to Jordan as she cradled him.
Nick grinned as he watched her walk out of the bedroom with Jordan in her arms wearing a pink cami tank top and black short pajama shorts. Nick slowly got out of her bed and walked to the bathroom. When he came out, he heard his cell phone vibrating when he passed his blue jeans laying across the small stool in Sabrina’s bedroom. He didn’t know he had his phone on vibrate the whole night. He searched thru his jeans pockets and picked up his cell phone. “Hello?”
“Nicholas, honey, where have you been? I have been calling you all morning.” Nick heard his mother say into the phone with a slight panic in her tone.
“Yeah, sorry, I didn’t know my phone was on vibrate.”
“Where are you? Are you okay?”
Nick frowned slightly curious as to why she sounded so panicky. “Im fine. Im still in Atlanta. Don’t worry Im leaving in a few. What’s wrong?”
Sandra sighed. “Nicholas, you know that girl you were telling me about who helped Joanna make up all of those lies with baby Nicky…”
“Ariana? Yeah, what about her?” Nick interrupted his mother.
“Honey, I heard on the 5 o’clock news this morning that she was found dead in her apartment late last night.”
Nick stood there in shock. He knew he didn’t hear his mother correctly. There was no way she just said that Ariana was found dead in her apartment. There was no way.
Sabrina walked back into the bedroom holding Jordan and feeding him his bottle as she sat down on the bed. She looked up at Nick and noticed the disturbed expression on his face.
“What? Are you sure?” Nick said in shock as he sat down on the stool.
Sabrina became concerned when she saw Nick’s reaction as he spoke on the phone.
“Yes. It was the top headlines this morning on the news as I got ready for work. Im at work now. Casey Novak wanted to know when you will be in to her office today. Things will have to be moved along since this girl was found dead. They don’t know what happened. The news said her neighbor came to check on her since they hadn’t seen her in days. She could have been dead for days…they just don’t know.” Sandra informed her son.
Nick lowered his head down as he slumped over listening to his mother tell him the news. Nick thought about the last words he said to Ariana. He had to admit, they were really harsh.
Sabrina was now worried to see Nick so down. She got up from the bed and slowly walked over to him and closely stood in front of him while still holding Jordan.
“Nick, you need to come home…now.” Sandra alerted Nick.
“Okay. Im on my way.” Nick said somberly into the phone and ended the call.
“Baby, what’s going on?” Sabrina asked with concern as she lightly ran her fingers thru the short curls of his hair.
Nick slowly sat up without looking up at her. He reached out to grab her hips and slowly moved her closer in between his legs. He slowly wrapped his arms around her waist as he slid his hands underneath her tank top, caressing the bare skin of her back embracing her. Sabrina adjusted Jordan allowing Nick to rest his head against her.
“Nick…?” Sabrina asked feeling worried.
A few seconds pass before Nick lightly pushes her away so he can look up at her. “Ariana was found dead in her apartment.”
“What!” Sabrina said in complete shock.
“I have to get back home.” Nick said immediately springing to his feet.
Sabrina watched Nick as he started to move about in her room preparing to leave. “Well, wait…I’ll come with you.”
Nick looked at Sabrina as he put his jeans on over his boxers. “Brin…you can’t.”
Sabrina immediately began moving about trying to get her clothes together. “Yes I can. I’ll just call Josh, to see if he can keep Cody or either drop Cody off at my Aunt Kelly’s, or maybe Raven’s mom…and then I can get—“
“Babe…” Nick interrupted her as he gently grabbed her shoulders to stop her. “You need to stay here. Stay here with the kids. I’ll be fine. This is my mess, so let me handle it.”
“Yeah, but your mess is my mess too…remember?” Sabrina said looking intently into his eyes.
Nick smiled lightly as he cradled her face into his hands. “Thank you. But I really think you should stay here. Cody is coming home soon, and I don’t need another strike against me from Cody for taking you away from him. So, be here for him, okay?” Nick leaned forward and softly kissed her lips.
Sabrina kissed him back with disappointment.
Nick pulled away and quickly grabbed a shirt from his bag and threw it on over his head.
“Are you sure?” Sabrina asked as she watched him move about.
“Yeah. I’ll call you.” Nick said as he gathered his things.
Sabrina saw that Jordan was done with his bottle. She brought Jordan up on her shoulder and began patting his back helping him to burp. “Well…maybe I’ll come down a little later…?”
“No. It’s okay. Really.” Nick responded without looking at her.
Sabrina started to get frustrated. She frowned as she continued to pat Jordan's back. “I don’t understand why you don’t want me around? I mean, I thought we talked about this last night. We’re supposed to be there for each other.”
Nick turned around to see her expression. “Hey, relax. I just don’t want you leaving Cody, and I don’t want you toting Jordan around.”
“I told you, I can get someone to watch Cody and Jordan, it’s not a problem.” Sabrina protested. “Like you’re really going to leave Jordan for a long period of time when your 5 hours away.” Nick said still moving about.
Sabrina sighed as she furrowed her brows. “Well how long are you going to be down there?” Sabrina asked getting angry.
“I don’t know, Brin. Until I get everything figured out…I don’t know.”
“Well, what if I need you here?” Sabrina argued.
“Dammit, Brin,” Nick raised his voice and slammed his bag down on the bed. “…What do you want from me? I can’t be in two places at once!” Nick argued back feeling frustrated.
Sabrina narrowed her eyes at him and calmly walked out of the room with Jordan now laying against her chest.
Nick took a deep breath and placed his hands on his waist. He mumbled a curse and quietly zipped his bag. He picked up his bag and slowly walked into the living room where he saw Sabrina sitting on her sofa still holding Jordan.
Nick rubbed the back of his neck as he stared at her. “Brin…Im sorry I yelled at you. I just have a lot going thru my mind right now.”
Sabrina crossed her legs and looked at the television ignoring Nick.
Nick sighed and dropped his bag down to the floor. He walked over to the sofa and sat beside her. “Im not leaving with you upset with me.”
“Im not upset.” Sabrina stated nonchalantly.
“Yes you are.”
“No Im not.”
“Yes you are, Brin.”
“No…Im not.”
“Then what are you?”
“I just don’t get you, Nick. You’re so hot and cold with me.” Sabrina pouted without looking at him.
“Baby, Im trying to do what’s best for us. Im looking out for the kids. I don’t want Cody upset with me that he couldn’t see you because of me. The little guy, he’s pissed off with me for hurting his mother. I can’t live with myself if that happened. And the fact that I had Jordan for a full day, it drove you crazy. And I was only minutes away from you. Imagine being 5 hours away from him. How would you feel?”
Sabrina only looked at him as she gently rubbed Jordan’s back. She knew deep down inside Nick was right.
“So c’mon, Brin. Don’t be this way.”
“But you were like you needed to get home. Why can’t this be your home? Here in Atlanta.”
Nick gazed into her eyes as he remained silent. Sabrina stared back at him as if challenging him. Nick chuckled. “I still have to go back and get the rest of my things, right?”
Sabrina continued to stare at him with a blank expression. She then turned her head back towards the television. “It’s not like you have a job to get back to. I don’t see why you can’t just live here in Atlanta.”
“I didn’t say I couldn’t.” Nick stated softly.
Sabrina turned her attention back to Nick. “I just want you here, Nick.”
Nick slid closer to her and wrapped his arm around her. “I will be here. I am here. You just take care of the kids for me, and I will be back in your arms so we can take care of the kids together. Okay?”
“When?” Sabrina pouted.
“A few days maybe. I don’t want to give you an exact date because I don’t want you pissed off at me.” Nick chuckled.
Sabrina faintly smiled at him. “Just come back to me.”
Nick leaned into her moving inches away from her lips, bringing his hand up to her chin. “I promise.” He whispered.
They began passionately kissing each other. Nick slowly pulled away and looked down at Jordan sitting comfortably in Sabrina’s arms sucking on his pacifier. Nick leaned down and kissed Jordan’s forehead. “See you shortly little man.” Nick stood to his feet. “Do you mind if I grab a bottle of water from the fridge?” Nick asked.
“Sure.” Sabrina responded as she stood up placing Jordan on his cushioned pillow in the nook of her sofa so she could walk Nick out the door.
As Nick walked out of her kitchen with the bottle of water he saw Sabrina standing near the front door putting her hair up into a funky ponytail waiting for him. His eyes slowly swept up and down her body admiring her curvy figure as the thin spaghetti strap tank top she wore stuck to her body like paint, making it noticeable she wasn’t wearing a bra. Her short pajama shorts showed off her smooth tanned legs. Nick thought she looked so sexy and wish they were able to be intimate with each other last night, but he was proud of himself for not making any sexual advances toward her.
He grinned as he walked up to her. He lightly squeezed her hips and planted one last kiss firmly on her lips. “I’ll call you.”
Sabrina nodded her head ‘okay’ as she dropped her hands down to her side from putting her hair up in a ponytail.
She followed Nick to the door as he opened it. Nick quickly stopped and turned to her while closing up the door. Sabrina looked up at him with a confused expression wondering why he stopped.
“What?” Sabrina asked.
“Uhhh…you’re not walking me out, are you?”
“Yes…why?” Sabrina asked slowly.
“You have some neighbors outside and I really don’t think you should go outside like….that.” Nick said trying to break it down to her easily.
Sabrina looked down at herself. “What’s wrong with what I have on? Are you saying I look too fat?” Sabrina frowned.
“Noooo…Im saying I don’t want other men knowing what my wife is working with …especially when im not around. I think the question is do you usually walk out of the house with wearing just something like that?”
Sabrina folded her arms across her chest. “No.”
“Okay…so why start now?” Nick chuckled trying to lighten the situation.
Sabrina quickly marched off to her room saying, “Geez, Nick.”
Seconds later Sabrina came out of her bedroom wearing an oversized gray sweatshirt hoodie. She extended her hands out and asked sarcastically, “Better?”
“I adore it.” Nick leaned forward wanting to give her another kiss as Sabrina walked up to him. Sabrina leaned back avoiding his kiss. “No. If you want another kiss, you have to hurry back in town and get it.” She smirked as reached around him to open the door up for him to leave.
Nick chuckled. “Alright, deal.”
Nick walked out of her apartment and looked out into the parking lot. Sabrina saw a familiar car in the parking lot. She then saw her son Cody hop out of the car. Nick looked back at Sabrina and asked, “Is that Cody’s dad, Josh?”
Sabrina sighed. She knew this day would come sooner or later when they would meet. However, she didn’t think it would be like this.
She brought her attention back to Nick. “Yeah, that’s him. He’s early.”
Nick decided to stand near her door so he could meet Josh while Sabrina stood there at the door to watch Jordan.
Cody walked up toward Sabrina and Nick looking tired.
“Hey baby! You guys are early…” Sabrina said happily as she reached out for him.
“Hey! Yeah, he has to go to work, so…” Cody responded giving his mother a hug.
“Hey Cody. How’s it going?” said Nick.
“When did you get here?” Cody asked curiously looking up at Nick.
“Friday night. I must have just missed you. Did you have a good weekend?” Nick replied.
“Mmm-hmm.” Cody said looking back at his father who was now approaching them.
“Cody, why don’t you go inside and say hi to your brother.” Sabrina said lightly pushing his head directing him inside their apartment.
Cody frowned a bit. He then shrugged his shoulders and walked inside.
“And who are you?” Josh asked with a stern expression.
“Nick…nice to finally meet you.” Nick introduced himself as he extended his hand out.
Josh swept his eyes up and down over Sabrina and then brought his attention back to Nick. He finally shook Nick’s hand in greeting.
“Im Josh. Cody’s dad.”
“I figured as much.” Nick said flatly.
Sabrina awkwardly shifted her weight on one leg as she stood there watching the two men who she now had a son from each.
“So you’re the husband, huh?” Josh stated to Nick.
“That would be me.”
“Yeah…it’s kind of hard to tell who’s who around here when she always has so many different guys running in and out of her house around my son, ya know?”
“Fuck you, Josh!” Sabrina said angrily as she took a step toward him.
Nick held his arm up to stop Sabrina from approaching him.
“Josh, I really don’t think that what she has going on in or out of this house is any of your business.” Nick said firmly.
“My son is in this house…therefore, it is my business.” Josh said firmly not afraid to back down from Nick.
Sabrina didn’t like the direction this was going in. She looked back into the apartment to see Cody walking out of the kitchen and walking up toward Jordan on the sofa. She then turn her attention back to Nick and Josh.
Sabrina tugged on Nick’s arm. “Nick, don’t worry about it…”
Nick lightly chuckled as he gently pushed Sabrina away from him. He slowly became more serious as he spoke to Josh. “Right…well, see…I don’t know what you’re insinuating, but…I don’t think your son, or my son, and I definitely know that I don’t appreciate what you’re trying to insinuate about their mother and my wife. So, I would suggest that you never speak in this nature about their mother and my wife ever again. I would really hate for a nice meeting like this to turn out so wrong. You understand what Im saying, right?”
Josh only stood there looking Nick square in the eye showing no fear. His attention turned to Cody laughing inside Sabrina’s apartment. He was apparently laughing at something on the television.
“Look, all that I ask is that you treat my kid with respect.” Josh with a tight lip.
“No doubt. I love Cody like he is my own.” Nick replied.
“Yeah, but he’s mine and I’d do anything for him.”
“That’s not true, because if it was, you would have been there for him 8 years ago.” Sabrina said with an attitude.
“Im not going there with you right now, Brin.” Josh replied.
“Then leave.” Sabrina snapped.
Josh turned his attention back to Nick. “Better you than me.” He then looked inside the apartment and yelled out to Cody, “See ya buddy!”
“Bye dad!” Cody yelled just waving his hand in the air without looking out the door.
Josh gave both Sabrina and Nick one last glance and walked away in silence.
Sabrina linked her arm around Nick’s arm and looked up at him. “Thanks, baby.”
Nick kept his eyes on Josh as he got in his car to drive away. “I gotta go, Brin.” Nick looked into the apartment and saw Cody sitting next to Jordan. He stepped a few steps back inside. “Hey Cody, you think maybe we can talk one day? There are some things we really need to talk about.”
Cody shrugged as he placed the pacifier back into Jordan’s mouth when it fell out. “I guess.” He replied flatly.
“Okay. Cool. See you later, okay?”
“Alright.” Cody said without looking at him.
Sabrina faintly smiled as she stared at Cody not really paying attention to Nick. She hoped that one day Cody would be able to trust Nick again the way that she now does. “Cody, Im going to walk Nick out to his car really quick. Okay?” Sabrina said.
“Okay.” Cody said without looking at her.
Sabrina placed her hands on her hips as she followed Nick outside to his car barefoot. She furrowed her brows as the sun glared in her eyes. Nick placed his bag in the back seat of his car.
“He wasn’t saying anything that I don’t already know, right?” Nick asked sounding insecure about what Josh said.
Sabrina raised her hand up to shield the sun as she looked up at Nick. “You mean Josh? No, he wasn’t. He wasn’t saying shit.”
“Okay.”
“Okay.” Sabrina responded as if sealing that conversation to a close. Sabrina lowered her hand down and placed it back on her hips. “Call me.”
“I will.” Nick stated softly.
Nick looked down at Sabrina and wrapped his arm around her neck and pulled her close. “I gotta go. I love you.” He leaned down and planted a kiss on her lips.
When Nick pulled away, Sabrina replied with a pout, “I love you too.”
Nick removed his arm from around her neck and proceeded to get into his car. Sabrina stood back and watched him start his car.
“You’re not mad are you?” Sabrina asked sensing he was slightly different ever since the exchange he had with Josh.
“Nope.” Nick said shifting his car into reverse. “See you in a bit.” He winked at her and pulled out of the parking space.
Sabrina sadly waved bye to him and blew him a kiss with her hand as she watched him drive off.
TO BE CONTINUED ...
