Chapter 25
_ Sabrina called Nick’s cell phone for the 3rd time
to tell him that she was leaving back to Atlanta. She thought maybe he wanted
to see Jordan one last time and she hoped they could discuss when he wanted to
see Jordan again while she was there in Atlanta. Once again, his phone just
rung and rung with no answer. Sabrina sighed feeling angry and disappointed in
Nick. She couldn’t understand why he was so hot and cold with her. She thought
things were okay after their moment the other night when he helped with her
foot. She guessed she was totally wrong. She looked down at Jordan as she
cradled him in her arms. He was peacefully sucking on his pacifier. Just as
Kevin walked thru the door, Sabrina stood up from the sofa, and placed Jordan
in his car seat.
Kevin smiled and asked, “Is that everything?”
Sabrina finished tucking Jordan into his car seat. She then stood up straight and looked around the empty apartment. “Yep. I guess so.” Sabrina faintly smiled thinking about Nick.
“I’ll get Jordan.” Kevin smiled as he grabbed Jordan who was sucking on a pacifier in his sleep as he sat in his car seat.
Sabrina thanked him.
She then took off her sweat shirt exposing her black cami tank top, since it had gotten warm outside. Kevin couldn’t keep his eyes off of her. They both walked to her car in the parking lot. Kevin placed Jordan in the back seat however he struggled with the seat belt.
Sabrina giggled saying, “It’s okay. I can do it.”
Kevin laughed. “I guess I still have to get used to that.”
Sabrina laughed as she bent down into the car to put the seatbelt around Jordan’s car seat. Kevin stared at her butt as she bent over into the car. He stood very close to her as he stared down at her. When Sabrina was done, she backed up to be able to stand straight. She bumped into Kevin, slightly startling her because he was standing so close to her. The wind blew her hair into her face as she turned around.
“Oh! Sorry, Kev—“ Sabrina was caught off guard when Kevin immediately planted a kiss on her lips.
He groped her butt into his hands and suddenly became very aggressive with his kiss. Sabrina pushed him hard away from her.
“Kevin, stop! What are you doing?” Sabrina said in shock and anger as she wiped her lips.
Kevin smiled. “Im sorry. I couldn’t resist. Im going to miss you. I love you. I don’t want you to go.” Sabrina stood there in shock. “Kevin, no. Don’t do this, okay?”
“Don’t do what? I can’t help how I feel about you.” He began walking up to her again as if he wanted to kiss her.
Sabrina quickly extended her arm out, keeping him away from her. “Kevin…Im sorry. I told you before I only love you as a friend. I thank you so much for being there for me, but my feelings for you are nothing more than just a friend.”
Kevin looked disappointed. “But …why? Is it because im still going to be here in Florida while you go on to Atlanta? Are you afraid of a long distance relationship?”
“What? Relationship? Kevin…you know Im technically still married, right?”
Kevin chuckled. “Not for long. Just because you filed for divorce doesn’t mean you are officially divorced.”
Sabrina looked at Kevin as if he were crazy. “Kevin…no. Please don’t do this. We’re friends. That’s all. Okay?”
Kevin stared at her. “Can you actually say you've never had any feelings for me? Ever? Don’t lie…because I always could tell by the way you kissed me.”
“Kevin…we barely kiss anymore. A peck here and there means nothing. It meant nothing to me.”
Kevin didn’t respond.
“And when I kissed you a long time ago, I told you I was wrong, because I was still married to Nick. I am still married to Nick. I shouldn’t have kissed you. Im sorry.” Sabrina said firmly and closed the car door. She then walked around the car to get into the driver’s side.
“Okay, wait.” Kevin said following her around the car.
“I have to go.” Sabrina said opening her door.
“I know. Im sorry. When can I come visit you?”
“I don’t know…” Sabrina said now suddenly not wanting him to visit her.
“Okay…well, I will let you get settled in and everything and then I will be up as soon as possible. I’ve never been to Atlanta, maybe you can show me around.”
“Maybe…” Sabrina said with a faint smile.
For some reason she was suddenly creeped out by him. The look in his eye wasn’t a friendly look that she was used to.
“Okay baby, drive safe.” He leaned forward for a kiss and Sabrina leaned back to avoid his kiss. Kevin gave her a confused look wondering why she acted like she didn’t want to kiss him.
“I gotta go. See ya.” Sabrina said and quickly hopped into the car and closed the door. Kevin stood there and watched her drive off with a smirk on his face.

_ “Nicholas Lancaster?” A security guard announced forcing
Nick to jolt his eyes open.
Nick sat up from the hard flat mattress in his jail cell.
“You post bail. You’re outta here, buddy.” The guard said as he fumbled with his keys and opened the barred door.
“By who?” Nick asked with a frown.
Nick had called his mom, to let her know he was in jail but she never answered her phone. So he knew it couldn't be her. The guards would not allow him to use the phone again so he could call his father, which he never understood. Therefore Nick had been sitting in jail for the past two days.
“Some chick. Hell…it doesn’t matter, right? You’re finally going home.” The guard said looking like he didn’t care about the world.
Nick stepped out of his jail cell and followed the guard out to where he could check out and get his personal belongings together. Nick checked the contents of his belongings in a package they handed to him. “I had one hundred bucks in my wallet…where is it?”
The guard behind the window looked at Nick with a smug expression. “I don’t know…and its not my problem.”
Nick glared at the guard realizing that one of the staff stole his money. Nick smacked his teeth and snatched the rest of his things off the counter walking away.
Nick walked thru the heavy metal doors and saw Ariana standing there with her arms folded in front of her chest. Nick huffed thinking ‘great’. He wasn’t in the mood to see her. He just wanted to go home and take a shower.
“You? You bailed me out?”
“Yeah.” Ariana said softly as she stared at him as he walked closer to her.
As Nick approached her, he noticed her bruised eye that she tried to hide with her hair. Her bottom lip had two stitches, and she wore a band aid above her brow. She looked like she was in a bad fight.
“Are you alright? What happened to you?”
“Joanna is what happened to me.” Ariana replied flatly.
Nick suddenly remembered that her and Joanna had gotten into a fight. It was obvious Joanna had won the fight in comparison to their wounds.
“Come on…I’ll take you home. We need to talk.” Ariana stated.
Nick watched her walk away before reluctantly following her to her car.
Once in the car, Nick looked over at her. “I need to go home to my mom’s house. We can talk there…if you want.”
“No.”
“Well, can you take me to my car? It’s over on—“
“No, Nick. Im just going to take you to my place first. I have to show you something.”
Nick only stared at her. For some reason, she looked unstable. Nick remained silent the rest of the way toward her apartment.
Nick followed her into her apartment. Once he stepped in, Ariana quickly shut and locked the door. Nick watched her, unsure what she was up to. She walked passed him without looking at him.
“I’ll get you some clothes and you can take a shower.”
“Why don’t you just tell me whatever it is you need to tell me and I can go home and shower.” Nick suggested as he watched her move about.
“Nick, please. Just do what I say…please.” Ariana said looking up at him with sad eyes. “Okay? Please?”
Nick felt bad for her. He had never seen her in this state before. He felt bad that Joanna was the one who messed her up when they were fighting.
“Alright. Fine.” Nick said reluctantly.
Nick took his belongings with him toward the bathroom when Ariana stopped him.
“I’ll take that.” She gestured to his package of belongings which included his cell phone.
“Nah, I got it.”
“Nick…give them to me. Please.” Ariana demanded.
Nick looked at her suspiciously. “What’s up with you? You’re acting weird.”
“I bailed you out. You owe me. Your girlfriend beat my ass…you owe me. Just do as I say…please.” Ariana held her hand out wanting Nick to give her the package.
“You’re up to something. I wish you would just come out with it.” Nick said as he handed her his package of belongings. “I know what I have…don’t do anything stupid.” Nick said firmly to her. Ariana smiled and walked away.

_ Nick proceeded to take a shower. He thought about Sabrina.
He knew by now she was in Atlanta. He hated he wasn’t able to talk to her one
last time before she left. He then thought about Joanna. The bitch. He couldn’t
believe after bailing her out, she let him stay in jail. He needed to know what
happened between her and Ariana. He was going to get an answer that night.
Nick turned the shower water off and pulled the shower curtain back. He jumped when he saw Ariana standing there. Nick mumbled a curse as he quickly covered his male genitals with his hands. Ariana smiled seeing him naked and wet as she held out a towel for him. Nick snatched the towel away from her and immediately wrapped the towel around his waist.
Ariana bit her lower lip as she continued to admire his muscular physique dripping wet. She couldn’t understand how a man could look so good, yet she never experienced him sexually. She wanted to experience him sexually so badly. It was her plans to do so, and she knew it would happen one day soon.
“Do you mind?” she heard Nick say, snapping her out of her thoughts.
She stared at his chest watching water droplets drip down and around his hard nipples. “Sorry…I just happened to see what I like.” She gazed up into his eyes as she smiled. “I’ll go get those clothes for you.”
Moments later Nick walked out of the bathroom wearing the t-shirt and sweat pants she had given him. She didn’t have any boxers or briefs available for him so he had to go commando.
“I was going to cook something for you, but I wasn’t sure what you wanted. I know you’re hungry. What would you like? I have—“
“Ariana, will you quit the bullshit! What the hell is going on?” Nick said as he raised his voice in frustration.
“Okay, chill out!” Ariana said after being slightly startled from him raising his voice. “Relax. Do you need some pills or something to calm your nerves? I have some for you.”
“No, dammit! Im not taking that anymore. What happened with you and Joanna, huh? Why does everybody think you and I are fucking? Huh? What are you telling people?” Nick said angrily. “Alright! Alright! I can’t take it when you yell at me like that.” Ariana said walking passed him into her small dinning room.
She sat down at the table and told Nick what happened between her and Joanna.
“I ran into Joanna at the gas station. I don’t know what she was doing on my side of town. I thought I had done everything she asked me to do. You see, Nick…Joanna wanted to make sure you and Sabrina would break up. So she came up with this plan. A plan to make sure Sabrina would cheat on you and you to get closer to her. When I told her that Sabrina was going to be working at my job, she thought I should find some guy to charm his way into her heart. It wasn’t hard when I saw Kevin Henderson and the way he stared at Sabrina thru out the day. He was the obvious choice. So I …gave Kevin the motivation to push up on her, telling him lies about how much Sabrina secretly liked him.”
Nick narrowed his eyes at her. “You did what?!” Nick said angrily.
“Wait…please…let me finish before you get angry with me.” Ariana quickly added. She then continued, “Who knew they would really click and really get into each other. I mean, when I started following them. She was all over him. He was all over her. It was like a match made in heaven. Kevin’s really in love with her. I mean…really. I personally think she is too but she’s just confused. Nick, Im sorry, but Sabrina is really falling for him. She filed for divorce. She doesn’t want to be with you anymore. Kevin said she’s going to give him all the information of where she will be so he can eventually move up to Atlanta with her. Im sorry to be the one to tell you this.” Ariana paused to see his reaction.
Nick looked down as he clenched his jaw muscles. He remained silent waiting for her to continue.
Ariana continued, “Joanna took things one step further. But before I tell you that…let me tell you how your girl just beat my ass. Yes, I admit…I got my ass whooped. When I saw her at the gas station, she approached me. She was like, ‘come here let me ask you a question. Have you been talking to Nick?’ And she asked me as if she already knew something I didn’t know. I got nervous. I didn’t want to lie anymore. So … I told her yes. I told her I never stopped talking to you since back in college. She became furious in an instant. She started shoving me. I got angry because I was tired of her pushing me around and telling me what to do. So I said, ‘What’s wrong? Are you mad that Nick still won’t come to you but he comes to me when he needs me?’ Oh, geez…why did I say that? I knew her kids were with her because I saw Josslyn and baby Nicky in the backseat, so I figured I could say anything I wanted because she wasn’t going to do shit. The next thing I knew…she decked me in the eye. I fell back and she pounced on me. We were rolling on the ground just pulling hair. I swear I was trying to gouge her fucking eyes out. Then some guy came along and pulled Jo off of me. The police must have been right down the street or something because when Jo tried to drive away, the police were right there to stop her. Now I have to call out from work tomorrow because I am too ashamed to walk in there looking like a weak battered girl.”
Nick remained silent as he continued to stare at her.
Ariana continued, “So…now, Im just like, fuck Joanna. Im disposing all of her secrets for making me feel ashamed to walk around in my own skin.”
Ariana got up from the table and walked to a small desk table and pulled out a drawer. She picked up an envelope and walked back over toward the table where Nick was still sitting. She slid the envelope over to Nick.
Nick looked at her suspiciously. “What is this?”
Ariana took her seat and quietly said, “Open it.”
Nick opened the envelope. He pulled out a few sheets of paper. The forms looked familiar. It was something he had seen before. It was the same form that proved he was the biological father of baby Nicky. Nick looked up at Ariana with a confused expression. He looked back down at the forms and read the same thing he read when he opened his mail to find out that baby Nicky was 99.99998% his biological son. It was the same letter head just as before. There were several forms in the envelope that read the same exact thing. Nick raised his eyes back up to Ariana and frowned.
“What…did Joanna give you copies of the DNA results for Nicky? I mean…what is this?”
Ariana took a deep breath and smacked her teeth. “No, Nick. I made those up.”
Nick was confused. He furrowed his brows as he continued to stare at her.
“Nick…what you received in the mail, to tell you that baby Nicky is yours…was fake. I made it. You do realize I used to work at the hospital, remember? I still had those letter heads form years ago. You’re not baby Nicky’s father. I created those forms…it was all in the plan to keep you close to Joanna.” Ariana admitted shamefully as she sat back in her chair lowering her eyes down to her hands on the table.
It took Nick a while to register what she was saying. He couldn’t believe his ears. He looked back down at the forms in his hand. They looked so real. The same as when he read the results for his daughter Josslyn. Nick became furious as he thought about Joanna. ‘That bitch.’ Nick thought. He raised his eyes up to Ariana glaring at her.
“You’re lying.” Nick said thru his teeth in a calm manner.
Ariana raised her head to look back into Nick’s angry eyes. She shook her head no. “No…I swear, Nick. Im telling you, Joanna is crazy. I don’t know who’s baby that is, but its not yours.”
“How did it get in my mailbox?” Nick interrogated her.
“I put it in there. Nick, Joanna was constantly riding over to your house to check your mail while you were working. She took out the real results the DNA clinic mailed to you. She knew that baby wasn’t yours so she made sure you didn’t get the real results. She made me make up the fake results. For the correct format, we used the results from Josslyn’s test results from years ago. That crazy bitch kept the results all of these years. She framed that crap.”
Nick sat up in his chair and leaned forward. He felt like his blood pressure was about to hit the roof because he was so angry. “Wait….Joss is my child. I know she is…right?”
“Oh yea…she’s yours. That was real. That’s what im saying. We took the real DNA results and formatted the same way so it looked real for baby Nicky’s results. I have the letter heads from the hospital where I used to work. It was all really simple, actually.”
Nick immediately shot up from his chair and threw the papers across the room in anger forcing Ariana to jump in fear. Nick paced the floor thinking about Joanna and her lies. How could she do that to him? How could she allow him to fall in love with a child that wasn’t even his. Because of her, Sabrina couldn’t accept that fact that he had another child with her when in actuality, that child is not even his.
Nick glared at Ariana. He wanted to choke her. He wanted to do something to her to hurt her as much as she had hurt him. He needed to hit something to let out his aggression and anger. He walked into the kitchen and punched one of her wooden cabinets hard as he said a curse, making a dent in her cabinet. Ariana jumped. She hopped up from her chair not sure what Nick was going to do. He looked at Ariana and charged toward her. Ariana ran to her front door in fear. Nick caught up to her and slammed the door shut just as she was about to open it.
He barricaded her against the door as he glared down at her in anger. Ariana was trembling in fear unsure what he was capable of as she looked up at him and began to tear up.
“Im sorry…Nick…I am so sorry.”
“Listen to me you dumb, stupid bitch…if you’re lying to me, I swear to –“
“Im not! I swear, Nick. I would never lie to you. I love you! Joanna is crazy. She would do anything to get you away from Sabrina and be with her. Look what she did to me!” Ariana sobbed as she begged for Nick’s forgiveness. “Im so sorry…please…don’t hate me. Im telling you this, because I love you, Nick. I always have. Joanna doesn’t deserve you…and Sabrina sure as hell doesn’t deserve you because she loves Kevin. She was just stringing you along. Im the only one who has ever cared for you! I’ve been there for you when you needed me! I love you, Nick!”
Nick pounded his fists against the door as he shouted at her. “Shut-up!”
Ariana jumped in fear allowing a short shriek to escape her lips as she continued to cry.
Nick backed away from her and spoke in a low husky voice, “Take me home…now.” Nick walked back over to the table and gathered his things calmly as he kept a frown on his face.
Ariana quietly agreed as tears continued to fall down her face.
Ariana pulled up into Nick’s mother, Sandra, driveway. She looked over at Nick with tears in her eyes. “Nick, Im sorry. Please forgive me. I love you.”
Nick slowly looked over at Ariana with a stoned face expression. “Don’t ever talk to me again. If you see me in the street, keep walking. I don’t like you, I don’t love you, and I will never fucking love you. Why don’t you just go jump off a fucking bridge and make everybody happy.” Nick stated in a low cold tone.
Nick grabbed the car door handle and calmly got out of her car. Ariana sobbed as she watched Nick walk away from her into his mother’s house.

_
“MOM!” Nick yelled as he marched into her house walking
toward the bedroom he had been sleeping in.
He quickly changed out of the clothes Ariana had given him and put on his clothes. He threw on his boxers, and a pair of blue jeans.
“MOM!” Nick called out for her again.
Sandra came rushing into his room just in time for her to see him put his black t-shirt on over his head. “Where have you been?! I have been worried sick about you!” Sandra said holding a basket full of laundry clothes in her hands.
“I was in jail.” Nick responded to her as he looked for his socks.
“In jail?! Nicholas what is going on with you? I called your father because I didn’t know if you went back to D.C. or not! Your father told me about your drug addiction. Nicholas, tell me you weren’t in jail for selling drugs?!” Sandra said as she frowned at him watching him move about.
“No, mom. Joanna put me in jail.”
“What?” Sandra said in shock and giving him a puzzled expression.
Nick stopped as he sat on the bed and looked up at his mom with tears in his eyes. “Nicky is not my son.”
“Wh—what?”
“That bitch Joanna lied to me. Joanna got into a fight with this dumb ass girl, putting Joss and Nicky in danger. She got put in jail and she could have had the kids taken away by the state! I bailed her out and she’s mad at me for no reason and starts hitting me! Im trying to stop her and I get put in jail by the police.” Nick said angrily now putting his shoes on.
“Whoa…wait a minute, wait a minute!” Sandra said dropping the clothes basket in her hand down to the floor. She walked up to Nick trying to calm him down. “Sweetie, what are you saying?” “Nicky is not your grandchild, mom. Joanna lied.” Nick said as he stared up into his mother’s eyes. “How do you know? You saw the results. The DNA results said you are his father!” Sandra said in disbelief.
“It was all a lie, mom!” Nick shouted in frustration. Nick hopped up and started to walk pass her. “I need your car keys.”
“What? Wait, Nicholas honey, where is your car? What are you about to do?”
“Im going to get my child. I’ll be damned if that bitch keeps my child. She’s crazy.”
“No, wait! You are not in the condition to go anywhere right now.”
“Give me your keys, mom, please!” Nick begged her with anger in his eyes.
“I will not! Sit down!” Sandra yelled at him.
Nick was so angry he walked over toward the dresser in the room and picked it up slamming it down making a loud growling noise. Once he slammed the dresser back down several items were knocked off. He marched over to his bed and sat on the bed and began sobbing in anger. He couldn’t believe what was happening and how conniving Joanna was in destroying his life.
Sandra had placed her hand over heart when she saw how angry her son was. Not only was she startled to see him so upset, but her heart broke for her son. When she saw him bury his head into his hands as he leaned forward while sitting on the bed and begin crying, she became teary eyed herself. She couldn’t remember the last time she saw her son cry.
She slowly walked up to him and whispered in a comforting tone, “Okay…it’s okay sweetie. Everything’s going to be alright.” She lightly ran her fingers thru his curls as she stepped up to him. Nick raised his head and wrapped his arms around his mother’s waist and hugged her as he cried.
“I know sweetie…I know. Let it out. Let out your frustration.” Sandra said as tears ran down her cheek feeling heartbreak to hear her son sob. She leaned down and embraced her son tightly in comfort.

Chapter 26 -- One Week Later
Casey Novak
_ “Thank you, Casey. I owe you big for this.” Sandra said as
she stood up and shook the lawyer’s hand with a smile.
Nick stood up next to his mother and shook the lawyer’s hand as well.
Casey Novak was the lawyer who was going to help Nick get full custody of his daughter Josslyn. Casey smiled at her friend Sandra and her friend's son, Nick.
“Anytime. Im sorry you have to go thru this. But it shouldn’t be a problem. If Joanna’s actions are really what you say they are, and putting your child in danger…it should be a walk in the park.”
“We hope so.” Sandra said.
“Thanks again.” Nick said softly with a faint smile as he followed his mother out of Casey Novak’s office.
“I will see you all next week.”
Sandra and Nick both agreed.
Sandra linked her arm into Nick’s arm as they walked to the parking lot. She looked up at her son. “Are you okay?”
Nick smiled as he looked at his mother. “Yep. Thanks mom.” He wrapped his arm around her shoulder pulling her close into him as they walked.
“No problem. Anything for my baby.” She smiled.
“Let’s go get your car from the shop.”
Nick agreed.
While Nick’s car was left stranded on the road, his car was vandalized. He had to take it to the shop to get it fixed. Just another problem caused by Joanna. Nick never thought he could hate someone as much as he hated Joanna. The worst part was that she was the mother of his child. He felt sorry for baby Nicky. Nick wanted to see if he could get custody of Nicky as well, because he truly felt Joanna was too unstable to have any kids. But since he was never married to Joanna, nor the biological father of Nicky, there was nothing Nick could do unless, Joanna signed over her parental rights.
Sandra prevented Nick to go over to Joanna’s place. She wanted Joanna to continue to believe that Nick was still in jail.
The attorney Casey Novak was going to set up another paternity test to have the proof that Nick was not Nicky’s biological father. He would know on their next visit to her office. Casey was going to do all the contact with Joanna. Joanna would be hit with a custody order and paternity test all in one. Sandra and Nick knew she would fly off the handle in anger. Sandra didn’t want Nick to be around. With that, she suggested that he go to Atlanta and visit his real son, Jordan. Nick was surprised by her suggestion. Sandra realized how much he loved Sabrina, even though she felt like Sabrina was not good enough for her son. As what any mother may feel about their son.
Sandra waited for Nick to come out of the car shop to let her know that his car was fixed. Nick walked outside and approached his mother as she stood by her car with her arms folded.
“Well?” she asked as she watched him approach her.
Nick smiled. “It’s ready.”
“Good.” Sandra smirked at him. She continued, “Have you called Sabrina yet?”
“No.”
“So what are you going to do? Surprise her?”
Nick took a deep breath as he looked around their surroundings as the wind blew a couple of leaves across the pavement. He then lowered his eyes back to his mother’s eyes.
“Not really. I called her aunt, Kelly since Brin wasn’t returning any of my calls. Kelly said that if I was going to come, I should just come. So I have a feeling that she was going to tell Brin.”
Sandra shook her head slightly. “You still love her, huh?”
Nick swung his arms not sure how to answer that question. “Yeah, I do. But…she doesn’t love me, so…it’s whatever. I already signed the divorce papers. Im just going to give her the papers, and I just want to see my son.”
Sandra stared at her son. “I just don’t want you going up there and getting your feelings hurt anymore. Im glad you signed the papers. I think it’s time you moved on. What about that nice girl you told me about in D.C.? What’s her name…?”
“Who, Diana?”
“Yes! Like you said…she has no kids, never been married—“
“Mom…no.” Nick quickly interrupted his mother with a smirk.
“No?”
“No.” Nick simply stated. He then added, “Im not trying to be in a relationship. It’s all about me and my kids.”
Sandra couldn’t help but smile at her handsome son. She raised her hands up to his cheeks and pinched both sides of his cheeks. “My son is finally being the man I knew I could raise you to be.” Nick laughed as he playfully moved her hands away from his cheeks. “Mom, cut it out.”
Sandra laughed. “Come here. I love you, Nicholas.” Sandra said as she hugged him.
Nick welcomed her embrace. “I love you too.”
“Drive safe, honey.”
Nick agreed and walked back toward his car.

-------------------------
_ Sabrina and Cody walked into their small two bedroom
apartment in Atlanta. Her aunt Kelly was sitting on the sofa watching television as she
held Jordan in her arms. Sabrina and Cody stopped to look at each other when
they saw Kelly crying.
“Aunt Kelly what’s wrong?” Cody asked.
Kelly laughed thru her tears as she turned the volume down on the television. “I just watched the movie, Steel Magnolias, for the 10th time in my life, and this movie still gets me to cry.” Sabrina laughed as she rolled her eyes.
Kelly looked up at them. “So how was the workout?”
“Fun! Can I hold him?” Cody asked referring to Jordan. “Uh..go take a shower first, Cody.” Sabrina said as she wiped her forehead of perspiration with her towel.
“Okay.” Cody rushed off to his bedroom.
Sabrina walked up to Kelly and saw Jordan with his eyes wide open. “Hey mommy’s big boy.” Sabrina smiled speaking cutely to Jordan. She pretended to tickle him and Jordan gave her a half smile. Sabrina and Kelly laughed at the baby’s cuteness. “He smiled at me. Three weeks old and he’s smiling at me. I love it!” Sabrina said cheerfully. “Thanks for watching him while I exercised.”
“No problem. I don’t know why you’re working out anyway. I love your new figure. Im slightly jealous.”
“What! Whatever, aunt Kelly I think you’re absolutely beautiful.”
“Well…let’s hope that’s still true after I have my baby.” Sabrina looked at her aunt suspiciously. Kelly smiled at Sabrina.
“No way…” Sabrina said with a smirk.
Kelly nodded yes.
“You’re pregnant?” Sabrina asked with a broad smile.
Kelly started to tear up again. “I am!”
Sabrina cheered with excitement and hugged her aunt. “Oh my gosh, congratulations aunt Kelly! I am so happy for you and Derek! Does he know yet?”
“No, not yet. I was going to tell him tonight.”
“That is awesome! You’re going to make an awesome mom! I know that because…ever since my mom passed…I always looked up to you like a mother.”
“Aww, sweetie. I love you.” Kelly said as a tear dropped down her cheek.
“I love you too.”
They embraced each other while Jordan cooed making them both laugh.
“Im gonna take a shower, and then I will take Jordan off your hands.”
“Take your time. Im enjoying my time with him.” Kelly said looking down at Jordan.
Sabrina turned to walk into her bedroom.
“Oh! Brin…Josh called. He said he was going to pick up Cody in a few hours. Something about his job.”
“Oh okay. That figures. Thanks.” Sabrina rolled her eyes slightly. She turned to walk on into her bedroom.
“Oh and…” Kelly said making her stop once again. “Nick called me.”
Sabrina slowly backed up and gave her aunt a shocked look. “He called you?”
“Yeah. He said you haven’t been returning his calls.”
“What did he want?”
“He wants to see Jordan. I told him if he wants to come to just come. He said he had the divorce papers for you too.”
Sabrina suddenly became sad. “Oh…okay. Well…when is he coming?”
Kelly shrugged her shoulders. “I don’t know. He didn’t say.”
“Oh.” Sabrina simply stated thinking about Nick. “Thanks.” Sabrina sadly walked into her bedroom to take her shower.
Later that night, Cody was packed and ready to go. Josh had called to say that he was on his way. Cody was sitting on the sofa holding Jordan while Sabrina was preparing Jordan’s bottles. There was a knock on the door.
“Mom, I think that’s my dad!” Cody yelled from in the living room.
“Okay. Don’t move, I’ll get it.” Sabrina dried her hands and walked to the door.
She didn’t bother to look thru the peep hole. She freely opened the door. When she opened the door, she saw Josh standing there with another familiar face. Kevin. Sabrina looked at the two in shock.
Kevin smiled flashing his dimples.
“I bumped into your friend…” Josh said trying to remember Kevin’s name.
Kevin placed his hand on Josh’s shoulder and smiled, “Kevin. Kevin’s the name.”
Josh looked at Kevin with a weird expression. “Yeah. Kevin.”
“Kevin, what are you doing here?” Sabrina frowned.
“Aunt Kelly what’s wrong?” Cody asked.

Josh & Kevin
_ “Hey dad!” Cody said as he got up from the sofa holding
Jordan.
“Surprise!” Kevin smiled flashing his dimples.
Sabrina looked back at Cody and saw him struggling to hold Jordan. She quickly took Jordan from Cody as Kevin freely walked into her apartment looking around. Josh reluctantly followed as he made a few steps into Sabrina’s apartment.
“Cody! What’s up buddy!” Cody only looked at Kevin for a moment and quietly said, “Hey.”
“Cody, get your things, and let’s go.” Josh said without a smile. He then gave Sabrina a disappointed look.
Kevin looked around her apartment, “This is great. It’s a downsize from your house, but I like it.” Kevin said in joking manner.
Sabrina laughed lightly still not sure how he found out where she lived. She looked at Josh. “Do you know Kevin?”
“Nope.” Josh said firmly.
Sabrina thought Josh looked upset.
Kevin turned and walked up to Sabrina and gave her a kiss on the cheek. “So good to see you beautiful.” Sabrina slightly moved away not wanting him to kiss her.
“Im ready!” Cody said as he walked into the living room.
“Okay…be good, okay?” Sabrina said to Cody as she gave him a hug.”
“I will.” Cody said sweetly. He then pulled on Sabrina so she could lower Jordan down to his level so he could kiss his cheek. “See ya in a few days baby brother. Be good, buddy.”
Josh faintly smiled at Cody.
Cody then turned to Josh. “Ready?”
“Yeah…let’s go.” Josh gave Sabrina one last glare and turned to follow his son out of the door. Sabrina looked at Kevin saying, “I’ll be back. Im going to walk them out.”
“Oh, well give me Jordan. I’ll hold him while you go outside.” Kevin said taking Jordan from her arms.
“No, it’s okay… I got him.” Sabrina protested.
“Babe, I got him.” Kevin forced Jordan into his arms.
Sabrina reluctantly allowed Kevin to take him.
Sabrina then rushed out behind Cody and Josh.
Sabrina walked out to see Josh shutting the door for Cody inside his car.
“Hey..” Sabrina said to Josh.
“Who is that, Brin? What the hell is going on with you? Are you bringing all kinds of men around my son? Do you want your son to see how much of a whore you are?” Josh said angrily in a hush tone so Cody couldn’t hear them.
Sabrina frowned. “What? No! Where did you meet him at?”
“I pulled into the parking lot, and he pulled in behind me. He knew my name like he’s been knowing me for a life time. I don’t know that dude. I thought you were married to a guy named Nick?”
“He followed you?” Sabrina asked confused.
“I don’t know, you tell me. Just do me a favor and keep all your men out of sight from my son. I would hate for him to know how much of a whore, my cousin Zack said you have always been.”
Before Sabrina knew it, she slapped Josh’s face hard and quickly walked away from him.
Josh only glared at Sabrina as she walked away from him.
Sabrina passed Cody in the car, and forced a smile on her face and waved to him, blowing a kiss. Cody smiled and waved back. Josh continued to glare at her as he watched her go back up to her apartment.
Sabrina walked back into her apartment to see Kevin pacing the floor trying to calm Jordan from crying. Sabrina immediately took Jordan away from him.
“How did you know where I live?” Sabrina asked with annoyance.
Kevin smiled. “Is there a problem with me being here?”
“Yeah…you weren’t invited, Kevin.” Sabrina said as she adjusted Jordan in her arms and walked toward her kitchen.
“Well, it’s too late, Sabrina. I drove all of this way to see you and Jordan. What can I say, Im attached to the little dude. I feel like he’s mine.” Kevin chuckled.
Sabrina frowned. “What?”
Kevin laughed. “Baby, relax. Im joking. Well…kind of.” He smiled as he walked up behind her and placed his hands on her hips.
“Kevin stop.” Sabrina said as she moved away from him. “I think you better leave.”
Kevin’s smile slowly faded. “What are you talking about? I came here to see you two.”
“Well…Im sorry you came this far. You really should have called.” Sabrina said as she attempted to prepare a bottle for Jordan with one hand.
“You’re kicking me out? I have nowhere to go.”
Sabrina began bouncing Jordan in her arms trying to calm him down from his crying. “Then maybe you should get a hotel.” Sabrina said annoyed.
“Let me have him. He’s used to me…” Kevin smiled.
Sabrina frowned at Kevin. “No. Just…leave, okay?” Sabrina finally got the bottle ready for Jordan.
She adjusted him and placed the bottle into his mouth. She then walked passed Kevin out of the kitchen and into her living room.
“What is your problem?” Kevin asked raising his voice. “Should I have brought you more flowers or something?” Kevin said walking into her living room watching her every move.
“Kevin…it’s just a little weird that you found out where I lived and then just show up. Im sorry…but that’s a little creepy.” Sabrina admitted.
“Creepy? So now Im creepy? The man you love, is creepy? Well that’s not going to work for our relationship, you know.” Kevin said getting upset.
Sabrina started to feel uneasy. She didn’t feel safe with it just being her and the baby alone with him. She almost wished Josh and Cody hadn’t left.
“Love? Kevin…I have told you many times…I don’t love you like that.” Sabrina stood up and walked toward her door and opened it. “Im sorry Kevin, but you really should leave. I don’t feel comfortable with you here.”
Kevin placed his hands on his waist. “Are you kidding me? Okay…time out. Let’s talk, alright?” Kevin said walking up to her and closing the door shut.
Sabrina slowly backed away feeling nervous and scared.
“Please…let’s have a seat, alright?” Kevin said once again.
Sabrina only stared into his eyes not sure what he was up to.
Kevin smiled flashing his dimples. “Sabrina…it’s okay. Im not going to hurt you.”
Sabrina held Jordan close to her chest as she fed him his bottle. She sat down and noticed Jordan didn’t want any more from his bottle. She took the bottle away from him and began patting his back as she placed him up to her shoulder. Kevin sat close next to her. He wrapped his arm around her.
Sabrina sat up. “Kevin, please.” She said wanting him to stop.
“I can’t believe you’re treating me like this after I’ve came so far just to see you. You come up here to Atlanta and you act like this? Have you met someone or something?”
“Even if I did, it’s none of your business.” Sabrina said with frustration.
Kevin chuckled as he gazed at Sabrina. “You are so beautiful. I love it when that latina attitude spice comes from you. It’s so hella sexy.”
Sabrina heard Jordan burp. She quickly stood up and placed him in a small swing. She then gestured to the door while looking at Kevin.
“You have to go.” Kevin looked up at her in shock.
“You must be expecting someone?” Kevin smirked.

_ At that moment, someone knocked on her door.
Kevin’s smile broaden. “And the plot thickens.” Kevin stood up. “Allow me.” Kevin rushed to the door.
“No, Kevin, stop!” Sabrina rushed behind him, but she was too late.
Kevin had yanked the door open to see Nick standing on the other side of the door. Nick looked up to see Kevin with Sabrina standing beside him.
“Nick!” Sabrina said shocked.
Kevin smiled.
Nick rolled his eyes at the thought of Kevin being there. He assumed it was true, that Kevin moved to Atlanta with her.
“Hey buddy! Come in why don’t you?” Kevin said happily.
Nick glared at Sabrina. “Actually…since you’re busy…I would rather just see my son. I know Kelly told you I was coming.”
“Yeah, but I didn’t know when.” Sabrina said feeling flustered.
“Come in, buddy. No need to stand outside. Come in.” Kevin smiled.
“Shut-up.” Nick said firmly with calm.
“Oh…aren’t we a little on the edgy side.” Kevin smirked.
Nick rubbed his fingers thru his hair trying to calm down and not get angry. He looked at Sabrina. “You know what…never mind. How about I just come back tomorrow. It would be great if I could just spend the day with him. So, do you think you can pack his things up for me?”
“Well, wait a minute. You can’t just come here demanding stuff.” Sabrina replied with a slight attitude.
“Yeah…that’s not nice.” Kevin added.
“Kevin, shut-up.” Sabrina said with frustration.
Nick took a deep breath. He dug in his back pocket and handed Sabrina a packet. “Here. I’ll send you a text message. Let me know if you change your mind about me coming to see my son. But I am coming back, because I have the right to see him.” Nick said coldly and walked away.
“No, Nick, wait!” Sabrina said pushing past Kevin to pull on Nick’s arm. She looked back at Kevin, saying, “Kevin, you leave. Nick, you stay.”
“What? Why do I have to leave?” Kevin asked getting upset.
“Because I never wanted you here in the first place. So, you have to go!” Sabrina responded with a frown.
Nick looked at Sabrina and then looked at Kevin realizing something wasn’t right between the two.
“I don’t have anywhere to go. I told you…Im not leaving.”
Nick stepped up to Kevin as if challenging him. “She said leave. I think you should leave.” Nick said firmly in a deep low tone.
Kevin looked at Nick slightly intimidated by his stature. He took a deep breath. He then looked at Sabrina who was avoiding everyone’s eye contact. Kevin started to walk away. He stopped in front of Sabrina and attempted to lean forward and kiss her.
Nick immediately pushed him away. In a sudden instinct, Nick drew his fist back and punched him in the nose forcing Kevin to fall backwards to the ground.
“Nicholas!” Sabrina shouted in disbelief that he punched Kevin.
Nick started to pounce on him and pummel the way he had always wanted to, yet when he saw Sabrina quickly bend down to check on Kevin to see if he was alright, Nick realized it wasn’t worth it.
Kevin laid out on the ground groaning in pain as he brought his hand up to his bleeding nose.
“Oh my God, Kevin you’re bleeding.” Sabrina said with concern.
“I think my nose is broken.” Kevin complained.
Sabrina looked up at Nick and frowned. “Nick, are you crazy?!” Sabrina then tried to help Kevin up from the ground.
Nick huffed and simply walked away toward his car. That didn’t turn out the way he would have wanted, but he couldn’t take the fact that Sabrina was taking up for another man. That man being Kevin.
Sabrina escorted Kevin back into her apartment. Blood was dripping from his nose. She helped to clean him up.
“I can’t believe this. Im pressing charges.” Kevin responded as he took a towel from Sabrina to stop his nose from bleeding.
“No, Kevin, don’t do that.”
“He broke my nose!” Kevin said upset as he looked at his nose in the mirror of her bathroom.
“He didn’t mean to. He’s just going thru the some things.” Sabrina said running her fingers thru her hair as she looked at Kevin’s reflection in the mirror.
His nose was turning colors. She started to believe that Nick probably did break his nose. “Do you need me to take you to the hospital or something?” Sabrina asked feeling bad for him.
Kevin looked at Sabrina thru the mirror’s reflection. “You’d do that for me?”
“Well…I’d tell you to just go, but I know you don’t know how to get there.” Sabrina smirked.
Kevin chuckled.
“I’ll go get Jordan ready.” Sabrina walked out of the bathroom.
-----------------------------
It was early the next morning at 7:30am when Sabrina heard Jordan crying as he laid in his crib. Sabrina got up from her bed and walked over toward Jordan.
“Aww…good morning sweetie. You didn’t sleep well, huh? Only three hours of sleep? Not good for you and me.” Sabrina said tiredly as she picked him up.
She then realized his diapers needed to be changed. When she changed his diaper she carried him into the kitchen so she could get his bottle. On her way to the kitchen she saw Kevin lying on her sofa. She rolled her eyes, realizing he was still there. She really wanted him to leave... now.
Once she prepared Jordan’s bottle she stuck it into his mouth and walked into the living room to wake Kevin up. He was snoring loudly with a bandage covering his nose. The ER doctor said his nose was broken. Sabrina tapped Kevin’s foot to wake him.
“Kevin, its time to get up. You have to go.”
Kevin jolted out of his sleep. He then looked up and saw Sabrina holding Jordan. Her hair was tossed over to the side, and she wore a purple night shirt down to her mid thighs. Kevin thought she looked so sexy. He smiled as he stared at her.
“Good morning gorgeous.”
“Kevin, you really need to go.”
“Alright…fine.” Kevin said as he slowly got up from the sofa.
An hour or so later, Kevin was dressed and was ready to leave out of her apartment. Jordan was sitting in a small bouncy chair while Sabrina was ready to walk him out.
“Thank you for allowing me to stay last night.” Kevin said as he walked toward her door.
“Thank you for not pressing charges against Nick.” Sabrina added as she flipped her hair behind her shoulder.
“A kiss before I go?” Kevin pleaded.
Sabrina folded her arms in front of her chest. “No, I don’t think so.”
“Oh…shot down.” Kevin teased himself.
Sabrina snickered.
“Alright. I probably shouldn’t anyway when my nose is so messed up.”
Sabrina shrugged her shoulders not sure what to say to him next.
“I’ll call next time.”
Sabrina smiled, “Thanks.”
At that, Kevin walked out of her apartment.
As soon as Sabrina closed her door, she heard her cell phone beep indicating she had a text message. Sabrina sat on her sofa next to Jordan who just stared at her. Sabrina looked at the text message. It was from Nick.
|| What time should I get Jordan? ||
Sabrina looked on the table and saw the divorce papers. She didn’t know how to respond to Nick right at that moment. Instead of responding, she picked up the divorce papers and looked thru it. She noticed he signed every page, except one page in the middle which spoke about their child. Sabrina smacked her teeth. She then picked up her phone and responded to his text message.
|| You just need to come over & sign ALL divorce papers. Then we can talk abt u

Within the next few seconds, Nick responded, || Yeah whatever. B there by 10 ||
Sabrina looked at the time and saw that it was almost 9am. She responded:
|| Make it 11 ||
Sabrina hopped up from the sofa and picked up Jordan while he sat in his chair. She took him in her bathroom so she could take a shower.
About 10 minutes later, Sabrina hopped out of the shower and quickly wrapped her towel around her wet body and had to tend to Jordan since he was crying. Sabrina picked him up to stop him from crying. She then heard a knock on her door. She looked at the clock and knew it couldn’t be Nick. He was too early. Sabrina walked to her front door and looked thru the peep hole. She noticed it was a delivery man.
Sabrina cracked her door open. “Yes?”
“Package for a Sabrina Lancaster. Sign here.” The delivery man said while holding out a package for Sabrina.
Sabrina was slightly embarrassed that she had to open the door wider when she was only wearing a towel. She quickly signed for the package and thanked the delievery man. He nodded and rushed off. Sabrina closed her door and looked at the brown colored package.
“What’s this sweetie? What is this package?” Sabrina asked out loud talking to Jordan.
She sat down on her sofa laying Jordan on her lap. Sabrina then opened the package and saw two compact discs. They were blank with no labels on them. She then saw a note inside the envelope.
Kevin’s smile broaden. “And the plot thickens.” Kevin stood up. “Allow me.” Kevin rushed to the door.

_ Sabrina –
What’s up baby girl! This is Brandon. I hope you don’t mind, but I got your address from Ms. Sandra, your mother-in-law. I thought you might wanted to hear this. Don’t tell Nick I sent this to you! He would probably kill me! HA! I just thought you should check out these cds. My boy has a hard time expressing himself sometimes. But when it comes to music, somehow its like his diary. I have never seen him so down and out since you guys split. I don’t know how you feel in the whole situation, but I saw my boy almost everyday in the studio not being himself. CD # 1 – was written, sung, and composed by Nick after your Class of 2001 Reunion. You were all he talked about. CD# 2 – was written, sung and composed by Nick after you two separated. We worked on a full recording track but didn’t finish it. He decided to throw it away for some reason. But, I kept the first draft of his piano version. Check it out.
1 Luv
– B
Sabrina looked back at the compact discs. That’s when she noticed the cds were labeld in a pen marker with #1 and #2.
Sabrina grabbed Jordan and held him up against her shoulder and walked over to her stereo. For some reason she was nervous to hear what was on the cds. She remembered asking Nick why he had never sung for her. Now she was about to discover his hidden talent.
“Let’s see what your daddy can do, huh, Jordy…” Sabrina said speaking to Jordan.
She put CD # 1 into the cd player. She then sat down in the chair in her living room. As soon as she hit play with the remote control, she heard a little rustling noise. She then heard Brandon’s voice.
“Man, use that guitar. Yours…dude. C’mon now.” Brandon started laughing loudly.
She then heard Nick speak. It was clear you could hear the smile on his face as he spoke. “Alright, alright. So…I wrote this when I saw my best friend again at my high school reunion. Ten years later, and I think Im in love all over again, B!” Nick laughed.
“Yeah man!” Brandon cheered imitating the singer Usher Raymond. “Now put some emotion into it.” Brandon teased Nick.
Sabrina found herself smiling as she listened to the two men speak. There was silence and then suddenly there was a guitar playing.

And finally she heard Nick’s voice come in.
Sabrina’s smile widened when she heard the smooth voice of Nick. She found herself slightly swaying back and forth as she held Jordan in her arms. She heard Nick sing about giving love one more try. She thought about all the conversations they had on the phone after their class reunion. She then thought about how many times he told her how he fell in love with her ever since he first laid eyes on her when they were in kindergarten. She smiled as she held Jordan close to her while keeping her lips close to his head lingering her kisses. Nothing but good thoughts filled her mind about Nick. Reminding her why she loved him.
When the song was over, Sabrina sat there in deep thoughts. When she heard Jordan cooing, it snapped her out of her thoughts. She then put in CD# 2 and hit play. Again she heard some rustling noise and then Nick’s voice. It was clear how sad he sounded.
“So, this is….something on my mind lately…” Nick said slowly sounding somber. “For that one person I always loved and will love.”
“Ready when you are, my dude.” Brandon spoke with a calm sincerity.
Then there was silence.
Sabrina could tell the atmosphere in the room was completely different than the atmosphere in the room when CD# 1 was playing. She then heard a piano begin to play and Nick’s voice immediately came in.

Sabrina quickly became sad when she heard Nick’s words that he sang. He sung how things were critical and how he was stuck on her. As she listened to his chorus part, a tear dropped down her cheek. She looked down at Jordan as he laid in her lap. Nick had been working on that song, expressing his feelings yet, she had no idea because he never showed it. She didn’t understand. She read back over the note Brandon had written to her. Sabrina sighed and picked up Jordan in her arms and held him tight wishing it was Nick. However, this was a part of him, so he was the next best thing.
When the song ended, Sabrina sighed once again.
She then heard Nick say, “…that’s it.”
The CD stopped.
Sabrina thought Nick’s voice sounded beautiful. She could tell it was from his heart. It was clear her and Nick needed to talk. She looked at the clock as she wiped a tear away. It read 10:25am. She stood up as she held Jordan in her arms. For some reason, she wanted to make sure she looked extra nice. She needed all the time she could get to put on her makeup and look her best. For Nick.
