Sabrina's Job
_ Sabrina rushed into her office with Gary following close
behind her. Both were holding a lot of files in their hands.
“Sabrina, honey, I told you I can get it.” Gary said as he stood in front of her desk while she sat down behind her desk typing away on her computer.
“I know, Gary, but Mr. Connery will kick my butt if it’s not right.”
“You don’t trust me?”
“I do…” Sabrina said not looking up at him. Her printer began printing a few pages as she continued, “…but you know Im a perfectionist.”
Gary smiled and rolled his eyes as he sighed. “I know you are honey…whew, don’t I know it.”
Sabrina giggled as her desk phone began to ring. In the mist of her laugh, she picked up her phone answering, “This is Sabrina.”
“Oh my God…baby, why are you still at work? You’re supposed to be gone.”
It was Nick.
Sabrina’s smile spread wider across her face when she heard what she felt was his sexy voice. “Ohhhh, I know, I know…” Sabrina paused and looked at Gary staring back at her. She then gestured toward her printer and said to Gary, “Gary, can you please go make like 50 copies of those forms from off the printer? Please? Thank you!”
Gary nodded as he grabbed for the forms off the printer. He then stated, “I’ll be right back, boss lady.” He then quickly rushed out of her office.
Sabrina exhaled and spoke into the phone. “Hey you.”
“Hey yourself. The longer you’re there, in Atlanta, the longer it will take for you to get here.” he responded.
“Baby, I know…”
Nick smiled as he heard her panic. “Listen, you should have let me buy you a ticket to fly down here instead of driving. That way you wouldn’t be so tired, and you could leave your job when you got ready.”
“I knowwww, Nick, I hear you.” Sabrina giggled as she continued to type out an email on her computer. “Give me…15 more minutes, and Im out of here.”
“Baby, just make sure you are here by 6. I have a lot of things planned for us, but I really need you here at least by 6. Plus…I miss your ass, so you need to hurry up.”
“I miss you too. And yes, I will definitely be there by then. I will be there wayyy before then, okay?” “Alright. Call me as soon as you leave out of there.”
Sabrina agreed and they quickly said their goodbyes.
About forty-five minutes later, Sabrina was finally leaving out of her office. She closed her office door and walked over to Gary and Lilly’s desks. Before Sabrina could even say anything, Lilly asked, “Oh Sabrina! I have that one o’clock meeting today with the co-designers of Frito Lays Chips. Did you want me to tell them about the new suggestive design?”
Sabrina propped her arms on Lilly’s high desk saying, “No. Let’s wait ‘til Tuesday when I come back.”
“Tuesday?! I thought you were coming back on Monday!” Gary said loudly as he stood up at his desk.
Everyone in the open office area filled with people working in their cubicles looked up from their computers.
“Gary, I told you I was coming back on Tuesday. That’s why I was trying to help you with those forms.”
Gary walked around his desk and hugged Sabrina tightly. “Oh! Bless you child.”
Sabrina laughed. “You’re welcome.” Sabrina pulled away from Gary’s hug and looked at Lilly. “Can you get Raven on the line and tell her to meet me downstairs?”
“No need, Im walking up on you.” Raven said as she approached Sabrina with a smile on her face. She then looked down at her watch on her wrist. “You, my friend, are late.”
“I know. I have to make one last stop at Mr. Connery’s office and then Im outta here.” Sabrina informed her.
Raven escorted Sabrina as they headed to the office of Sabrina’s boss, Sean Connery. Sabrina peeked her head into her boss’s office. “Mr. Connery, Im gone.”
The poised older man looked up to see Sabrina’s pleasant face sticking thru his door. He briefly moved the phone away from his mouth and said to Sabrina, “Have a safe trip dear.”
Sabrina thanked him and waved bye to him.
Raven walked with Sabrina out to the parking lot toward Sabrina’s car. Raven noticed there weren’t any luggage in the back seat of her car. “Girl, is your luggage in the trunk of the car?”
“No. I have to go home and get it.”
“Girl, Nick is going to be pissed that you’re leaving so late. You’re going all the way home?”
“Well I wasn’t going to drive 5 hours to Gainesville in these clothes! And then, I have to get some gas, I need to get—“
“You need to get going!” Raven laughed interrupting Sabrina.
Sabrina paused and laughed with her best friend Raven. She wrapped her arms around her saying her goodbyes.
“Have fun. Drive safe. And try not to have too much sex. I mean just because you’re already pregnant by the man doesn’t mean you can have sex all day…everyday…24/7…non stop…” Sabrina laughed at her friend. “Okay! I got it, Rave!”
“Damn, on second thought...I wish I had a man to do all those things with.” Raven said in deep thoughts.
Sabrina laughed at her friend as she playfully hit her arm. “Okay, Im gone!”
“Kelly is picking Cody up from school today, right?” Raven asked.
“Yes!” Sabrina answered referring to her aunt Kelly and her son Cody.
Within the next minute, Sabrina quickly drove off heading back toward her townhome. She was so excited. She hadn’t seen her best friend and who was now officially known as her boyfriend, Nick, in three weeks. It had been three weeks since the last time her and Nick were physically together. Which was the same night she told him that she was pregnant with his child. Due to her busy work schedule and Nick’s busy work schedule of working night shifts, it was hard for them to spend a lot of time together via phone or even video chat. Their long distance relationship was definitely a challenge for them. Sabrina was now about 8 weeks pregnant. No one would be able to tell by just looking at her. Her belly was still flat, however Sabrina felt her hips were already starting to spread. Raven always told her she was crazy and it was totally all in her head.
Sabrina’s aunt, Kelly, was happy yet concerned for Sabrina. She was happy she was going to have another baby, however she wished it was at another time. The long distance part of her niece’s relationship with Nick, kind of bothered her. However, Kelly felt that as long as Sabrina was happy, she would keep quiet and support her niece by any means necessary.
Sabrina changed into her skinny blue jeans and a long sleeve plaid top that tied in the front showing off her midriff. She slid into her dark brown ugg boots and grabbed her black stiletto shoes while toting her luggage. It was a beautiful chilly Friday morning in Atlanta. Sabrina was sure she was going to be in Gainesville by at least 4:30pm. It was going to be a long 5 hour drive.
Sabrina made one last check around the house. She peeked into her son, Cody’s room. He still had his birthday party hat hanging off the headboard of his bed. She smiled at the picture he had posted on his wall of the two of them hugging on his 9th birthday just a week ago. She partially closed up his door as she walked away thinking about how much fun Cody had when he turned nine years old.
As she walked down the stairs she thought about the big hug he gave her that morning when she took him to school. “Don’t drive too fast, and watch for the police. You don’t want speeding tickets, do you mom?” Cody asked with sincerity.
Sabrina couldn’t help but laugh at her son.
Sabrina finally locked up her town home and hopped into her car. She immediately called Nick as she pulled away from her home.
“Where are you?” Nick answered the phone acknowledging that it was Sabrina.
Sabrina laughed at his impatience. “Im leaving now—“
“Oh my God, Brin, you’re just now leaving your job?”
“No, I left there a long time ago. Im leaving my house and I have to go to the gas station and then Im on my way to you.” Sabrina smiled cutely.
Nick sighed. “Why didn’t you just let me buy you a plane ticket? You would be here quicker.” Sabrina laughed. “No, I want the experience. I want to see the scenery. I’ve never been to Gainesville, and I have never driven into Florida, so I think it will be cool.”
“You could have done that another time, Bri-bear.”
Sabrina laughed.
Nick continued as he chuckled, “Drive safely…please.”
“I will. I promise.” Sabrina smiled.
“And if you get lost, please call me. We have to get you a GPS system in your car.” Nick said in a matter of fact tone.
“Oh my gosh…you are such a worry wart. Nick, baby, I got it. I will call you.”
Nick smiled and ended the call shortly after.
“Sabrina, honey, I told you I can get it.” Gary said as he stood in front of her desk while she sat down behind her desk typing away on her computer.

Nick's Apartment
_ Nick looked
around his apartment placing his hands on his waist. He couldn’t remember the
last time he ever had his apartment so spotless clean. This would be Sabrina’s
first time at his apartment. Nick was so excited for the things he had planned
for her. It was going to be a weekend of fun with just the two of them.
His 4 year old daughter, Josslyn, was going to be with her mother Joanna. Nick even cleaned up Josslyn’s bedroom. Nick usually has his daughter every other weekend because of his work shift. This was the weekend that he was supposed to work, but when Sabrina said she was able to visit him on this weekend, things couldn’t have worked out any better for him since some things were changing at his job.
A few hours later, after Nick spoke to Sabrina on the phone, he hopped into the shower. As soon as he stepped out he heard someone knocking on his door. Nick looked at the time. He knew it couldn’t be Sabrina already, she still had another hour or so before getting there. Nick wrapped a towel around his waist and rushed toward his door. He looked thru the peephole and saw his mother. Nick frowned wondering why she was there and not at her job. Nick opened the door, “Mom, what are you doing here?”
Sandra stood on the other side of the door with her arms folded. “I need to speak to you. Are you going to let me in?”
Nick quietly sighed and looked down at his wet half naked body. “Now? I just got out of the shower, I have to get dressed, and—“
“Oh please, honey, I have seen you naked before.” Sandra said as she lightly pushed her way in. “I gave birth to you remember? In labor for 2 days, 10hrs and 23 min giving birth to you.” Sandra finished as she stepped in the middle of Nick’s apartment looking around with her hands on her hips.
Nick shook his head as he closed his door shut.
“You cleaned? It looks like a brand new apartment. What brought this on?” Sandra asked now folding her arms looking at her son.
Nick held on tightly to the towel around his waist. “Just doing a little Fall/Winter cleaning while I had the time. Give me a second to put some clothes on please, mother.” Nick said sarcastically as he walked in the back to his bedroom.
Sandra remained quiet as she took a seat at his dining room table.
Nick quickly threw on his boxers, jeans, and a plain white t-shirt. He slowly walked back into the dining room. He walked over to her, giving her a small hug and kiss on the crown of her head. He then took a seat at the dining room table across from her.
“So what’s up? Why do you look like you're mad?”
“Why didn’t you tell me you got promoted at your job?” She asked with a slight frown.
“I just found out.”
“Your father knows.”
“Dad help me get the job in the first place, mom. Of course he’s going to know.” Nick responded slightly annoyed.
“Why are you ignoring Joanna?”
“So, that’s why you’re here. To talk about Joanna?”
“Are you going to answer my question.” Sandra said staring intently at her son, Nick.
“What is she telling you now?” Nick asked looking down at his hands.
“You missed her last doctor appointment a few weeks ago. She needed you, Nicholas. You never return her calls…you are just acting very distant with her.”
“You do realize we are not together, right?”
“Well, you need to be. That’s the problem, Nicholas. She’s carrying your child, you need to show her some respect.”
Nick sighed as he buried his face into his hands out of frustration. Sandra noticed and added, “And don’t say that is not your child, because everyone knows that it is.”
“Show her some respect? How am I disrespecting her?” Nick said slightly angry.
“She is the mother of your children. The more and more you get older, I swear you act like your no good father.” Sandra stated angrily thinking about her ex-husband Keanu.
“Mom, why do you let Joanna fill your head up with nonsense? Look…I don’t have time for this. If you came over here to make my day miserable by talking about Joanna, then I suggest you leave. No disrespect, mom…but I don’t have time for this.”
Sandra looked at her son in disbelief. “Fine. Just promise me this…” Sandra started as she grabbed her car keys.
“What?” Nick said clenching his jaw muscles as he looked at his mother.
“You need to treat the mother of your kids, with more respect. Stop being so mean to her.” Sandra said standing up.
“Treat the mother of my child with more respect... Got it.” Nick said sarcastically as he stood up to escort his mother out while emphasizing on the word ‘child’.
Sandra glared at her son. “Are you still taking those pain pills? They seem to be changing your attitude.”
“Geez, mom…seriously? Did Jo put you up to this or what?” Nick said annoyed.
Sandra opened his door and turned around grabbing his handsome face and kissed him on his cheek. “Im going back to work. Just do what I tell you to do. I love you.”
“Yeah…love you too.” Nick said reluctantly.
Sandra turned around, “By the way, who’s coming over here for you to clean up so well?” “Company.” Nick said quickly.
“Like who?”
“Im not going to tell you, so you can go back and tell Jo.”
“Why would I tell her? It must be a girl.”
“You tell Jo everything since you two are now the best of friends.”
“Oh Nicholas, your so full of it. By honey, I love you.”
“See ya.” Nick said and quickly closed his door shut.
He mumbled a curse as he continued to get dressed before Sabrina arrive thinking about his mother and Joanna. Nick truly felt like his mother and Joanna were in cahoots with each other and that really got on Nick’s nerves. Anything Joanna said, his mother believed it. Anything he shared with his mother, Joanna was sure to find out. Joanna was just about 6 months pregnant now. Her belly was clearly showing. She looked as if she had a small basketball under her shirt. Nick didn’t understand what his mother was talking about. 'How was he was disrespecting Joanna?' he wondered. He did what he could, when he could for Joanna, even though he knew in his heart that she wasn’t carrying his child.

Chapter 2
_ Sabrina pulled into a parking space at Nick’s apartment
complex. Nick couldn’t contain his smile as he walked toward the parking lot
watching Sabrina park her car. Sabrina got out of the car with a smile on
her face when she saw Nick. Even though it had only been three weeks, she felt
like he had gotten even more handsome since the last time she saw him. His
tall, manly, muscular physique can easily be wanted by any woman. But
clearly he wanted her and no one else. That made Sabrina even happier. He wore
loosely fitted blue jeans and a long sleeves thin white shirt with gray graphic designs printed on the front. His sleeves were rolled up his forearms where his silver rolex watch wrapped around his left wrist was visible. The sun gleamed down on him
giving the diamond studded earring in his left ear a twinkle. That was something surprising to Sabrina because she never knew he wore earrings. With the slight gash in his brow from when he was in a
brutal fight more than a month ago, Sabrina felt Nick looked like a total bad
boy hottie. And she loved it. She quickly rushed to him almost jumping on him
as she wrapped her arms around his neck giving him a huge hug.
Nick wrapped his arms around her torso as he smiled. “Finally!” Nick said as he embraced her while picking her up from the ground. Sabrina let out a small shriek when he lifted her. Just the scent of her in his arms made Nick feel warm and fuzzy inside. He couldn’t believe after a long three weeks they were back into each other’s arms. Nick put her down on the ground and they both quickly attached their lips onto each other giving a long soft sensual kiss. They simultaneously pulled away and embraced each other again.
“I’ve missed you so much.” Sabrina said with a smile.
“Same here Bri-bear.”
They pulled away and Nick swept his eyes up and down her body. “You look absolutely beautiful.” “You don’t look so bad yourself, good looking.”
Nick chuckled as he opened her car door to get her luggage.
“When did you get your ears pierced?”
“Oh, I’ve always had them pierced. I just stopped wearing them for a while and decided to wear them again.” Nick paused when he saw all her bags. “Babe, are you staying longer than Monday?” “No. Why?”
“What’s up with all these bags?!” Nick laughed as he pulled them out of her car.
Sabrina giggled as she watched him. “What? I didn’t know what to pack. I needed a bag for my shoes, and another bag for hair and makeup stuff…” her voice trailed off.
“Geez, babe.” Nick said as he began toting her bags.
Sabrina only laughed as she attempted to help him with one of her bags.
As Sabrina followed Nick up to his apartment she looked around and said, “I like the area you live in. It’s very suburban of you.”
Nick chuckled saying, “Thank you…I think.”
Once inside his apartment, Nick gave her a little tour.
“…And this is Josslyn’s room.” Nick said as he opened her door.
Sabrina saw an array of pink bursting from the room. Sabrina thought it was the cutest and coziest little girl room she had ever seen. Her toys were neatly put away, and her pink Disney designed bed spread was the cutest. Sabrina smiled and looked up at Nick.
“Let me guess…her favorite color is pink?”
Nick gasped. “How did you know?” he teased her.
Sabrina giggled and playfully pushed him as he pulled her into him.
He then showed her his bedroom. “And this…is where the magic happens.” Nick said with a grin as he gestured toward his king sized bed.
Sabrina rolled her eyes up at him and smacked her teeth. “What magic?”
Nick chuckled. “The magic that you and I will be making all weekend long.”
“Shut-up!” Sabrina teased him as he stood behind her embracing her.
He kissed her cheek and asked, “Are you hungry?”
“Not really. Just thirsty.” Sabrina said following Nick back into his living room as she wrapped her arms around his torso.
It was obvious they couldn’t keep their hands off of each other. They would give each other loving stares and smiles as if reading each other’s mind whenever silence fell between them. Nick poured her a glass of iced Sprite to drink. As she gazed up at him leaning against his kitchen counter she said, “I love your apartment. It’s just right for you.”
“Thank you baby.” He said as he turned to hand her glass of drink to her.
He then stood in front of her and leaned back against the kitchen counter staring at her. His eyes lowered to her belly. “How’s my baby?”
Sabrina swallowed her drink and smiled placing her hand over her stomach. “Fine.”
Nick grinned. “Good. So how was the drive? The scenic route you wanted to see so badly.”
“It was awesome. It was a very long drive.”
Nick chuckled as he reached forward digging his finger into her jeans just enough to pull her towards him. He placed his hands around her hips as Sabrina looked up at him while drinking her soda.
“So, I want to show you something.” Nick stated calmly.
“Show me what?” Sabrina asked taking another sip of her soda.
“It’s a surprise.” Nick looked at his watch and then asked her, “Ready to go?”
“Now? I was hoping to just kind of take a breather and relax after that long drive.”
Nick pouted his lips. “You can close your eyes in the car. How does that sound?”
Sabrina agreed and started to walk out of the kitchen as Nick lingered his hold on to her. “Do I need to change clothes?”
“Nope. So let’s go.” Nick said slapping her butt.
“Ouch!” Sabrina stated sarcastically as she walked away from him covering her butt with her hands.
Several minutes later, Nick was standing at his front door still waiting for Sabrina so they could leave. “Brin, what are you doing?”
Sabrina finally rushed out of his bedroom after she changed into her black stiletto boots. “Do I look okay?”
“You looked beautiful before and you look beautiful now. Let’s go.” Nick said as he opened the door.
Sabrina walked thru the door.
“I don’t know why you changed shoes anyway.” Nick grinned as he locked his door.
“Because I don’t know where you’re taking me and I want to make sure I look okay.”
Nick grabbed her hand as they walked toward his car in the parking lot.
“We have to be somewhere tonight by at least 8:30. How long do you need to get dressed?” Nick asked.
“Where are we going?”
“Somewhere to eat.” Nick said coyly.
Sabrina looked up at him suspiciously with a smile. “What are you up to Nicholas Lancaster?” Nick smiled back at her. “Nothing. I just have reservations for us to be somewhere to eat.” Nick walked around his car and opened the passenger door for Sabrina to get in.
“Aww, aren’t you such a gentleman. Thank you.”
“Aren’t I always a gentleman?” Nick grinned holding her door open.
Sabrina smiled and gave him a quick kiss on the lips before getting in the car.

“Aren’t I always a gentleman?” Nick grinned holding her door open.
Sabrina smiled and gave him a quick kiss on the lips before getting in the car.
_ Half an hour later, Nick pulled up to a house.
“Who lives here?” Sabrina asked as she looked around.
“Don’t move.” Nick said as he turned the car engine off and hopped out of the car.
He walked around the car and opened her car door. Sabrina smiled and got out of the car.
“Geez, you’re being so sweet. I can get used to this.” Sabrina teased Nick.
Once she was out, Nick shut the door and looked around the neighborhood.
“What do you think about this neighborhood?” Nick asked.
“It’s quiet.”
“Do you like it?”
“Yeah…it seems pretty cool. Clean and peaceful.” Sabrina responded looking around.
“What about the house?” Nick asked as he slowly started to walk up the little pathway toward the front door.
“It’s beautiful. Whose is it?” Sabrina asked.
Nick shrugged his shoulders as they both walked up to the door. Nick started peeking thru the windows. Sabrina quickly pulled on his arm.
“Nick, stop! Don’t look thru someone’s house.” She whispered in a panic.
Nick laughed. “It’s okay, nobody’s home. Take a look inside.”
“No! Nick…stop!” Sabrina said as she folded her arms feeling the coolness in the air. She calmly started to walk back to Nick’s car.
“Where are you going?” Nick grinned.
“You can’t go looking into people’s houses!”
Nick smiled at Sabrina’s nervousness and quickly grabbed her arm. “Wait, come look in the back yard. Check out the pool.”
Sabrina resisted, “No! Nick, people are watching…”
Before Sabrina knew it, Nick easily swooped her up bridal style and carried her around to the back yard. “Oh my god, you’re crazy. Is it that serious?”
“I just wanted you to see it.” Nick laughed.
Sabrina saw the spacious back yard which included an in ground pool. She had to admit, she was impressed, but she didn’t want Nick to know. “Okay, it looks beautiful, now let’s go.”
“Do you really like it?” Nick asked her.
“Yes! Put me down.”
Nick laughed and put her down. She immediately started walking away and pulled his arm so he would follow.
Nick pulled out of the driveway and drove down the road once he was finally done looking at the house. “You know that house has 4 bedrooms.” Nick said looking over at Sabrina as he drove. “Nick, I saw furniture inside the house. You know who stays there, don’t you?” Sabrina asked looking over at him suspiciously.
“Maybe.” Nick teased as he grinned looking at the road.
“Come on, tell me…are you up to something?”
“Alright…so a friend of mine was telling me about that house…and said it was for sale. So …” Nick paused as he glanced over at Sabrina.
“You’re buying that house?” Sabrina asked in shock.
“I thought about it. Why? What do you think?”
“I mean, it’s a nice house. Really nice house.” Sabrina said in deep thoughts.
“But what?” Nick asked sensing there was something she didn’t like.
“Nothing. Im just saying, it’s a really nice house. A lot of room for just you and Josslyn, right?”
“Yep.” Nick said glancing back over at her.
Sabrina didn’t say anything else. She only looked out the window.
“Who lives here?” Sabrina asked as she looked around.

“Yep.” Nick said glancing back over at her.
Sabrina didn’t say anything else. She only looked out the window.
_ Minutes later, Nick drove to a lot where there was a large
building. Sabrina didn’t notice a sign on the building, only the address.
“What’s this?”
“Just a little something I wanted to show you while you’re here in town.” Nick smiled at her.
Sabrina couldn’t help but smile as they walked into the building hand in hand. There wasn’t a person that Nick walked by that he didn’t speak to. One burly looking man came down the hall and gave Nick a fist bump. “What’s up dude! What are you doing here today?”
“Just wanted to show my girl what I do on the side.” Nick responded.
“This is you?” the man said looking at Sabrina with a smile.
“Yeah, this is Sabrina Cain. Sabrina this is my buddy, Dollar.” Nick introduced them.
The burly man named Dollar extended his tattooed sleeve hand to greet Sabrina. Sabrina welcomed the hand shake with a smile.
“Hi, nice to meet you, Dollar?” Sabrina stated not sure she was saying his name right.
“Yea, that’s right, Dollar. They call me Dollar ‘cause that’s what Im all about.” Dollar said as he laughed.
“And he is not joking. Hey, Dollar, is the studio still open?” Nick asked.
“Yeah, no doubt. Go on back. Nice to meet you Sabrina.”
“Nice to meet you too.” Sabrina smiled at Dollar.
Dollar walked off patting Nick on the shoulder.
“So…how did you guys meet?” Sabrina asked as Nick held her hand once again while they walked further into the building.
“We played college ball together.” Nick said calmly.
“No way. He’s huge.” Sabrina said looking back for Dollar.
Nick chuckled, “Yeah, well he saved my ass plenty of times out on the field.”
As they walked, Sabrina looked into different rooms and realized she was in a music studio. “Nick what are we doing here?” Sabrina whispered to him as she grabbed on to his arm.
“I just want you to see my studio.”
“Your studio?”
Nick stopped at a door and opened it allowing Sabrina to walk in first. “Oh wow.” Sabrina said when she walked inside. The room was filled with all kinds of equipment that she has only seen on television. Sound boards, microphones, speakers and tons and tons of knobs and buttons. Keyboards and a guitar were in the corner. There was a sound recording booth as well.
“Welcome to my studio. This is a place that Joss loves to come to. She actually gets sad if I can’t bring her by here when I have her on my weekends.” Nick said as he watched Sabrina look at the studio in awe.
“So, like…what do you do here?”
“Play around a little here and there…” Nick started.
He was interrupted when another guy walked in holding a red plastic cup in hand.
“Nick, what’s up man! What are you doing here? Is today Saturday?”
Nick smiled and gave the man a dap hand shake and a quick shoulder to shoulder hug. “What’s up Brandon. Hey, I want you to meet my girl, Sabrina.” Nick said turning to Sabrina introducing her. Sabrina smiled and extended her hand out to the man in greeting.
“Just a little something I wanted to show you while you’re here in town.” Nick smiled at her.

Brandon
_ “Oh, hey, what’s up. Im Brandon.”
“Nice to meet you.” Sabrina responded with a smile.
Sabrina thought Brandon had a great smile. The whiteness of his teeth really popped from his caramel brown skin.
“Yo, where is Joss?” Brandon asked as if he were looking around for Nick’s daughter, Josslyn.
“She’s with her mom this weekend.” Nick responded.
“Oh that’s right, that’s right.” He said taking a seat in one of the rolling chairs. “Yo, Nick, Im glad you’re here. I want you to check out this beat.” Brandon said as he started pushing a few buttons on a sound board.
“Alright, let’s hear it.” Nick said as he pulled up a chair.
Nick sat down in the chair and grabbed Sabrina’s hand pulling her close to him so she could sit in his lap. Sabrina did just so.
“I didn’t know you were into music like this.” Sabrina said quietly to Nick as she sat on his lap.
“Uh oh. So Nick has been hiding his talent from you, huh?” Brandon said apparently hearing what she had said to Nick.
Sabrina wrapped her arm around Nick’s shoulder and looked at him suspiciously. “You have musical talent?”
“Does he?!” Brandon said with a smile.
Nick looked at Brandon. “Dude, can I speak?” he teased him.
Brandon laughed.
Nick looked up at Sabrina pushing a few of her hair strands away from her face. “I’ve always been into music. It was just a hobby of mine.”
“Nick be jamming on the guitar, the keyboards…he sings too." Brandon said volunteering information.
Sabrina was shocked as she gazed at Nick. She wondered why she never knew any of this before. “You sing? Why haven’t you ever sung for me?”
Nick shrugged his shoulders not sure how to respond.
Nick turned his attention to Brandon. “So let’s hear that beat.”
Sabrina continued to stare at Nick. Something about him was different. He was like someone totally different. He wasn’t the young Nicholas Lancaster she knew growing up. She just realized that this was the first time she had ever really hung around him without it being about high school, or the court case or something about her family. She was in Nick’s habitat. A smile slowly crept on her face as Nick’s head started to bop to the beat Brandon played.
Nick didn’t have to be looking at her...he didn’t have to speak to her or even touch her, but at that moment, right then and there, Nick’s persona was really turning her on. She found herself gliding her fingers thru the back of his hair or lightly guiding her hand down his jaw line.
Nick looked up at her and grinned. He could tell she was in deep thoughts. He was about to kiss her when Brandon started talking, interrupting the trance they were in with each other.
“So, yo, yo, yo…whatcha think man?”
“That’s tight, B…” Nick’s voice trailed off as he gave his musical critique.
Sabrina placed her hand over his as it rested on her thigh. She laced her fingers between his fingers while resting her other hand behind his neck.
The young couple ended up staying longer than expected at the studio with Nick introducing a lot of his friends at the studio to Sabrina. Nick even did a quick jam session with one of the artists who had dropped by as well. Sabrina was so impressed with Nick and this hidden talent with music she had no idea about. She was having fun, but she was also getting tired. The long drive down was slowly starting to get to her.
When they left the studio walking hand in hand back toward Nick’s car, Sabrina was speechless. When Nick opened her car door, she looked up at him saying, “Thanks for sharing this with me. I love you.”
Nick smiled. “I love you too.”
She gave him a quick kissed on the lips.
Nick started the car and headed back toward his apartment. He realized time was running out and they were running late for their reservation.
“So, do you love me enough to move here?” Nick asked as he grabbed her hand bringing it up to his lips and kissing it.
Sabrina looked over at him. “Nick, you know I would if I could.”
“But you can.”
Sabrina rested her head against her head rest as she looked at Nick. “What about you moving up to Atlanta? We can get a bigger place for Cody and the baby, and even Joss when she comes to visit you.”
“What’s holding you in Atlanta?” Nick asked seriously.
Sabrina paused and thought for a moment. “Having to look for a new school for Cody to go to. He’s so established there at his school now. I don’t want to just up root him like that. And my job too. I have to work, Nick. I do well at my job…and I like my job –“
“So…basically…you’re scared of change.”
“So are you! You won’t move to Atlanta.”
“If you move here…you won’t have to work.” Nick said in a deep husky, serious tone ignoring her last statement.
It sent chills up and down Sabrina’s body to hear him speak so seriously.
“Well…Im pregnant too, you know. I have to find a new doctor…it’s just a lot. I don’t want to leave my aunt Kelly.”
Nick smiled and shook his head.
Sabrina noticed and started to address him, but before she could, he quickly changed the subject. “Alright, we have to make a move for it. We’re going to be late for this dinner.”
“Nice to meet you.” Sabrina responded with a smile.
Sabrina thought Brandon had a great smile. The whiteness of his teeth really popped from his caramel brown skin.

Nick's Apartment
_ Nick quickly escorted Sabrina back into his apartment. As
Sabrina walked into Nick’s bedroom she picked up her suitcase and began to
unzip it. “Where are we going? I need to know what to wear.”
“Oh…yeah…that.” Nick said as he quickly walked up behind Sabrina and zipped her suitcase closed.
“Nick, I have to get something out to wear.”
“Don’t worry about it. I got something for you.” Nick said and kissed her neck. He walked away toward his closet.
Sabrina turned around looking at him with a confused expression. “What do you mean?”
Nick walked out of his closet with a long gold dress in his hand. “Wear this. I hope you like it.”
Sabrina’s eyes went wide. The gold dress was draped in a garment bag. As Sabrina took it out of the garment bag she couldn’t believe Nick picked this out for her to wear. The dress had a plunging v-neck line, and the dress was long to the floor with a high split up her thigh. It was a beautiful dress. She looked back at Nick in complete and utter shock.
“You picked this for me to wear?”
“Yep. So hurry and get dressed.”
Sabrina looked back at the dress. She just couldn’t believe it.
Sabrina was in the bathroom still trying to get dressed by putting the finishing touches to her makeup and hair.
Nick knocked on the door. “Baby, c’mon…we are running late. We gotta go.”
Sabrina fluffed her hair as she looked at her reflection in the mirror. The dress fit perfectly. However a little more snug than to her liking. Sabrina wondered if being pregnant was already adding inches to her slim figure. Her cleavage were slightly popping out more than she would have liked, but the dress was perfect. After one last look in the mirror, Sabrina walked out of the bathroom to see Nick standing there ever so handsome in a classy black tie tuxedo.
Nick’s eyes went wide in awe when he saw Sabrina. He thought she looked so sexy. Almost too sexy. “Awww, Nick you look so handsome.”
“And you look…fucking amazing.”
Sabrina giggled. “Thank you…but I think the baby has already given me a few inches. The dress is a little too tight.”
“No, you look beautiful.” Nick said as he slowly stepped up to her placing his hands on her waist pulling her into him.
“How did you know my dress size?” she asked curiously.
“A little birdie told me.” Nick said referring to her best friend Raven.
Sabrina smiled at him giving him a suspicious look. He leaned in for a kiss but Sabrina pulled back. “No, you’ll mess up my makeup.”
“Really?”
Sabrina laughed and playfully hit Nick in the chest. “Yes, really.”
“Mmmmm.” Nick said licking his lips at her.
Sabrina pushed him away and walked toward the bedroom door. “Let’s go.”
Nick smiled and slapped her butt as she walked away from him.
“Nick!”
-----------------
“Oh…yeah…that.” Nick said as he quickly walked up behind Sabrina and zipped her suitcase closed.
-----------------
_On the car ride to their destination, Nick filled Sabrina in on
his surprise. He had gotten a promotion at his job and he was invited to a
black tie dinner banquet celebration for all the new changes dealing with the
company he worked for.
Sabrina was so happy for him. “So what does all of this means? Are you still working night shifts?” “Yes. But I basically have my own office and can pretty much tell people what to do. Like what you do at your job.” Nick grinned as he glanced over at her while he drove.
Sabrina giggled. “Whatever.”
Nick’s compensation was already really good because of the shift he worked. Now that he was VP Director, the pay was going to be unbelievably high. Which is why Nick emphasized that Sabrina would never have to work again.
“All the more reason for you and Cody to move here, right?” Nick added.
“Nick…” Sabrina said not really wanting to talk about it.
“I know, I know…you can’t just up and move. But I’ve done my homework, Bri-bear. The schools here are awesome –“
“Nick…c’mon…not now, okay? Let’s just enjoy the night. Your night.” Sabrina smiled at Nick.
Nick grabbed her hand and brought it up to his lips and kissed it. He corrected her saying, “Our night.”

_
They arrived at the venue of the banquet. It was very fancy,
Sabrina thought. People were leaving their cars for valet as women were dressed in
their best evening gowns and men dressed in their best tuxedos. Sabrina held
on tightly to Nick’s arm as they walked in.
All she could do was smile as Nick appeared to be the same old popular Nick he was always known to be since high school. There wasn’t a person who walked by them Nick didn’t speak to or vice versa. Once the person would walk away, Nick would explain to Sabrina who the person was and what they were best known for. For example, a big muscle head man who Sabrina thought looked like the leader of a Harley Davidson motorcycle gang in a tuxedo, gave Nick a big manly hug. He wore black shades over his eyes as his inked tattoos were peeping out from the collar of his tuxedo.
“Congrats my dude. I knew you could do it.” The big burly man said congratulating Nick on his promotion.
Nick smiled saying thanks. “Hey, Spike, I want you to meet my girl, Sabrina.” Nick said introducing Sabrina to the burly man named Spike.
Sabrina smiled and extended her small petite hand to the giant man.
“Sabrina? Nice to meet you pretty lady. Im Spike.”
Sabrina smiled while thinking that this man could probably fit her in his back pocket if he wanted to as she felt his large hand around her tiny hand. “Likewise!”
“How did a pretty girl like yourself get tied up with this charming fellow?” Spike joked.
“You just said it, because Im charming.” Nick joked back with the man.
Spike pointed his thick index finger at Nick and laughed a hearty laugh. “Listen I got to take a leak, pleasure to meet you, Sabrina.” Spike said at first speaking to Nick and then turning his attention to Sabrina.
“Nice to meet you too, Spike.”
As the man named Spike walked away, Nick mentioned to Sabrina, “They call him Spike because he usually wears this spike collar around his neck. But not tonight apparently.” Nick chuckled
“He works with you?”
“Yep. We used to play ball in college together too. He's Dollar's brother. He always had my back.”
“Except for that last time when you tore your ACL.” Sabrina teased Nick.
Nick smiled at her and winked. “Cute…very cute.”
Sabrina giggled.
The more the young couple worked the room, the more Sabrina found herself smitten with Nick’s personality. It was a fact, everyone loved him. Sabrina even felt some of the women’s eyes burning into her whenever Nick wrapped his arm around her. Sabrina was all too familiar with the evil glares women darted at her. They were the same looks she got back in high school.
Sabrina noticed one particular female who couldn’t stop glaring at her. She had long red hair and wore a cute pink dress. As Sabrina and Nick sat at one of the tables, talking and listening to smooth jazz instrumental music, Sabrina leaned into Nick wrapping her arm on the back of Nick’s chair. While Nick was talking to another person sitting near him at another table, Sabrina placed her other hand on Nick’s upper thigh and lightly squeezed it.
Nick immediately gave her his attention. Their faces were inches away from each other. “Hey…what’s wrong?” Nick asked softly.
“Don’t look now…but who is the chick with the long red hair and a pink dress?”
Nick cautiously looked around the room with his eyes searching only for the girl with red hair and a pink dress. “Where?”
“At 5 o’clock.” Sabrina said giving him the direction to look by referencing a second hand clock.
Nick smoothly looked in the direction that Sabrina was referring to and he spotted the girl with the red hair and looked away. “Oh that’s Ariana. Why?”
“She has been staring at me ever since we got here.”
Nick smirked as he lustfully looked into Sabrina’s eyes. “Maybe she has a crush on you because you’re so beautiful.”
Sabrina rolled her eyes as she smiled at him.
Nick smoothly sneaked a double kiss on Sabrina’s lips. She couldn’t help but smile at his sneaky affection.
Their little moment was interrupted when they heard a woman clear her throat. Nick and Sabrina quickly averted their eyes to the woman standing up beside Nick. “Am I interrupting something?” the woman spoke with a light smile.
“Oh, hey!” Nick said as he stood up and adjusted his bow tie.
As Nick gave the woman a hug, Sabrina smiled nicely at the woman.
Nick then turned to Sabrina and introduced them. “Brin, this is my new boss, Lisa. Lisa, this is my girlfriend, Sabrina.”
Sabrina stood up and greeted the blonde haired woman named Lisa.
“Oh, so nice to meet you. Well aren’t you such a pretty little thing. I see why he’s kissing all over you.” Lisa said with a broad smile.
Sabrina smiled trying to hide her slight embarrassment, “Aww, thank you.”
“Where’s your father, I thought he would be here to congratulate you.” Lisa asked Nick with concern.
“I guess sometimes you just can’t tear him away from D.C.” Nick replied with a grin.
“Oh that man is truly crazy…” she looked at Sabrina and continued, “I’ve been trying to get his father to move here for the longest but he just wont do it for some odd reason.”
“Sort of like how Im trying to get her to move here. So I understand.” Nick quickly added talking about Sabrina.
Sabrina playfully hit Nick’s arm.
Lisa kept her attention on Sabrina. “So you don’t live here? Where are you from?” Lisa asked. “Atlanta.”
“Oh really? What do you do there?” Lisa asked intrigued.
“Im the creative arts director at an advertising company.”
“Ahh…so you work in advertising? That’s wonderful! So does my daughter, Heather. Nick, you remember what I was telling you about Heather, how she just got that new promotion at her job as well.”
“Oh that’s right. Is she here?” Nick asked trying to be friendly.
Lisa began looking around. “I don’t…see …her…oh! There she is!” Lisa began waving her hands up frantically.

Top: Lisa Kudrow / Bottom: Heather
_ Within the next few seconds, another blonde woman approached
them. She greeted Lisa with a hug and kiss saying, “Hey mom!”
“Hi sweetie, I want you to meet my new VP. Nick Lancaster.” Lisa said pushing her daughter forward to greet Nick.
Heather smiled and looked like she had just saw the finest man in her life. “Hi there. Im Heather.” She said flirtatiously.
Nick smiled and shook her hand. “Hey, how are you doing?”
“Fine now that I’ve met you.” She giggled flirtatiously.
“Uhh…this is my girlfriend, Sabrina.” Nick introduced Sabrina to the woman when he noticed how she was kind of flirting with him. Heather looked over at Sabrina. “Oh…Hi. Im Heather.” Heather said introducing herself.
Sabrina gave her a faint smile as she welcomed the handshake.
“Heather, that’s Nick’s girlfriend. She’s from Atlanta. She works at an advertising company as the creative arts director. Honey you should tell her about that new position you have available.” Lisa said as she sipped from her class of wine.
“You have a position open at the advertising company you work for?” Nick asked Heather as his eyes lit up.
“We do!” Heather said with a smile.
Nick quickly turned to Sabrina. “Brin, that’s awesome.”
“Why are you interested?” Heather asked now looking at Sabrina.
Sabrina slightly frowned at Nick. “That’s…great. But Im not looking for job.”
“Why not?” Nick asked in a hush tone directing it to Sabrina.
Before Sabrina had a chance to respond, Nick looked back at Heather and asked, “What kind of position is it?”
“Well...what advertising company do you work for in Atlanta?” Heather asked Sabrina.
Sabrina told her the name feeling uneasy.
“Oh…then you’re familiar with Links Advertising in Orlando?”
“Yes. Very much so.” Sabrina responded.
“That’s where I work. We are looking for an arts director there. You would be perfect!” Heather exclaimed.
“She would be perfect! You need to tell Richard Gere. Richard is the CEO of Links Advertising. He would love to have someone from your company, Sabrina, to come on board.” Lisa added with a smile.
“Oh, no…I don’t think so.” Sabrina laughed lightly at what she thought was an insane idea.
“Why?” Heather asked.
“Yeah…why? This is what we’ve been talking about.” Nick said as he squeezed her hand down at their sides.
Sabrina gave Nick a look as if to say she didn’t want to talk about it.
“If you’re worried about the drive from Gainesville to Orlando, it’s not even an hour. The company is right on the outskirts of Orlando, so it wouldn’t be a problem.” Lisa said taking another sip from her glass of wine.
“Yeah…and Mr. Gere, he would definitely give you the company car with no problems.” Heather added.
“That all sounds great, but…” Sabrina tried to protest.
“The money is good too!” Heather added with a smile.
“That sounds great!” Nick commented.
“Well…Im sure it is..but…I have a nine year old son to think about too…so…” Sabrina said with a fake smile and then widening her eyes at Nick wanting him to stop egging the women on.
“That’s great. There’s a program assistance for working parents. Your son would be fine. That’s one of the perks of working for Links. Everyone loves the working parents program assistance.”
“Baby…you can’t pass this up.” Nick said in a hushed tone to Sabrina.
“Well…it’s not like they’re offering me the job on the spot.” Sabrina said sarcastically to Nick as she laughed in a joking manner to Heather and Lisa.
“Actually…yea I am. If you can work with Mr. Sean Connery in Atlanta…you must be good.” Heather stated with a smile.
“When can she start?” Nick quickly responded with a chuckle.
Lisa and Heather laughed along with Nick. Sabrina smiled and gave a small fake laugh just to join in with the group.
“Well, we can talk more about it, Sabrina, if you like. Of course we would have to do the normal job interview process, but Im telling you now…the job is yours.” Heather dug into her clutch purse searching for her business card. “Here. Give me a call. But…you have two weeks to think about it. Because after two weeks, we have to officially post for the position publicly."
Sabrina reluctantly took her business card. “Okay…I will let you know. Thank you.” Sabrina faintly smiled.
“This is great. You two have a lot to celebrate tonight! Nick’s promotion and a new start for you at Links Advertising. This is wonderful!” Lisa added her speech slightly slurred.
At that moment, a man walked up to the microphone at the front of the room standing at a podium. “May I have everyone’s attention? We would like to get things started. Your meals will be coming out to you while we start the program. Everyone please take your seats. And Lisa Kudrow, you are needed at the front lobby. Lisa Kudrow, you are needed in the front lobby. Thank you.”
“Oh, excuse me…I think they are calling for me. I will see you all in a bit. Heather, come with me…I think I may need your assistance.” Lisa said excusing herself.
Heather agreed and excused herself with a smile.
Nick and Sabrina took their seats back at their table. Nick pulled out Sabrina’s chair as she sat down. Nick took his seat beside her. “I think my boss is a little intoxicated.” He chuckled. He then added as he settled in his chair, “Well, we can mark that off the list as to why you can’t move down here from Atlanta. Cody will be taken care of…and you already have a job. So…why can’t you move here again?” Nick smiled with victory.
“No, Nick…I can’t believe you did that.” Sabrina said a little upset.
“Did what? I didn’t do anything.” Nick smirked at her.
“This is not funny, Nick.” Sabrina slightly frowned as she hit his arm.
Nick couldn’t help but laugh at her.
Their food came out as the banquet started. Sabrina thought it was rather boring, and tried to keep awake. She was still tired from the long drive. Moments later, Nick was called up to the front receiving recognition for a job well done in his old position at his job and then he received a small award for taking on a huge responsibility as the new VP. Sabrina smiled and clapped feeling proud for Nick.
As she clapped, she looked around the room feeling someone staring intently at her. Sabrina met eyes with the girl with the red hair named Ariana. What was her problem? Sabrina thought as she continued to clap for Nick.
Nick walked back to his seat and gave Sabrina a small kiss on the lips.
“Im so happy for you. And proud too.”
“Thank you, baby.” Nick said giving her knee a light squeeze as he kissed her once again.
As the night carried on, Sabrina was really starting to feel sick. She was starting feel light headed and a little nauseous. While Nick was speaking to a couple of other people, Sabrina slowly stood up. Nick turned his attention to Sabrina as he looked up at her. He noticed her expression. She didn’t look like she felt too good. “Are you okay?” Nick asked with concern.
“Uhm…I’m just going to go to the restroom. Where is it?”
“I’ll come with you.” Nick said as he started to get up from his seat.
“No, no. It’s okay. Just tell me where it is.” Sabrina said feeling sick to her stomach.
Nick told her and Sabrina immediately rushed off feeling like she was about to vomit.
Sabrina rushed into the restroom and burst into one of the stalls and threw up the dinner she just ate. Sabrina was kneeling down in front of the toilet as she flushed it. She took a deep breath holding her belly. Sabrina groaned still feeling like she was going to throw up once again. “Uggh…this baby is killing me.” Sabrina said to herself. The next few seconds, Sabrina threw up again.
There was a knock on Sabrina’s stall door. “Are you alright in there?” said a female’s voice.
Sabrina didn’t respond as she tried to allow the room to stop spinning.
The woman knocked again. “Hello? Are you okay?”
Sabrina flushed the toilet once again. She slowly stood up on her feet holding her hands against the wall of the stall she was in. She closed her eyes hoping that when she opened her eyes, the room wasn’t spinning. Sabrina counted to five in her head and opened her eyes. The room was no longer spinning. “Thank God.” Sabrina whispered to herself. She turned around to open the door. There stood a beautiful brown skinned slender woman. She smiled yet still showing concern on face.
“Hi sweetie, I want you to meet my new VP. Nick Lancaster.” Lisa said pushing her daughter forward to greet Nick.
Heather smiled and looked like she had just saw the finest man in her life. “Hi there. Im Heather.” She said flirtatiously.

Zoe
_ “Hi. Are you okay?”
Sabrina tucked her hair behind her ear. She placed a fake smile on her face still trying to allow her nauseous feeling to fade away. “Yes, Im fine. Thank you.”
The woman watched Sabrina slowly make her way over to the sink.
“Are you sure? You don’t look too good. Was it the food? Because I don’t blame you…it wasn’t the best.”
Sabrina gave her a light laugh. “No…Im pregnant.”
“Oh my gosh…congratulations.” The woman said once she quickly glanced down at Sabrina’s flat belly.
The woman handed Sabrina a few wet napkins. Sabrina quietly thanked the woman.
“So…does he know?” The woman asked noticing Sabrina wasn’t wearing a wedding band around her finger.
As Sabrina dug into her clutch purse, she pulled out a piece of winter fresh gum. She smiled at the pretty smooth skinned woman. “Yes.”
“Well…congratulations again. My name is Zoe, by the way.” The woman responded applying lipstick to her full lips.
“Thanks…Im Sabrina.”
“Nice to meet you. Do you work for this company?”
“Oh, no…Im here with Nick Lancaster.”
“Oh! I’ve heard many great things about him! He is a good guy. Congratulations to him for getting that promotion.”
Sabrina giggled as she fixed her hair in the mirror to look presentable again. She was now feeling better. The nauseousness was wearing off.
“Yeah, he is awesome.” Sabrina responded.
The woman named Zoe gasped as she widened her eyes. “Is he the father?”
Sabrina smiled and nodded yes.
“That is just fantastic! Well again…congratulations.”
“Thanks, do you work with him?”
“Oh, no…but my husband does. His name is Keith?”
“Oh…Im sorry, Im not sure if I met him or not. Nick has introduced me to so many people.” Sabrina said as she chewed on her gum.
“No problem. I totally understand. C’mon, I’ll introduce him to you. Nick and my husband will be working a lot together. Or so I heard.” Zoe laughed.
Sabrina joined in her laughter as she walked out of the restroom with her.
Once the door was closed, the red haired girl named Ariana walked out of one of the bathroom stalls. She had just heard everything Sabrina and Zoe just talked about.
She walked up toward the sink and pulled out her cell phone from her purse.
“Hello?”
“Hey it’s me, Ariana.”
“So…?”
“She’s here alright. And you won’t believe it…but she’s pregnant.”
Sabrina tucked her hair behind her ear. She placed a fake smile on her face still trying to allow her nauseous feeling to fade away. “Yes, Im fine. Thank you.”

Chapter 3
_ "So how do you feel now?” Nick asked as they drove home from
the dinner banquet.
“I told you, Im fine. It comes and then it goes.”
“Are you sure?” Nick asked with concern.
“Im sure! I told you I was willing to stay as long as you wanted to. This was your night. Im here for you and Im so proud of you, Nick.” Sabrina giggled.
Nick smiled at her and then turned his attention back to the road as he brought her hand up to his lips and kissed it.
“Can we get some ice cream?” Sabrina asked with a smile.
“Really? It’s like forty something degrees out and you want ice cream?”
“Pllleeeaseee?”
Nick smiled and drove toward an ice cream parlor.
“I told you, Im fine. It comes and then it goes.”

Nick smiled and drove toward an ice cream parlor.
Ice Cream Parlor
_ Moments later, Nick took his coat off and wrapped it around
Sabrina’s shoulders as they sat in an ice cream parlor eating ice cream. As
Sabrina ate her chunky strawberry ice cream in a cup, Sabrina looked at Nick and
smiled. Nick looked back at her and grinned as he ate his vanilla chocolate
swirl ice cream.
“What?” he asked.
“Do you remember the last time we had ice cream together?” Sabrina asked gazing at him.
Nick chuckled. “Yep. It was the night before we graduated from high school. We were sitting outside overlooking the city night lights of Atlanta.”
Sabrina smiled and was impressed by his memory.
“Very good memory.”
“It was a summery night so, sitting outside with ice cream was actually refreshing.” Nick joked. Sabrina laughed. “Oh, so is this not refreshing?”
“It is, its just refreshingly cold!” Nick laughed.
Sabrina joined him in laughter.
Nick watched Sabrina as she continued to eat her ice cream as she looked down at it.
Nick then said in a serious tone, “You know what else I remember?”
Sabrina looked up at him still smiling. “What?”
“That night was the last time I spoke to you in the next 10 years.”
Sabrina’s smile slowly faded as she gazed at him.
“That’s not going to be one of those nights. Im not losing you again.”
Sabrina felt chills go up and down her body as Nick said those words while staring deeply into her eyes. A smile slowly crept back onto Sabrina’s lips.
“You promise?”
“With all of my heart.” Nick quickly responded.
He then leaned forward across the table with Sabrina meeting him halfway as she leaned forward. They stopped and gazed into each other’s eyes. They both smiled and looked at each other’s lips as they finally zoomed in for a sensual kiss.
On the way home from the ice cream parlor, Sabrina unintentionally dozed off. When Sabrina felt the car stopped, she slowly opened her eyes and saw they were back at Nick’s apartment complex parking lot.
“Wake up sleeping beauty.” Nick said softly, turning the engine off.
Sabrina yawned. “Im sorry.”
“No, it’s okay….you’re tired. I understand.”

Nick's Apartment
_ Nick escorted Sabrina into his apartment saying, “Why don’t you,
take your shoes off, and just have a seat, while I make you a bath.” Nick said
taking his coat off from around her shoulders.
“You would do that for me?” Sabrina asked as she took her shoes off.
Nick gave her an expression as if saying ‘duh’.
Sabrina giggled. “Thank you Nicholas.”
Nick walked toward his bedroom taking off his bow tie, saying, “You’re welcome, Bri-bear.”
Sabrina followed him into his bedroom. She quickly pulled out her personal items and walked into the bathroom to brush her teeth. Nick walked into the bathroom and stared at her as he looked at her in the mirror’s reflection. Sabrina looked at him wondering why he was staring.
“What?” she asked with the toothbrush stuck in her mouth.
“Im just waiting patiently for you to leave so I can run your bath.” Nick responded leaning against the wall with his arms folded in front of him.
Sabrina giggled and quickly finished brushing her teeth. “Well, excuse me…” Sabrina teased him as she patted his chest walking out of the bathroom into his bedroom.
Nick smiled watching her butt as she walked away.
Sabrina walked toward his king size bed and sat on it. “Did I ever tell you how comfortable your bed is?” Sabrina asked as she bounced a little while rubbing the covers.
Nick came from out of his bathroom as he unbuttoned his shirt and said, “Wait til you really try it out.” He winked.
Sabrina laughed and rolled her eyes at Nick.
Nick laughed. “No, really…pull the covers back and check out the sheets.” Nick walked back into the bathroom to turn on the bath water for Sabrina.
Sabrina crawled to the top of his bed and pulled the black and white covers back. His white sheets had a thick satin texture. Sabrina had to admit, it felt so soft and smooth. “This is what you sleep on every night?” Sabrina asked impressed.
Nick walked back into the room and smiled as he saw Sabrina laying across his bed. “Actually, I just bought the whole bed spread today. I wanted you to have the best.”
Sabrina lowered her head down on the bed as she laughed. “Really, Nick? You’re so cheesy.” “Ahh..but you love my cheesiness.” Nick turned and walked back into the bathroom to check on the bath water he had running as he smiled.
Sabrina laid on top of the sheets sliding her hands up and down his bed spread feeling the smoothness as she mumbled, “Yeah…I do.”
Nick filled his tub with warm water and made a few bubbles in the water. He then reached under his sink and grabbed a basket full of yellow, white and pink daisy petals. He sprinkled the petals into the water as it filled the bath tub. He then took three full stems of the white, pink, and yellow daisy flowers and snipped the head of the flower off. He dropped each full head of the daisy flower into the tub. He then took out some candles, he had also put under the sink, and began to light them. He carefully placed each faintly scented daisy candles around the bathroom and the tub. Once he was done he looked at the romantic, yet relaxing scene he just created. ‘Brin is going to love this.’ He thought with excitement as he smiled. He walked into his bedroom to get Sabrina.
“Okay babe—“ Nick stopped when he saw Sabrina passed out on his bed, sleep. “Brin?” Nick said walking a little closer to her. She didn’t move an inch. She was clearly in the sleep zone. “Dammit.” Nick whispered with disappointment.
He stared at her for a moment and realized how beautiful she looked. She had a long day. She got up early that morning to work, drove five hours down the road, and Nick didn’t even give her a second to breathe. She did all of this while pregnant…for him.
Nick smiled at the thought. He wasn’t going to wake her. Instead he was going to let her sleep peacefully. Nick pulled the covers over her, even though she still had her evening gown on. Nick walked back into his bathroom and blew out the candles. He gathered the flowers and the petals from the tub of water and let the water drain out.
Nick had turned all the lights off in his apartment and walked back into his bedroom still wearing his shirt and pants. It was a little after midnight, and even though Nick was nowhere near sleepy or even tired, he slid into bed next to Sabrina. He snuggled up behind her as she laid on her side. He closed his eyes taking in her sweet scent. He was just happy to have her in his arms again.
--------------
It was 4:02 in the morning when Sabrina opened her eyes. It took her a minute to realize where she was as her eyes adjusted to the dark. This wasn’t her bedroom, nor her bed. It was Nick’s bedroom. She could hear Nick’s heavy monotone breathing as he slept. She looked down at herself and saw that she was still wearing her evening gown Nick had bought for her. That’s when she remembered that Nick was making her a bath and she unintentionally dozed off. She felt bad that she just took a long nap.
Sabrina maneuvered herself to turn on her other side so she could now face Nick. Even though it was dark in his room, her eyes were able to adjust very well and she could see Nick’s face as the moon light shined into his room. Sabrina could tell he was deep in his sleep because he didn’t move an inch as he continued to lay on his back with his head turned toward her. She saw that he was still wearing his shirt and pants from his tuxedo.
Sabrina smiled and guided her hand down his jaw line. She thought he looked so handsome. She allowed her fingers to lightly touch his nose and outline his full lips. She loved the way his lips looked. She loved the way he kissed her with those lips. She then took her fingers and gently glided them thru his short curls. She remembered how long they used to be when they were kids. She smiled at the thought. She then took her fingers and lightly brushed them over his eye brows as she noticed how long his lashes were. She allowed her fingers to lightly slide down to his earlobe as she grazed his diamond studded earring. Sabrina gazed at his lips as he continued to sleep. She lightly pressed her lips against his, giving him the lightest kiss so she wouldn’t disturb his sleep. She allowed her hand to slide down his neck.
Sabrina found herself halfway hovering over him while she was able to softly touch him without his knowledge. For some reason, this was turning her on. It was like she could do anything to him and she wouldn’t even have to hold his arms down because he was simply just knocked out sleep. Sabrina wondered how much she could do to him before he would actually wake up. Sabrina smiled at the thought and began challenging herself.
She softly began kissing his neck while unbuttoning his shirt all the way down since it was already half unbutton. Sabrina gently pulled his shirt apart exposing his white tank top he wore underneath. Sabrina slowly lifted his tank top exposing his hard sculpted abs. She glided her fingers over the ripples of his abs and brought her lips down to softly kiss every inch of his stomach while sliding her hands up to his chest. She then began unbuckling his belt, unbuttoned his pants and slowly unzipped his pants. Sabrina maneuvered herself over Nick as she straddled him, getting more into fondling him as she slid her hand down his pants over his boxers caressing his genitals. She moved her kisses up to his chest as she began licking and sucking on his nipples.
Sabrina could sense a small change in Nick’s breathing. She could feel him begin to harden as she caressed him down below. She looked up at his face and saw him staring back down at her.
She smiled. She moved up and softly said, “Hi.” She then began kissing and sucking on his neck. “What are you doing?” he asked in a groggy voice yet enjoying her touch.
Sabrina laughed softly into his neck and gently bit his earlobe as she continued caressing him over his boxers. She then softly stated seductively, “What does it look like Im doing.”
Nick wrapped his arms around her back and ran his fingers up and thru her hair as he enjoyed her sucking his skin between her lips.
Sabrina slowly moved her kisses to his lips as they began to kiss each other passionately. Once Sabrina sucked his bottom lip into her mouth, she quickly felt him become hard as a rock as he slightly moaned into her mouth as they kissed. Sabrina slowly began to grind her hips down on top of him.
Sabrina suddenly felt Nick over take her power and rolled on top of her as they continued to kiss. Sabrina passionately moaned into his mouth. Nick slowly pulled his lips away from her. “I take it that you’re no longer tired?” Nick grinned.
“If you’re tired…I understand. I didn’t mean to wake you.” Sabrina smiled.
Nick chuckled. “Riiight.”
Sabrina giggled.
He leaned back down and slowly began kissing her hungrily with passion.
------------------
Sabrina’s eyes fluttered open as the sun shined thru Nick’s bedroom window. Sabrina slowly raised her head and saw that Nick was not lying in bed next to her. However, in his place was a beautiful yellow daisy lying on the pillow. Sabrina smiled. The smell of bacon filled her nostrils as she became more awake.
Sabrina sat up holding Nick’s satin sheets up to her naked chest. She then picked up the daisy into her hand and brought it up to her nose and inhaled the flower’s scent. She flipped her hair out of her face and looked over at the time. It read 10:47am.
She could hear Nick cooking in the kitchen. She smiled. She looked around for something to put on. She saw Nick’s white dress shirt lying on the floor. Sabrina climbed out of the bed naked and threw on Nick’s dress shirt. She buttoned up the bottom three buttons of his oversize shirt and walked toward the bathroom to wash her face and brush her teeth. She then made her way into the kitchen.
She could hear Nick humming a tune as he moved about in the kitchen. She stood in the doorway of the kitchen watching him. She thought he looked so sexy wearing only his blue designed boxers.
Nick felt her presence and turned to look at her. “Good morning, beautiful. Hungry?” “Mmmm…smells and looks good.” Sabrina said in her early morning scratchy voice.
“Have a seat at the table, and I will bring it over to you.” Nick said in a chipper tone.
Sabrina smiled as she flipped her long hair over to the side and sat at the table keeping her eyes on him.
“How do you feel this morning? Any morning sickness?”
“No. That usually happens at night for me. So, all is good this morning.”
“Yes it was.” Nick mumbled to himself thinking about their intimate session earlier that morning.
Nick placed her plate in front of her. Nick had cooked bacon, eggs and strawberry pancakes. “Do you want orange juice or fruit juice, courtesy of Joss?” Nick asked with a smile.
Sabrina giggled lightly. “Can I just have water?”
“Coming right up.” Nick said in a giddy tone.
“Why are you so chipper this morning? Are you a morning person?”
“Me a morning person? Not at all.” Nick said grinning as he placed her water in front of her.
He then kissed her forehead before walking back into the kitchen.
“Thank you, baby. This looks delicious.” Sabrina said before digging into her plate.
Nick brought his plate to the table and joined Sabrina. “I hope you enjoy it.”
Sabrina took her first forkful. “Delicious.” Sabrina said covering her mouth.
Nick thanked her as he continued to eat.
“This is your first time cooking for me.” Sabrina acknowledged.
“It wont be the last.” Nick said in a serious tone as he gazed at her.
Sabrina smiled.
They ate in silence for a few moments when Sabrina felt his eyes burning into her. “What?” Sabrina asked. Nick smiled shaking his head. “Nothing.” He said still staring at her with a smile. “Why are you being so weird this morning?” Sabrina giggled.
She then picked up her glass of water and started to drink from it when she noticed something in her glass. Sabrina closely examined it. “Nick…what is this?”
Nick didn’t respond, he only continued to smile.
Sabrina grabbed her fork and fished the object out of her glass of water.
To her surprise, it was a beautiful white silver diamond ring. Sabrina immediately raised her eyes up to Nick in shock.
With a broad smile, Nick got out of his chair and knelt down on bended knee in front of Sabrina. He grabbed the ring from Sabrina and took a napkin from the table and wiped the ring clean and dry.

_ Sabrina was still in shock as she brought her hands up to
her mouth.
The more Nick wiped the ring dry, the more the diamond seem to sparkle. Nick grabbed her left hand and stated, “So…my plan was to give you this last night…but…you kind of fell asleep on me.” Nick chuckled lightly and continued, “Baby, I love you so much. You are all that I think about day and night. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I can’t bare to be away from you any longer. Sabrina Marie Cain…will you marry me?”
“Oh my gosh…Nick…” Sabrina hesitated still in complete utter shock. She then looked like she was going to cry as an apologetic expression swept over her face.
Nick’s smile slowly began to fade.
“…I…I…Oh, Nick…”
“Yes? No? Maybe? What?” Nick asked with a slight nervous chuckle.
A tear fell from her right eye. “Nick…Im sorry…but…No.”

Chapter 4
_
Nick was confused, and hurt as he stared blankly at Sabrina.
“No?”
Sabrina wiped the lone tear that had fallen down her cheek as she tried to hold her emotions in. “Nick, please get up.”
Nick frowned feeling pain of rejection. “Are you really turning me down? You really don’t want to marry me?”
“Nick, we’re not ready…” Sabrina said almost in a pleading tone.
“What do you mean? You say that like we’re 18 years old.”
“I want to marry you…I do, but, we don’t even know about our living arrangements. Everything will be so difficult –“
“No it won’t.”
“Yes it will.”
“No…it won’t.”
“Nick –“
“No, Brin…I mean… if you don’t want to get married then I won’t pressure you.” Nick said standing up full of disappointment.
Nick then reached for his plate and walked away from Sabrina.
Sabrina quickly stood up and followed Nick into the kitchen. “Nick, please don’t be upset.”
Nick laughed out loud sarcastically.
“I want us to do it the right way.”
Nick looked at Sabrina with a confused expression. “How is me asking you to be my wife, not the right way?”
“No, I mean…” Sabrina took a deep breath trying to explain herself. “How are we going to be engaged living in two separate cities?”
“We won’t. You can move here.”
“Nick…I can’t—“
“Why not?” Nick asked quickly ready to protest.
“Because of Cody, for one. I don’t know if I want to just up root him from the schools…”
“I’ve done my research. I have a list of all the best schools that we can choose from.”
“We can’t stay here, Nick. There’s not enough room for Cody and I.”
“You know that house I showed you yesterday?”
Sabrina gave Nick a blank stare.
“It’s ours. Im not looking to buy it or rent it. I already have. Baby, it’s ours.”
“What?”
“It’s ours. I already looked up the schools in that area and that’s why I chose that house. It’s in a great place.”
Sabrina stared at Nick in shock.
Nick stared back at her waiting for another excuse. “So now what?” Nick challenged her.
Sabrina leaned against his counter still in shock about the house. “Well…I…I just can’t leave my job.”
“You have a job here already with Links Advertisement. You heard her say it yourself last night.” Sabrina stood there in shock.
“What?” Nick asked challenging her once again.
“Nick … I can’t…”
“Damn, baby what are you scared of? I won’t let you fail. You can’t fail as long as you’re with me.”
Sabrina folded her arms in front of her chest. She was speechless. The more she thought about it and heard Nick respond to everything she was saying, she began to believe him.
Nick walked past her out of the kitchen and grabbed her plate from the dining room table. “Im not going to beg you, Brin. If you don’t want to get married…then…we won’t get married. I thought you said you wanted to live happily married like your parents. But, if you just want to live like this where we just see each other every few weeks…then…fine.” Nick said somberly as he walked back into the kitchen and started cleaning up.
He didn’t bother to look at Sabrina.
Sabrina looked down at the floor in deep thoughts. “Nick, I just want what’s best for Cody.”
Nick turned and look at her without responding. He didn’t feel the need to keep convincing her.
Nick sighed leaving the dishes in his sink. He walked up to her and kissed her cheek. “It’s whatever, Bri-bear. Im about to take a shower.” Nick said flatly placing the ring on the kitchen counter and walked away.
A single tear fell down her cheek. She knew she had hurt Nick’s heart. She couldn’t understand why she was so afraid to commit. Wasn’t this what she was looking for? Sabrina turned to look at the ring on the counter. She picked it up and slid it on her ring finger. It fit perfectly. The ring was absolutely beautiful. Sabrina extended her hand out to view the ring, giving it better light. Nick was right. She basically already had a job there. Nick already found a house.
Sabrina looked at the ring on her finger once again. She smiled.
Sabrina quickly rushed toward Nick’s bedroom and ran toward the bathroom where she heard the water running in his shower. Sabrina pulled the curtain back and saw Nick standing under the water with soaps suds draining down his muscular physique. Sabrina smiled at the sight.
“What’s up?” Nick asked her, curious as to why she was just standing there with her hands behind her back and a smile on her face.
“Ask me again.”
“Excuse me?”
“Ask me again.”
“Ask you what?”
Sabrina turned her head to the side wondering why he was acting like he didn’t know what she was talking about. “Nick…just ask me again. Please?”
“Now?”
“Nick!”
Nick smiled. “Bri-bear, will you marry me?”
Sabrina gave him a broad smile. “Yes!” she swung her left hand from around her back and showed Nick the ring on her finger.
Nick chuckled. “You’re so fucking stubborn.”
Sabrina giggled. “But you love my stubborn ass.”
Nick laughed. “Yeah…I do.”
He grabbed her arm and tried to pull her into the shower with him.
“No, wait! I don’t want to get my hair wet.” Sabrina protested as she tried to pull her arm away from him.
Nick gave her the ‘I don’t believe you’ look and pulled her harder towards him.
“No! Nick! Stop!” Sabrina laughed as she yelled.
She managed to slip away from him and ran out of the bathroom. Little did she know Nick hopped out of the shower, soaked and wet running after her. He grabbed her waist from behind startling her. She shrieked with surprise. Nick picked her up by the waist and carried her back into the bathroom. Sabrina was trying to squirm her way out of his grip but there was no use. Nick was holding her tightly around her waist. She was playfully screaming trying to get out of his grip. Nick climbed back into the shower still holding Sabrina. He finally let her down under the water from the shower. The water fell down onto her hair and Nick’s white dress shirt she was wearing. She shrieked as the water soaked her.
“Nick!”
All Nick could do was laugh.
Sabrina pushed her hair back allowing the water to mold it flowing down her back.
Nick cornered her up against the shower wall where the water was now falling on both of them. Sabrina looked up at Nick as she bit her lower lip. “I love you Nicholas Lancaster.”
“I love you more.” Nick said and immediately crashed his lips on her lips.
He pulled the shirt she wore open exposing her bare breasts, and began caressing them as he kissed her lips. He tore the last buttons of her shirt apart as he took the shirt she wore completely off. He threw the wet shirt on the bathroom floor as he continued to passionately kiss Sabrina.
As his kisses moved down to her neck, Sabrina closed her eyes and softly moaned at his touch.
Nick moved his kisses back up to her lips and gave her a quick firm kiss on her lips and pulled away. “Hurry, take a shower and get dressed."
“What?” Sabrina said confused as to why he just abruptly stopped.
Sabrina looked half disappointed that he didn’t pursue things any further after he just made her so horny for him. She didn’t want him to leave the shower just yet.
She wrapped her arms around his torso and lowered her hands down to his butt pushing him into her. “Why? I don’t want to go anywhere.” She said looking up at him with lust in her eyes.
Nick smiled and raised his hand up to her chin holding her face up while he tenderly kissed her lips.
“Why can’t we just stay here and just lay around naked all day?” Sabrina smiled and kissed his lips once again.
“Mmmm…that sounds nice. But …I have another idea.”
Sabrina raised her brow waiting for him to respond as she softly rubbed his muscular back up and down to his butt.
“Let’s elope.” Nick finally responded.
Sabrina looked into his eyes remaining silent as if trying to figure out if he was joking or not. She soon realized he was very serious.
“Elope? What?”
“Let’s just go get married right now.” Nick said starting to get excited at the thought.
“But—“ Sabrina started to protest but was stopped short when Nick leaned down and kissed her again while holding her face.
“C’mon, let’s go be spontaneous.” Nick turned to the water and washed off the soap suds on his body.
Sabrina wiped the lone tear that had fallen down her cheek as she tried to hold her emotions in. “Nick, please get up.”

_ He then quickly hopped out of the shower leaving Sabrina
there alone…feeling empty. Sabrina began slowly washing off.
“Well…I was kind of hoping you would just make love to me all day. You know, to kind of celebrate that we just got engaged. Not to elope…Nick?”
Nick started to shave as he rolled his eyes hearing what Sabrina had to say. “Baby, what are you scared of now?”
“Im not scared, Nick..I just—“
“What? Give me one good reason why we can’t or shouldn’t elope? We’re not kids, Brin.”
Sabrina remained quiet while she finished up showering. She turned the water off and opened the shower curtain. Nick was standing there holding a towel open wide for her to step into. Sabrina smirked and walked up toward him as he wrapped the towel around her body and pulling her close.
“So?” Nick said waiting for her to respond to his question.
“I just don’t want us to rush into anything. We haven’t really dated.”
“Rush into anything? Dated? First of all, I’ve known you since we were like 5 years old. We’re damn near 30 years old now. We’re not rushing into anything. Second of all…we have a baby on the way…we’re past dating.” Nick chuckled.
Sabrina gently pushed him away as she tightened the towel around her. Nick stood behind her as they looked at each other in the mirror reflection. He wrapped his arms around her as he rested his chin on her shoulder.
“I want you here with me. I don’t want you to leave. I want to be with you as your belly grows with our baby. I want to see Cody and Joss running around our new home while we tell them stop running or playing so rough.” Nick smiled making Sabrina giggle at the thought. Nick continued, “We can’t do that if you’re still living in Atlanta. You said so yourself that you wanted to be happily married and have more kids. Baby…we can. We will. So, let’s just do it. Allow me to make you happy. Let’s get married and we can welcome in our new baby together…as a family.”
Sabrina gazed at Nick thru their reflection of the mirror. Nick was right, she wanted all of those things.
“What about our family. I wanted a big wedding with all of our friends and family.” Sabrina informed him.
“And we can do that. Later. You don’t want to add all of that stress while your pregnant. We can just elope…get you and Cody moved here before your feet start to swell..” Nick chuckled making Sabrina laugh. He continued, “…and then after the baby is here…we can have the biggest wedding ceremony you want. Whatever my wife wants…she gets. This I promise.”
Sabrina sighed in deep thoughts. Nick clearly wanted to be there for her. He clearly loved her and would never lie to her. Things were going to be perfect. Sabrina smiled.
Nick kissed her cheek. “Yes?” He then kissed her neck. “No?”
Sabrina began to giggle as Nick pretended to munch on her neck.
“Maybe?” Nick asked thru his many kisses on her neck.
Sabrina burst into laughter as she leaned away from him. She turned to face him as she gazed into his eyes. “Okay.”
“Okay?” Nick asked raising his brows in shock.
“Yes. Let’s just do it.”
Nick smiled with satisfaction. “Damn, I love you.” Nick said and passionately began kissing her.

_
Sandra opened the door to see Joanna and her baby
granddaughter, Josslyn, standing on the other side.
“Grandmommy!” Josslyn shouted immediately as soon as Sandra opened the door.
“Hi, my baby!” Sandra cheerfully said as she picked up Josslyn into her arms. She stood back to allow Joanna to walk inside her house.
“Grandmommy, look at mommy’s tummy! It’s getting biiiiig.” Josslyn stated excitedly.
Sandra laughed at her granddaughter and looked at Joanna. “Sweetie, you haven’t seen nothing yet! Wait til your mommy is knocking on her 9th month of pregnancy.”
Joanna rubbed her belly with a smile. “Oh gosh Ms. Sandra, please don’t remind me.”
Sandra laughed as she took a seat on her sofa with Josslyn sitting on her lap. “How are you feeling today, honey?”
“Fat.” Joanna simply stated putting Josslyn’s overnight bag in the corner of the living room. She continued, “Are you sure you’re okay with keeping Joss for the night?”
“Yeah! It gives me a chance to spend some time with my grandbaby.” Sandra said kissing Josslyn’s cheek.
“Grandmommy, did you know my daddy put that baby in mommy’s tummy? He should get a spankin’ for doing that.” Josslyn said in her cute little frown.
“Why? You don’t want mommy and daddy to have another baby? Don’t you want a little brother or sister?” Sandra asked.
“Yes, but…mommy’s feet always hurt. Her back always hurts.” Josslyn said playing with an object she found on Sandra’s table.
Joanna laughed nervously. “Uhhh, Joss, sweetie…grandma doesn’t want to hear about me and my complaints.”
Sandra laughed. “It’s okay. You know Nick put me thru a lot of pain when I had him. I was miserable. Jo, did you find out what you’re having? A boy or a girl?”
“Well, I don’t know yet. I wanted Nick to be there with me so we could find out together…but as you and I both know, Nick doesn’t appear to find the time to come with me to my doctor’s appointments."
Sandra turned to Josslyn sitting in her lap. “Hey little munchkin, why don’t you go upstairs and play with those new toys I got you and I will be right up.”
“Ohh yeah! Okay!” Josslyn hopped off Sandra’s lap and darted for the steps.
“Jossy, come give mommy a hug and kiss first.” Joanna said to Josslyn before she reached her first step.
Josslyn ran back to Joanna and gave her a hug and kiss.
“Mommy will see you in the morning okay?”
“Mm-hmm! Love you!”
“I love you.” Joanna said with a smile as she watched Josslyn run her little legs up the steps.
Sandra stood up and walked toward her kitchen. Joanna followed her.
“Ms. Sandra, Nick is still ignoring me. I have been calling him all day and night. His home phone rings and rings. His cell phone goes straight to his voice mail as if he has it turned off. What’s going on with him?” Joanna complained.
Sandra sighed. “Im not sure, Jo. I went by his apartment yesterday during my lunch to talk to him. He had his place spotless clean. I haven’t seen it so clean like that since the day he moved in. I think he was expecting company.”
Joanna frowned. “Who? Sabrina Cain?”
Sandra began brewing coffee.
“Well…he wouldn’t tell me. But I doubt it. She’s way in Atlanta.”
“Can I ask you something?” Joanna asked as she took a seat at Sandra’s breakfast table.
“Sure honey.”
“Did Nick and Sabrina ever date?”
Sandra laughed. “Oh, no. They’re just friends. He used to have a little crush on her when he was younger. I think he looks at her like a sister.”
Joanna snickered in disbelief. Clearly Nick’s mother had no idea about Nick’s feelings about this Sabrina girl.
“Really? Wow. Liam said they were dating.” Joanna stated.
Sandra turned to look at Joanna slightly stunned. “Dating? No, that can’t be true. He would have told me. But then again…he didn’t tell me about his promotion at his job…so I don’t know about my son anymore.”
“Promotion? Nick got a promotion?”
“Yes. He didn’t tell you about it either I see.”
“No…he didn’t. He’s ignoring me, remember.”
“Im sorry dear. I don’t know what has gotten into that boy lately.”
“Uhm…so…even if Nick were seeing this other girl…Sabrina…let’s just say she was pregnant…he would have told you, right?”
Sandra was fixing her coffee when she stopped and looked at Joanna.
“Do you know something I should know?”
“No, I was just wondering. Just curious.” Joanna quickly responded.
“Of course he would have told me. When you told him you were pregnant again, he told me. He said ‘mom…Joanna says she’s pregnant again.’ And then that’s when he went into this whole spill that it wasn’t his…but you know I don’t believe that. That was the same crap he said before when you were pregnant with Jossy.”
Joanna gave her a faint smile. “Thanks Ms. Sandra….for believing in me.”
Sandra smiled at her. “Of course.” She took a sip of her coffee.
“Well…I should be going.” Joanna stood up adjusting her shirt over her round belly.
“Jo…honey…”
Joanna turned to Sandra waiting for her to continue.
“Don’t worry about Nick. He will come around. He’s just in shock right now.”
“No offense Ms. Sandra, but Im 6months pregnant. Nick has three months to get it together and the baby will be here. There’s no time for shock.”
“I know honey. Just give him time.”
Joanna gave her a faint smile and said her goodbyes.
“Grandmommy!” Josslyn shouted immediately as soon as Sandra opened the door.
“Hi, my baby!” Sandra cheerfully said as she picked up Josslyn into her arms. She stood back to allow Joanna to walk inside her house.

Miley
_ Joanna got into the passenger side of the car as her sister
Miley waited for her sitting in the driver’s seat.
“Well? Is there any truth that Sabrina is pregnant?” Miley asked Joanna as she settled into the passenger seat.
“Sandra doesn’t know shit. But she said that Nick was expecting company because he had cleaned his apartment to look spotless clean. That bitch is here.”
“You want to go over there?” Miley asked her sister.
Joanna folded her arms and looked out the window with an evil stare. “Yeah.”
