Nick's apartment
_
As soon as Nick opened the door, Sabrina rushed towards his
bathroom while Nick calmly walked in looking around his apartment.
He walked toward his bedroom passing by Josslyn’s room. Her bedroom door was open. He didn’t think anything of it, but he always thought he closed her door when she wasn’t there.
Nick walked into his bedroom and placed his overnight bag on his bed. Sabrina walked out of his bathroom feeling relieved as she pulled her black thin knit sweater down around her waist.

_She pouted when she looked at
Nick. “I don’t want to leave you. Don’t you want to come back with me?”
Nick smiled as he reached for her walking up to her. They slowly embraced each other cherishing the moment.
“You’re coming back in two weeks though, right?” Nick asked calmly. Sabrina pulled away giving him a faint smile and nodded ‘yes’.
Nick leaned down and kissed her as he intertwined his fingers with hers slightly raising her hands up toward his chest. They slowly pulled away still holding hands and gazing at each other.
“Are you leaving now or are you going to stick around a little?” Nick asked softly.
Sabrina glanced over at the clock on his dresser. She sighed noticing the time was 1:15pm. “I should probably go ahead and get on the road. Plus, you have to go to work in a few, right?”
“Im not going in until about 4:00.” Nick informed her.
“Oh.” Sabrina simply stated as she stared at his lips.
“I think I should just call some people and have them send your things down here. Tell Kelly to bring Cody down and that way you don’t have to leave.”
Sabrina smiled shaking her head. “I hope you don’t get tired of Cody and I and want to send us back.” She teased.
Nick frowned as he cocked his head back. “What? Don’t be silly. I would never send you guys back. Are you crazy?!”
Sabrina laughed and wrapped her arms around his neck giving him a hug.
Nick wrapped his arm tightly around her.
They pulled away and kissed. Sabrina closed her eyes and rubbed her lips against Nick’s lips. She was going to miss his lips and the wonderful things he could do with them.
Sabrina smiled at the thought. “I should go.” She finally stated.
Nick loudly sighed. “Alright. Let’s go.”
He patted her butt before pulling away from her. Sabrina smirked and smacked his butt as hard as she could as he walked away.
“Damn, Bri-bear!” Nick said slightly stunned.
Sabrina laughed and jumped on his back. She quickly wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed his cheek. “You know you liked it.”
Nick chuckled as he grabbed her legs and held them around his torso inviting her to stay on his back.
He walked down the steps and toward his car in the parking lot giving Sabrina a ‘piggy back ride’ on his back. Sabrina kept giving him kisses on his cheeks as he walked.
“Hey....you better stop before I take you back upstairs and handle some business with you.”
“You wouldn’t do anything.” Sabrina challenged him.
Nick quickly turned back toward his apartment.
“No, no, no! Nick! No!” Sabrina shrieked with laughter.
Nick laughed and turned back toward his car.
He finally put her down on her feet once he reached his car. “You know I would, without a doubt…but I want you to get on the road, so it won’t be so dark by the time you get home.” Nick said wrapping his hands around her hips. He leaned forward and gave her a quick firm kiss on the lips.
“I know.” Sabrina said once they pulled away from each other.
Nick proceeded to get Sabrina’s bag from his car and transferred them over to her car. Sabrina placed her purse into her car and stood next to Nick once he was done loading her bags. Nick closed the door and immediately wrapped his arms around Sabrina’s neck pulling her into him. Sabrina wrapped her arms around his torso and pressed her face against his chest taking in his scent that always smelled intoxicating to her. She loved it.
“So…I will make sure you get all your furniture taken care of for you, and…”
“No, Nick. I can handle all of that stuff.” Sabrina said pulling her head away from his chest and looking up at him.
Nick looked down at her. “Yeah, but I don’t want you stressing over anything. Let me take care of that stuff. I will send you all the things you need to know about the schools for Cody too. You just let me know which school and I will take care of the rest for you.”
Sabrina looked down at his chest and nodded her head saying ‘okay’. She looked back up at him and asked, “When are you moving into the house?”
“In exactly two weeks. I hope to have everything already done so when you move down here, all you have to do is prop up those swollen feet of yours and relax.”
Sabrina playfully hit his arm. “My feet are not swollen!”
“Well not yet…” Nick teased her.
“Nick!” she hit him again.
Nick chuckled. “Hey can I tell you a secret?”
“What?”
“I love this baby weight you’re getting.”
Sabrina gasped and pushed him away. “Im not fat!”
Nick pulled her up to him again by grabbing her hips with a smile on his face. “I didn’t say you were! But you said so yourself that the baby was giving you a few extra inches. And all im saying is that I can tell, and I love it. Makes you even more sexy.” Nick finished as he gripped her butt with both hands giving it a squeeze.
Sabrina stood on her tip of her toes and wrapped her arms around his neck. “Is that why you can’t keep your hands off my ass?” Sabrina teased him.
Nick smiled and nodded yes as he leaned into her locking his lips between her lips.
Sabrina deepened the kiss as she slid her tongue inside of his mouth and began sucking his bottom lip. Nick softly moaned pushing her against her car. Sabrina smiled thru their kiss realizing that Nick loved when she did that.
“Daddy!!” said a small voice quickly approaching them as the sounds of little feet hit the pavement.
Nick and Sabrina quickly jolted away from each other toward the voice that was now only a few feet away from them.
Nick looked down and saw Josslyn running right toward him. “Hey!” Nick said in shock. He quickly swooped her up in his arms. Josslyn wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed his cheek.
Sabrina suddenly felt very uncomfortable as she folded her arms across her chest and looked away.
“Pumpkin eater, what are you doing here?” Nick asked still in shock.
“Daddy I’ve missed you!” Josslyn responded.
Nick looked across the parking lot in the direction of which Josslyn had come from and saw Joanna walking around her parked car, glaring at him and the woman he was just making out with, Sabrina. Nick slightly frowned to see Joanna there.
“Daddy, who are you kiss-sssing?” Josslyn tried to whisper but was loud enough for Sabrina to hear.
Nick quickly turned his attention back to his daughter and Sabrina trying to pull off a more pleasant expression. “Uhh…Sweetie, this is Sabrina. Remember? I used to talk to her on the computer screen a long time ago?”
Josslyn stared at Sabrina as she shyly rested her head on Nick’s shoulder. Sabrina smiled at the cute little girl. Sabrina thought she was so precious and cute as a button. She realized this was the first time she met his little girl in person. And sadly, she was already married to her father, making Josslyn her stepdaughter.
“Hi cutie! You are just too cute! My name is Sabrina.” Sabrina said sweetly as she reached out to grab Josslyn’s hand.
At the sight of Sabrina touching her daughter, Joanna quickly shouted out, “Josslyn, baby, come here! Now, please!”
Josslyn quickly snapped her head toward her mother and wiggled her way out of Nick’s arms. Nick gently placed Josslyn back down to the ground as she rushed off toward her mother, Joanna. Nick watched Josslyn to make sure she was okay by running back across the parking lot. Nick found himself glaring at Joanna. Why was she here? Now? Nick thought feeling upset.
“Nick! Can I talk to you? Please?” Joanna said once she picked up Josslyn sitting her on her hip next to her round bulging belly.
Nick sighed as he placed his hands on his waist. He didn’t respond to Joanna, instead he just turned back around to face Sabrina. He could tell Sabrina felt very uncomfortable with the whole situation.
“Baby…Im so sorry…I didn’t know—“
“It’s okay. Im leaving anyway…so…” Sabrina said folding her arms back across her chest.
“Don’t go yet. Please. Let me just get rid of her, and I will be right back. Okay?”
Sabrina nodded her head yes as she looked up at him.
“Okay…don’t leave, Brin.” Nick said once again before leaving her side.
Nick walked over toward Joanna trying to remain calm as he rolled up his long sleeves.
Joanna watched Nick approached her. She thought he was looking very handsome as usual, except she was too upset to see him kissing another woman. Mainly because that other woman was Sabrina.
Joanna placed Josslyn on top of the trunk of her car. Nick walked right up to Joanna and asked in a low harsh tone, “What the fuck are you doing here?”
Joanna immediately furrowed her brows as she looked up at him. “Why are you speaking to me like that? And in front of your daughter, Nick?”
Nick glanced at Josslyn who didn’t appear to be paying much attention. “Jo, what are you doing here?”
“I came to talk to you before you went to work.”
“What, it couldn’t wait?” Nick asked in disbelief.
“No, Nick! We need to talk. Besides, you can’t turn me away now that Im here. Im pregnant and came all the way over here to talk to you, so you better not send me and your daughter away.” Joanna challenged Nick.
Nick looked away from her and looked at the ground while mumbling a curse.
“Daddy, Im thirsty. Can I have my juice box in your reefidgedator?” Josslyn asked speaking of his refrigerator.
Nick looked up at his daughter as she looked so cutely up at him while playing with her shoe. Nick looked at Joanna and saw a smirk on her face. “Just…go upstairs and wait. The door is open.” Nick said reluctantly.
“Okay, baby, let’s go get you some juice.” Joanna said happily as she picked Josslyn up from the top of the car trunk.
“Yaayy!” Josslyn cheered.
Nick stood there avoiding their eye contact realizing that Sabrina was going to see Joanna going up to his apartment.
“Daddy, are you coming?” Josslyn asked as she held her mother’s hand.
“Yeah, baby…I will be right up okay? Just make sure mommy gets inside, okay?”
“Got it! C’mon mommy.” Josslyn said cutely pulling on Joanna’s hand.
Joanna walked with her daughter and gave Sabrina one final glare before proceeding to walk on.
Nick slowly turned around and walked back toward Sabrina avoiding her eye contact. Nick walked up to Sabrina as he stuck his hands in his jean pockets.
He stepped up closely to her almost pressing his body up against her forcing her to remain leaned against her car. Nick still hadn’t looked Sabrina in the eye.
“Did you tell her?” Sabrina asked with her arms still folded and looking up at Nick.
Nick slowly raised his eyes up from the ground to look directly in Sabrina’s eyes. “Tell her what?” “Tell her what??” Sabrina repeated mocking him in disbelief. “Nick…does she know that we’re married and that Im pregnant?”
Nick remained silent for a moment. “I will…but who cares about her. I don’t.” Nick said barricading Sabrina against the car as he placed the palms of his hands down on top of the car.
Sabrina lowered her head down into her hands.
“What’s wrong?” Nick asked softly leaning into her.
“Nick stop.” Sabrina said slightly pushing him away.
Nick saw that she was crying. “Brin, what…why are you crying?”
“Im not…I—“
“Brin, Im looking right at you. You’re crying.” Nick said as he gently took his thumb and wiped a tear from her cheek.
Sabrina moved her face away from his touch. “No, its just that…” Sabrina hesitated.
“What…” Nick said in a low tone pleading for her talk to him.
“It just…that was my first time physically meeting your daughter, and she’s already my stepdaughter when I know nothing about her. She doesn’t know me…I don’t know her…and this is how we meet?” Sabrina said burying her face into her hands once again.
Nick wrapped his arms around her shoulders as he pulled her into him. He rested his chin on the crown of her head.
Sabrina gently pushed Nick away from her once again forcing him step back.
“No, it’s okay. Im okay. I just…it’s just…it’s like we’ve been living in this little bubble all weekend and now its back to reality. And it’s just a bit much.” Sabrina said trying to control her emotions. Nick grabbed her hands in comfort. “We’ll be fine. Everything is going to work out fine. Trust me. Joss knows you…she’s just a kid. You know how kids are. We’ll be fine, okay?” Nick stepped up to her and kissed her forehead leaving his lips there for a moment. “I love you. Please remember that.” Nick said softly as he raised her chin up so she could look at him. “You still love me?” Nick asked.
Sabrina gave him a faint laugh. “Of course.”
Nick smiled. “Good. Then I’ll see you in two weeks and we’ll be in our new home.” Nick said with confidence and kissed her lips as he held her face in his hands.
When they finally pulled away, Sabrina turned to open her car door and got inside. Nick closed her door for her.
“Call me.” Nick said as Sabrina turned her car engine on.
Sabrina nodded giving him a faint smile. She placed the car in reverse and drove away.
Nick stood there and watched her leave out of the parking lot.
Nick took a deep breath and looked at his apartment. He really didn’t want to be bothered with Joanna. This, he knew, was something he didn’t look forward to.
Nick walked into his apartment and saw Joanna sitting on his sofa while Josslyn was running around with her juice box in her hand. Josslyn stopped when she saw Nick. She ran up to him and asked, “Daddy, why did you put that baby in mommy’s tummy? She not feeling well.”
Nick frowned at Josslyn and looked up at Joanna who just sat there staring blankly at him. Nick picked Josslyn up holding her in his arms. “Where do you get this stuff from, huh?”
Josslyn slurped her juice up into her straw and answered, “Mommy told me.”
Nick glanced over at Joanna once again.
Joanna was running her fingers thru her long black hair as her other hand rested on her round belly.
Nick started to walk toward Josslyn’s room. “Do me a favor, pumpkin…can you stay in your room and let mommy and daddy talk?” Nick said as he placed her down on her bed in her room.
“Are you and mommy gonna fight?”
“Noooo.” Nick lied. “Let’s turn on your television and see what’s on.”
“I don’t like my channels. Can I watch your t.v in your room?” Josslyn pouted her lips.
“You promise to stay in there until mommy or daddy come get you? And you promise not to mess with anything in my room that may be breakable?”
Josslyn nodded her head with a broad smile without showing her baby teeth.
Nick smiled and kissed her cheek. “Okay c’mon.”
Josslyn grabbed a few of her toys as she walked with Nick to his bedroom.
Nick turned on his television and turned the volume up loud. He had a few words he needed to tell Joanna and he didn’t want Josslyn to hear any of it.
Josslyn bounced on Nick’s bed.
“Hey, no bouncing.” Nick said firmly.
Josslyn immediately stopped.
“Okay, Im going to go talk to mommy. Are you good?”
“Yep.” Josslyn responded.
“Okay.” Nick said and closed his door shut.
As soon as Nick walked into his living room, Joanna started.
“So, you’re fucking her, huh?”
“What the hell do you want, Jo?”
“Why are you being so mean to me?”
“Why do you feel like you can just drop by whenever the hell you want to?”
Joanna struggled to get up from the sofa but she eventually rose to her feet. She walked up to Nick saying, “You won’t ever return any of my calls! I’ve called and called you. Check your phone asshole! But I guess I know why you haven’t been picking up my calls this weekend. It’s because of that bitch you’re fucking!”
“Don’t call her a bitch.” Nick said calmly.
Joanna felt he said that a little too calm. Almost as if he were warning her. Joanna ignored his warning and kept talking. “Are you fucking her?”
“It’s none of your fucking business, Jo!”
Joanna started to get teary-eyed as her emotions became haywired.
“If you’re fucking her, why do you keep leading me on? Huh, Nick? We’re supposed to be a family.” Nick looked at her as if she were crazy. “When are you going to understand that we are not together!”
“Im the mother of your child, Nick! Im the one carrying your child now!”
“No, Sabrina is the one carrying my fucking child! Not you!” Nick blurted out in frustration.
Joanna remained silent as she narrowed her eyes at Nick. If looks could kill, Nick would fall over dead, right at that moment.
“So it’s true. She is pregnant.” Joanna said now fuming with anger.
“Yeah she is.” Nick said calmly.
Nick took a deep breath as he prepared to give her the rest of the news. “Look…it’s going to be some changes around here.”
“Like what, Nick? I don’t want that bitch around my child.”
Nick shook his head and looked back at her speaking calmly, “First of all…I told you to stop calling her a bitch. Second of all, she’s going to have to be around my child, Josslyn, because that’s just it. She’s my child too. And Sabrina is going to be around me.”
“How is she going to be around you, Nick? You are not taking Josslyn to Atlanta. Over my dead fucking body!” Joanna yelled.
“Then so be it. But I don’t give a fuck what you say...Sabrina is going to be around Josslyn, because she’s my wife. And like it or not, Sabrina is Josslyn’s stepmother.”
Joanna was shocked to hear Nick say that as her mouth formed an ‘O’ shape. She then looked as if she wanted to cry.
“Wife?! She’s your wife?! You married her? You’re married?!” Joanna’s emotions were twisted with anger and sadness. She didn’t know what to say or how to respond. She stared at Nick as he stared back at her with an expressionless face. “I don’t believe you.” Joanna challenged Nick. “Then don’t. I don’t give a fuck what you believe.” Nick said nonchalantly.
“You are such an asshole. I don’t deserve this kind of treatment. I can’t believe you’re doing this to me, after everything I have done for you! I was there for you when that bitch wasn’t even around when you almost fucking died!”
Nick suddenly violently grabbed Joanna’s arm pulling her toward his door.
Joanna tried to pull away from him as she yanked her arm away from his hold. “Don’t fucking touch me!”
Nick grabbed for her again. “Get out! Get the fuck out!”
“Stop! Nick! Let Go!”
“I told you to stop calling her a bitch!”
“She is, Nick! That bitch can’t just come around here and fuck up what we have!”
“WE DON”T HAVE SHIT!” Nick shouted loudly with anger at her.
Nick yanked his door open and attempted to push Joanna out of his apartment. When he pushed her, Joanna tripped and fell hard on the ground in the breezeway. Joanna yelped as she hit the ground. She immediately grabbed her round belly wincing in pain.
Nick looked down at her with regret. He didn’t mean to shove her to the ground. “Oh shit…Jo.” Nick said as he immediately crouched down to the ground where Joanna was still wincing in pain. “Jo…are you okay?” Nick asked with sincere concern.
Joanna began crying feeling in pain. “Get away from me, Nick. I can’t believe you pushed me!” Joanna shouted at him.
“Shhh…Jo…stop. Calm down.” Nick said getting worried that the baby she was carrying may be injured.
Nick’s neighbor, Emma, stuck her head out into the breezeway where Joanna was still lying on the ground.

Emma (neighbor)
_
The woman saw Nick tending to a pregnant woman on the
ground. “Oh my gosh, is she okay? Should I call 9-1-1?”
At that moment, Josslyn came to the door and started crying when she saw her mother lying on the ground in tears.
“Mommy!” Josslyn cried.
Nick quickly grabbed Josslyn hugging her. “Shhh…it’s okay, baby.” Nick looked up at his neighbor. “Can you do me a huge favor? Please watch my daughter while I take her mother to the hospital.”
“Yeah, sure.” she responded.
Nick immediately handed Josslyn over to Emma. Nick kissed Josslyn’s cheek as she still cried. “Daddy is going to make sure mommy is okay. We’ll be right back, okay? Stay here with Emma.” “Nooooo! I wanna goooo!” Josslyn wailed.
“Emma…please?” Nick pleaded wanting her to go ahead and take Josslyn away.
Emma nodded and tried to comfort Josslyn as she walked back toward her apartment. Josslyn knew Emma because Emma had a little cousin she would sometimes keep and Josslyn would play with that cousin when she spent her weekends with Nick. So, Emma didn’t have a problem in comforting Josslyn.
Nick swooped Joanna up into his arms while she still held her belly. He carried her bridal style down to his car and rushed her to the hospital.

Chapter 7
_
Sabrina finally made it back to Atlanta. She was a little
surprised that Nick never called to check on her. She figured he must have
been still talking to Joanna or spending time with Josslyn. She wondered if she
should call. Would she be interrupting their quality time? If she did interrupt
their quality time, didn’t she have the right since she was now Nick’s wife?
Wife…Sabrina thought still amazed that they’re really married. Sabrina opted
not to call as she navigated her way thru downtown Atlanta traffic.
Aunt Kelly & Cody
_
About forty-five minutes later, Sabrina arrived at her aunt
Kelly’s house to pick up Cody. Cody answered the door. He saw Sabrina and immediately
gave her a hug. Sabrina gave him a warm smile and returned his hug. “Hey baby!”
She bent down and kissed his cheeks multiple times.
“I missed you!” Cody said cheerfully.
“I missed you too!”
“How’s Nick?” Cody asked as he escorted Sabrina inside Kelly’s home.
“He is doing really good.” Sabrina smiled at Cody.
Kelly came from the back room and greeted Sabrina. “Hey sweetie.” Kelly said giving Sabrina a hug. “How was your trip back up?” Kelly asked.
“Long. I have got to use the bathroom.” Sabrina said as she rushed past both Cody and Kelly.
A couple of minutes later, Sabrina joined Kelly and Cody in the guest bedroom where Cody was packing up his things to go back home with Sabrina.
“Hey, I got you something.” Sabrina said to Cody handing him a bag of souvenirs from Tampa. “Cool!!” Cody exclaimed. “Thanks mom! I thought you went to Gainesville?”
“I did. But I also went to Tampa.” Sabrina said looking at her aunt.
Kelly was getting some things out of the closet to help Cody pack. “Why did you guys go to Tampa? What’s in Tampa?” Kelly asked with a smile.
Sabrina hid her left hand behind her back to hide her ring finger from Kelly.
“Uhm..Kelly can I talk to you for a second?”
Kelly stopped to look at Sabrina trying to read her body language. “Yea, sure…is everything okay?”
“Mm-hmm.” Sabrina responded nodding her head. She then kissed Cody on the crown of his head. “We’ll be right back, okay honey?”
“Okay.” Cody said looking thru his bag of goodies that Sabrina had bought him.
Kelly walked into her bedroom with Sabrina close behind her. Sabrina lightly closed the door shut. Kelly sat on her bed starting to get worried.
“Okay, Brin…you’re scaring me a little. What’s wrong? Is the baby okay?”
“Oh yeah…everything is fine.”
“You and Nick…something went wrong with you guys?” Kelly asked trying to guess what Sabrina wanted to talk to her about.
“No…nothing went wrong. Well…not to me.” Sabrina said not sure how to respond to her aunt. “Then what is it, sweetie?”
A smile slowly spread across Sabrina’s lips as she held up her left hand as if she were scratching her nose. Kelly’s eyes went wide in shock. She gasped. “NO. WAY!” Kelly said loudly as she rose on her feet.
Sabrina smiled and nodded her head vigorously.
“Oh my God, you’re engaged!!” Kelly said with excitement. She rushed up to Sabrina and hugged her. Sabrina embraced Kelly’s hug. “Brin, that’s great! Im so happy for you!”
“Thank you.” Sabrina smiled.
“Wow…” Kelly said as the thought really began to sink into her brain while staring at the beautiful ring on her finger. “So…how did he propose?”
“Uhm… during breakfast on Saturday morning. He cooked breakfast and he was acting really giddy. Well, first he said he was going to propose to me on Friday night, but I had fallen asleep on him. And then, the next morning, he gave me a glass of water and the ring was at the bottom of the glass. And that’s when he dropped down to one knee.”
“Aww…cute. Well…Im happy for you sweetie! You guys have a lot on your plate before getting married. You have the baby…and…have you guys decided who was going to do the moving? Or are you both going to move to a different city once the baby is born? I mean…you guys talked about all that, right?” Kelly asked still slightly concerned.
“Uhhh….yeah.” Sabrina hesitated.
Kelly sensed Sabrina was holding out on some information.
“What…?” Kelly asked suspiciously.
“Please don’t be upset. But…we eloped in Tampa.” Sabrina blurted.
Kelly just stared at Sabrina for a few seconds before realizing what she just said to her.
“You what?”
Sabrina took a deep breath. “He proposed to me on Saturday morning and we were married Saturday evening. I am now, Mrs. Sabrina Lancaster.”
Kelly was speechless. She sat back down on the bed and stared at Sabrina not sure how to respond. Kelly felt a thousand emotions but wasn’t sure which she should be feeling.
“Oh.” Was all Kelly could say.
“Oh? Just, ‘oh’? That’s all you have to say?” Sabrina asked disappointed in her aunt.
“Well…I mean…well…congratulations…?”
Sabrina pouted. “You’re not happy for me?”
“Are you happy?”
“Yes.” Sabrina answered without hesitation.
“Then..that’s all that matters.” Kelly said plastering a smile on her face.
“We’ll be fine, aunt Kelly.”
“I know. So…is he here?”
“No. He’s in Gainesville.”
“Oh…so..when is he moving here? Or … are you guys still going to have a long distance ... marriage…I don’t understand.” Kelly asked confused.
“No…aunt Kelly…I am…I’m moving to Gainesville. In two weeks.”
Kelly immediately frowned. She then tried to remain calm. “Wait…what?”
Sabrina cleared her throat and avoided eye contact with her aunt. “Nick already has a house for us. I’ve already had a job offer, and Nick is going to send me all of the information for the schools there in Gainesville for Cody. So…you see? Everything will be fine.”
Kelly leaned forward placing her elbows on her knees raising her hands up to her chin in deep thoughts.
“Brin…don’t you think this is all too fast? I mean..how are you going to do all of this when you’re pregnant?”
“Well, I’ll only be 10 weeks by time I move, so it’s not like I’ll be 8months pregnant. I mean it’s all very simple, aunt Kelly.”
“Brin, it all sounds nice, but…”
“Just be happy for me. Im not asking for your permission.”
“Well, I know that, because you already did it.”
“Right. So just be happy for me.”
“I'll be happy for you Brin, but im sorry…I don’t like it.”
“Why?”
“It's too much all too soon, Brin. You and Nick have barely dated since you’ve been adults. I mean don’t get me wrong, I think Nick is a great guy, but do you really know Nick?”
“Of course I do…aunt Kelly, why would you say something like that? I’ve known Nick since I was five years old.”
“Trust me…a man is a lot different than he was as a child.”
“What are you saying, aunt Kelly?”
“You don’t know Nick. You don’t know everything about him since you both were in high school. You just met back up with him during your class reunion, right? Who knows the kind of person Nick was in that 10 year span. That’s why you get to know him a little better. Your reunion was only a few months ago, and you two are married? Don’t you think that’s a bit much?”
“I know more about Nick than you do with your own husband, Derek!” Sabrina protested.
“I didn’t marry Derek within months of getting to know him. We dated for 2 years and then engaged for a year. That’s when we married.” Kelly argued.
“That was only because he was fulfilling his military duties, aunt Kelly. I bet you guys would have married sooner if he weren’t.”
“No, Brin, that’s not true.” Kelly said as she crossed her arms in front of her chest.
“Whatever.” Sabrina said annoyed. She continued, “Im going home. Im tired.” Sabrina walked toward the door and reached for the door knob.
“Brin, what about Cody? Are you just going to take Cody away from his friends and change schools in the middle of the year?” Kelly asked concerned as she rose to her feet.
“I’ve thought about all of that, aunt Kelly.”
“Sabrina, marriage is a serious thing, you know?”
“Im not a kid, aunt Kelly. I know what im doing.” Sabrina shook her head at her aunt. “You’re making my head hurt. Im just going to go now.” Sabrina walked out of Kelly’s bedroom and looked for Cody. “Cody, baby, let’s go home.”

“I missed you!” Cody said cheerfully.

Top: Joanna, Bottom: Miley & Liam
_ Nick walked behind the nurse as she rolled Joanna down
the corridor of the hospital in a wheelchair. They walked out toward the
waiting room where Joanna’s sister, Miley, and her boyfriend Liam, were
waiting.
When they saw Nick and Joanna, they immediately stood up and walked toward them waiting to hear some good news about the baby.
“The baby is fine.” Joanna informed them.
Miley immediately placed her hand over her chest and sighed with relief. “Thank God.” Miley said.
“Yes, the doctor said she and the baby are fine. She just needs to watch her step next time.” The nurse added with a smile.
“Can we please just leave.” Joanna said tiredly.
“Does somebody have the car ready?” The nurse asked.
“Yeah…sorry. I’ll go get my car.” Nick said somberly.
“No, we can drive. Liam and I will take her home.” Miley insisted.
“No, allow me.” Nick demanded.
He then walked off to head toward the hospital parking lot. Liam quickly followed saying, “I’ll go with him.” Liam rushed to catch up with Nick.
“Hey bro! Hey.” Liam said catching up with Nick and now walking along side him. “What the hell happened?”
“Everything was just crazy.” Nick said not really wanting to talk about it.
“What are you going to do about work? You are super late.”
“I called out.” Nick informed him.
“Your first day as VP and your ass calls out?” Liam chuckled lightly.
“I just have a lot on my mind.” Nick responded with a serious expression.
“Dude…like what?”
“Liam…its my fault Joanna is here. I could have made her lose the baby.” Nick said feeling guilty. “What happened?” Liam asked once again.
Nick filled Liam in on everything. Joanna never told the doctors about Nick pushing her. Instead she just kept her story simple, saying she tripped and fell. Nick then filled Liam in on his weekend with Sabrina.
“Holy shit, bro. I don’t know if I should be saying congrats or ask you what the hell were you thinking.” Liam responded to hearing the news.
Nick couldn’t help but chuckle at his best friend Liam. They hopped in Nick’s car and drove around to the 'pick up and drop off' area of the hospital parking lot. The nurse, Miley and Joanna were there waiting for them.
“Listen, don’t tell Miley any of this stuff. I don’t need Jo knowing all of the details on everything just yet.”
“Don’t worry. I won’t.” Liam reassured Nick.
Later, Nick drove Joanna back to his apartment to pick up Josslyn from his neighbor, Emma’s apartment, while Liam and Miley followed. Miley ended up driving Joanna’s car from Nick’s apartment back to Joanna’s apartment since she was not able to drive. Once Nick got Josslyn, he took both Joanna and Josslyn back to Joanna’s apartment.
Nick escorted Joanna to her bed and pretty much waited on her hand and foot. It was getting late and Nick made sure Josslyn took her bath and tucked her into bed.
“Good night my pumpkin eater.” Nick said kissing Josslyn’s forehead.
“Good night, daddy.” Josslyn replied as she held on tightly to her teddy bear.
Nick walked out of Josslyn’s bedroom and walked into Joanna’s bedroom. She was lying in bed watching television.
“Hey.” Nick said as he walked in.
“Hi.” Joanna said softly not looking at him.
“How are you feeling?”
“Im okay.”
“Good. The doctor said you should probably take it easy for the next few days. Make sure you do that, alright?” Nick said calmly as he sat on the edge of her bed.
“Since when did you start caring? Im not carrying your child so why would you care…right?” Joanna said sarcastically as she looked at the television.
“Whether you’re carrying my child or not, you’re still with child. And I shouldn’t have pushed you. Jo…Im sorry.” Nick said as he placed his hand on her leg thru her blanket.
“Can I ask you a question without you getting angry with me?”
Nick nodded his head yes.
“Why did you have to marry her? You didn’t even give me a chance to make things work with you and I…why?”
Nick lowered his head and rubbed his forehead. “Jo…you didn’t want me. You don’t want me. You never did, never have and never will. It was just sex with us. You know that. Why are you acting like this?”
“That’s not true, Nick. We both didn’t know what we wanted back then. The one thing we both knew, was that we enjoy great sex with each other. But when I thought I lost you back when you were in the hospital…didn’t you think we could have made things work? We were doing so well together. And next thing I know…you go off and marry the girl who doesn’t give two rat’s tail about you.”
Nick shook his head and stood up. “I gotta go.”
Joanna saw him about to leave and blurted, “Wait!” She touched her belly and paused.
Nick looked worried and walked back over to her bedside and sat down next to her looking at her belly. “What’s wrong?”
Joanna grabbed Nick’s hand and brought it up to her belly.
Nick felt the baby kick. Nick was stunned. He had never felt a baby kick in a woman’s belly before. He had to admit, it was pretty amazing.
Nick was never around Joanna when she was pregnant with Josslyn. He only came around after he found out he was truly Josslyn’s father, which was when she was about 5 weeks old. So this was new for him. Nick found himself smiling.
Joanna smiled. “Your son is kicking. He doesn’t want you to leave.” Joanna said softly.
Nick sighed and slowly dropped his hand from her belly.
While at the hospital, the doctor gave them the news that Joanna was pregnant with a boy. If the baby was truly Nick’s baby, it would be his first son. But Nick still didn’t think it was his child. The fact that Joanna just said ‘your son is kicking’ slightly annoyed him.
“I should go. Call me if you need anything.” Nick said frustrated with her once again. He thought he’d better leave now before things got out of hand.
Nick got into his car and turned his phone on. He saw that Sabrina had called and left him a message. He needed to hear her voice to make him feel better.
He listened to her voice mail:
“Hey baby…where are you? You didn’t call me………..Well. Im home. Call me whenever you get this message. Even if it is when you get off of work tonight. I need to hear your voice………I love you.”
Nick thought she sounded sad. He immediately began to dial her number.
----------------------
When they saw Nick and Joanna, they immediately stood up and walked toward them waiting to hear some good news about the baby.

Sabrina's Town Home
_ “So…I won’t see my friends anymore?” Cody asked Sabrina in a
sad tone as he laid in his bed under the covers.
“But you will always meet new friends. And…we can always come back and visit.” Sabrina reassured her son.
“Do I have to share a room with Nick’s little girl?”
“Nope. You will have your own room.” Sabrina smiled.
“Good.”
Sabrina giggled.
“Do you think grandpa would be happy that we’re leaving aunt Kelly here by herself?”
Sabrina sighed. It was still evident that Cody missed her father so much.
“Well…you know she has Derek.” Sabrina responded.
“Yeah, but uncle Derek is always doing his military thing.” Cody responded looking sad.
“Maybe this will be aunt Kelly’s chance to move with Derek and live on a military base. Wouldn’t that be cool?” Sabrina asked trying to cheer Cody up.
“Yeah.” He responded somberly. “Will Jermaine get to visit me in Gainesville too?” Cody asked thinking of Raven’s nephew, Jermaine.
Cody and Jermaine were the best of friends and had so much in common. Sabrina thought about Raven. She hadn’t even told her best friend the news yet. She can only imagine what Raven’s reaction was going to be.
“Of course! Im sure he would love to come visit. Did I tell you that our new home, has an in ground pool!”
Cody’s eyes lit up. “Really?”
“Yeah! Baby, you are going to absolutely love it! I promise.”
“You promise?”
“I promise.”
“If I don’t like it can we come back here in Atlanta?”
“If you don’t like it, I promise to make it work out to where you will like it.” Sabrina smiled as she ran her fingers thru his hair.
“What about Josh? I mean…dad.” Cody asked.
He was still having a hard time trying to re-connect with his biological father Josh.
“Well…Josh is just going to have to keep doing what he’s been doing. Keeping in touch.” Sabrina answered thinking about her conversation with Josh.
Josh was angry. He couldn't believe that as soon as he tried to get closer to Cody, she decided to up and leave. Sabrina never told him she got married. She didn't feel the need to do so.
Sabrina continued, “We’ll tell him where our new location will be so you guys can keep in touch.” “That’s cool.” Cody said sounding tired.
Sabrina pulled the covers further up over his body. “Why don’t you go on to sleep. We have plenty of time to talk about all of this stuff.”
“Yep…two weeks.” Cody smiled.
Sabrina smiled and kissed his forehead saying good night.
Moments later, Sabrina had took a shower feeling a little nauseous. At least this time, she didn’t throw up. After putting on a blue night shirt, Sabrina walked down stairs and pulled out a box of crackers, pickles and a jar of Nutella. She cut up the pickles and made a pickle cracker sandwich with the Nutella spread.
Sabrina carried her plate of pickle cracker sandwiches and sat down in the living room watching television. She couldn’t understand why she wasn’t tired. Just as she got comfortable on the sofa, her cell phone began ringing. She looked at the caller id. It was Nick.
Sabrina sighed as she picked up the phone. “I miss you so much.” Sabrina answered the phone. “Hey, baby, I miss you too…are you okay? I got your message.” Nick responded as he drove home.
“Yes. Im fine. Just a lot has happened.”
Nick thought to himself, ‘yea same here.’
Nick asked, “What happened?”
“The one person I thought would be happy for me is not.”
“Who?”
“Aunt Kelly. We kind of got into it.”
“Really?” Nick asked very surprised to hear of that.
“Yeah. And Cody…is sad. I feel bad for doing this to him, Nick.”
Nick gave Sabrina some comforting words to let her know that what she was doing was the right thing and she had nothing to be worried about. Sabrina thanked him for his kind words and then switch the subject to him.
“How’s your first day as VP at the job going?” Sabrina asked as she licked the nutella off of her finger.
Nick hesitated before responding. If he told her that he called out from his job…he would have to tell her why he called out. Which in return, he would have to tell her all about Joanna and their altercation. Nick didn’t want Sabrina to know anything about that because he didn’t want her to stress about anything. Nick decided to keep everything from her.
“Everything is good.” Nick finally responded.
Sabrina smiled. “That’s good. What does your office look like?”
Nick said a curse in his head. He had no idea what his office would look like.
“It’s pretty cool. Like a normal office.” Nick laughed nervously.
Sabrina sensed he was uncomfortable talking about it. She then thought about Joanna and Josslyn.
“How did things go with you and Joanna? Does she know now?”
“Uhm…yeah.” Nick hesitated.
Sabrina waited for him to continue. Instead she heard silence. Or what sounded like he was in a car. “Where are you? It sounds like you’re driving.”
Nick said a curse in his head again. “No..im just around some machinery stuff. So it sounds like im driving…I guess. That’s weird, huh.” Nick lied with a nervous laughter.
“Nick…are you okay? Should I let you go?” Sabrina asked sensing something wasn’t quite right with Nick.
“Uhm…well…why don’t I just call you when I get off.” Nick lied once again.
“What time will that be?”
“Around midnight.” Nick guessed since that’s when he usually got off of work.
“Okay. If I don’t answer…keep calling until I do.”
“I will.”
“I love you.”
“I love you too, Bri-bear.”
Sabrina smiled and ended the call.
Nick took a deep breath shaking his head. “What a day.” He thought to himself.
